Software update gets stuck in CWM after reboot - Ouya Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I have installed CWM and su and when I start Ouya it immediately downloads a firmware update after which it reboots.
Anyway the screen then gets stuck in CWM and it doesn't go further anymore.
When I restart the ouya it downloads the firmware again and just reboots as before.
What am I missing here? Do I need to attach a USB keyboard for executing anything in CWM?

Nice!

got the same problem...what option i need to select when the cwm appear? plz help me i'm stuck

I just had a thread on this, its in this section even.
In the end it was blind luck for me as I couldn't see the cwm menu items all that well.
After cwm mod pops up and the ota process stalls there was an option for "...untrusted zip", I selected this option. A few moment later another cwm menu popped up, I could see two options, one I don't remember and 'back', I pressed back, and the rest of the ota installed.

Install the "untrusted" update.
Don't allow it to replace the recovery.
Reboot.

ya thanks i figured out =/...bit annoying to need to reinstall some stuff anyway...

[Q] broken camera button, any way to root through adb?

I have a phone that has a busted camera button, and I was wondering if there's another way (like going into download mode holding 1 and the power button when booting) to access the CWM recovery once I "softflash" it through Odin. I tried going into adb shell and su-ing, only to realize that that would only apply to a ready-rooted phone. Any help is much appreciated.
I've not tried myself, but have you tried adb from a computer without su? Just "adb reboot recovery"?

Yes, I did. It takes me straight to the stock recovery. Unfortunately, I can't do much of anything in there as I get error messages when I try to install roms, for example.

Thanks! I'll check it out later today after work. Will I flash it as a "pda file" just like I would with CWM?
I believe so

After rooting the device, did you install a custom recovery? you can download goo manager in the play store and install TWRP recovery and reboot to it. If you already have the recovery installed and cant boot to the recovery then use adb to reboot it. Or another way is download terminal emulator and reboot using command lines from you for...only if you have root.
are you on stock or non stock recovery .. And to get into download mode . As far as i know from a off state hold down vol down and power button . to get into down load mode and its vol up to recovery ..
Not tried on my note but its how it goes on the note 10.1 tablet and other samsung devices i have had

Negative, only stuff I installed after the root was superSU and titanium backup.. both of the paid versions. .. When I power up holding vol+ Home Power instead of any upload option I just get the following
Reboot sys now
Apply update from ADB
Apply update from external storage
Wipe data/factory reset
Wipe cache partition
Apply update from cache
Tried wipe data/factory reset to clear the root mod (multi-csc), but basically just wiped my phone of everything else except the root, lol, so at that point I figured I should ask for help..

that is the stock recovery. You need to get root again since u factory reset it. Once u get superSU go to play store and download goo manager to install TWRP or if you prefer CWR then install rom manager.

You don't have to reroot after a factory reset, these aren't iphones (unless you just mean download supersu again) But everything else is correct

reboot again and hold vol up home and power until samsung appears then let go of power, but still hold home and vol up until recovery comes up. from there you can select to install zip ,which would be your rom. make sure to do a clean install (factory data wipe, wipe cache) Then use the instructions the op has up from where you downloaded the rom. should be good to go.

If all you do is root your stock ROM, then no; the only change is that you will have superuser access and have the ability to remove whichever bloat apps you wish. If you flash a different modified stock ROM, then the OP from which you download the ROM should tell you what apps have been removed; although as long as you go with the modified stock ROMs, you will still have S Beam, NFC, etc.

Are you running the original stock rom on your M919 Galaxy S4 phone?
If you are using the original stock rom M919UVUAMDB firmware then follow the instructions below.
Here is how to root your phone
Download Motochopper here: Motochopper
Extract the contents of the motochopper.zip file into a new folder on your windows desktop.
Make sure USB Debugging mode is enabled on your phone.
Connect your phone to your PC computer with the usb cable.
Navigate to the new folder you have made and double click the "run.bat".
Approve the ADB connection from your computer on your phone.
If all goes well and you see no errors this will root your phone and flash superuser.
NOTE: goomanager will not work if you are NOT rooted.
Once you do this successfully the next step is to flash a recovery so go to the google playstore and install the free app called goomanager.
After its installed open the app and click the menu key then select "Install OpenRecoveryScript" and wait until it gets done flashing.
Then in goomanager select the "reboot recovery" option and it should boot into TWRP Touch recovery.
Good luck!

try resetting the device to factory using twrp recovery. I had this happen once and resetting the device worked.
I did factory reset in twrp, upon restart I get the welcome screen, language setup, I choose en us, press the continue button, the I get the error message: unfortunately, setup wizard has stopped. I can't seem to bypass this.
any thoughts?

that's what I had previously, I just followed a video guide ad literam.
I guess I shall update the recovery as even now, after clean rom install still unstable: for instance the wi-fi toggle in settings refused to work after a few hours of idle time, a reboot solved it.
