I've been using usbotghelper. seems to be the only app that can mount my ext3 harddrive which I have connected to the ouya in a 4 bay enclosure.
Same here, I disable automount hdd by Ouya and enable automount with Usb otg helper (ntfs)

Really?!?! I have to disconect one and connect the other in my ouya. I tried USB OTG Helper, and it didn't work... said it couldn't mount the HDD.

You need to disable automount by Android, for it
Edit with a root file explorer vold.fstab in /system/etc
Add # before the last line for have
# dev_mount usbdrive /mnt/..........
Save, reboot, use usb otg helper

I´m trying to figure out why the pendrive I'm connecting to my One X via OTG is showing the error Damaged USB Storage.
It is formatted to FAT32, and is 64GB. Is there a problem with pendrives this big? I have a 2GB which works fine.
I'm not rooted, I have the latest JB update.
Thanks.

try to format to only fat...not fat32 and try again...if it doesn't work then it's a too big usb stick ...but i can't imagine because someone had copied files from a 1tb storage to the one x with otg cable

Thanks, ill give it a go.
One more thing, if I root and format the pendrive to NTFS will it work? I read there is some apps on the market that work.
I hooked up my 2tb external he'd and it worked just fine. It was ntfs format and I used usb otg helper to mount it.
Everyday I use my 8gb fat32 format without issues.

Are you rooted?
I`ve just found out 4GB is the max for FAT! or is that the max it can hold?
Any way I cant find a way to format it to FAT.
Sorry, yea I'm rooted. Running viper 3.2.2 jb
Format it via device manager in windows.

just try the usb storage as ntfs and it have to work fine...because ntfs is unlimited and yes...try that and you will be happy
Yeh I suppose I'll have to root sooner or later, just don't like the hassle of saving and restoring stuff.
Thanks guys!
I found the same thing, damaged usb. But that's only 8gb. More like a formatting issue then I should think.
My 2,5" HDD 250 (FAT32) works great but pendrive 4GB (FAT32) does not :/ Strange.
How to force NTFS HDD to work via OTG?

You need usb stick plugin for commander. You will need to pay for it and it only works with total commander file manager but it does allow NTFS access....
plug a NTFS tard disk or USB

Hi guys, this is my first post so I hope it will be helpful
If you want your SM-P600 to mount and read NTFS formatted Hard drives you will nee to install the kernel shown here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2615959
After you do that you can install Paragon or USB OTG helper, the hard drive should be mounted and your tablet should be able to show the files on it if you use ES file explorer
Been trying to mount a usb hard disk and usb stick but no luck.
Are you using a compatible kernel? With a OTG Y Cable?

Using FAK kernel 1.3.6 and yes using Y cable, usb hub, keyboard, mouse, gamepad all working.
I'm also forced to reboot after using otg else I cannot charge or access files on the phone.
Does that mean you can now access your USB storage devices?

No - other devices work fine. but not usb storage devices.
Even rebooting does not allow me to access or mount usb storage devices.
If i have a usb storage device connected and I reboot some random apps disappear... until I disconnect otg and reboot again.
Iam considering buying an external 1 terabyte or more hard drive to keep my files so I can use my tab without a laptop
But I don't know if it will support that kind of storage via usb otg
Pls help if anyone tried
One other question is this will drain tab battery or what
Thanks

I can use my WD USB HDD mounted via OTG and formatted NTFS using paragon app to mount (root required). This is tested with my SkyHigh kernel.
I don't know if device natively supports it with stock kernel, but should be able to mount at least fat formatted USB HDD without root and visible with Samsung file manager.
Not real sure about the battery, but would obviously use qite a bit. I haven't tested to quantify the "bit".

I have a pair of 2 TB Seagate Backup Plus drives that I use with my tablet. I formatted them as exFAT on a Windows computer and they automount on the tablet when connected. The tablet does not provide enough power to spin the drive. I use a USB Y cable to supply extra power from another power supply.

Could ANYONE please confirm that ?
If it's true it means that a fix is possible via system files.
THANK YOU A LOT
When I plug my hdd in via the USB c to USB adapter I only get the option to charge. This used to work in nougat. What's changed and how can I get around this problem?? TIA

Ok well you can try two apps one is to mount the drive and the other to read it both are on the play store.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.paragon.tcplugins_ntfs_ro

I think it had something to do with debug settings in development options. I had installed Andromeda and left it checked. All working fine now. Thanks for your time :good:
