My brother bricked his DHD, but he did really nothing wrong no I'm trying tot get the phone back to work. But there are so many methods described that I'm kinda lost.
First some information
-There doesn't seem to be any rom or recovery left, just fastboot(?) seems te be there.
That screen has the following information
Code:
ACE PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-2.00.0027
MICROP-0438
eMMC-boot
Sep 7 2011,19:06:24
Fastboot USB
I would appreciate if someone can give me a pointer in the right direction?
-Flash an original recovery (where can i find these?)
-Flash an complete stock-rom (where can i find these?)
-Try to get S-off? Which software should I use than? The thing I did find like revolutionary don't seem to work with an phone with just fastboot.
*Sorry for the bad English, I'm not a native-speaker

He probably tried to flash something, messed up. He than ask a friend for help who messed up even further. Probably didn't read the tuts good enough.
I have some experience flashing phones (Xperia X1, G1, Galaxy S,). But I'm stuck with this litle challenge.
Any way you can figure out what they did? Like, could you ask them for a link?

I'm surprised you're even trying to fix it for him...wait for a guy named glevitan to show up. I'm guessing you can run a RUU, but wait for glevitan to confirm.
Small update on thing I did
-Tried ruu's with an higher version number than the current firmware the phone suppose to have (3.13.161.5) The same version doesn't same avaible.

ok, I guess you can still access hboot and that takes no longer than 30 secs. If that is the case, then it is good. If you are willing to flash a ruu you will need to get the CID number first.
Do the following:
Boot in hboot and plug the phone
If it says HBOOT USB PLUG in the phone, press power button to toggle to fastboot usb
open a cmd in the PC as admin
type: fastboot getvar all
paste that information here, deleting the IMEI.

Creating an Goldcard can also done be Linux as far as I know. Butt the big problem is the fact that CID doesn't seem to be good according to the website I mentioned earlier.

Hi,
I need to send my phone back for repair, I've got HBOOT 1.72 and am running the 4.18.401.2 firmware. I've tried running the RUU for the 3.14 version but it won't work.
There isn't an RUU for the 4.18 version yet.
Can anyone point me in the right direction to get back to stock and unrooted?
Cheers,
Tom

OK I am right. Now dounload this RUU 3.14.401.31 lock your bootloader fastboot oem lock and run the RUU. If you receive the error I think you will not download nandroid backup for your base 3.14.401.31 from Nandroid backucp thread and restore via custom recovery. For the nandroid you will must unlock the bootloader again it will be good to have Unlock_token.bin. I think it will install the RUU without the problem but I am not so sure for this I write you the second way restore via nandroid. Good luck and report back.

Thank you for your help, my kind Sir!
It all worked! I just have one more question. I have reflashed stock recovery... and my bootloader says "relocked".
Shouldn't it say "LOCKED"?? Will i loose my warranty if it says "RELOCKED" since that means it was unlocked and than relocked...?

You can take the stock recovery from this OTA. But the RUU have nothing to do with recovery. To this moment everybody lock the bootloader and install the RUU the RUU erase everything on your phone and install everything(recovery rom etc...)
EDIT: you are on the latest RUU 3.14.401.31 and you are on the same main version have a little chance to receive error from the RUU for this but this is the easy way to restor or try the long way is nandroid.
Thank you

The utility reaches the screen where it starts copying stuff. .then gives an error 158 and tells me to find the correct update update utility. .
What am i doing wrong
I think the utility will not downgrade me from 4.19.708.1 to a 3.xx.708.xx ?? For that do we need to do a nandroid restore ? In that case can anyone point me to th one that will be applicable for me ? Since i have no clue on that. .
I just want to go back to 4.1.1 or 4.1.2 as the 4.2.2 update broke my camera focussing funtionality.
Hello, so quite sometime ago I rooted my phone, or unrooted it. I am not sure what the term is, I dont even remember why I done this in the first place. Anyways today I wanted to just put my phone back to like it was when I got it, and in doing so I have actually broke my phone I can't get my phone to boot up anymore, I always get a message saying I have no OS installed. I am really useless with all of this so I would appreciate it if there is a patient person out there who can help me get my phone back on and back to how it was when I recieved it. I am sure I need to add more information but I dont know what so please tell me what you guys need to know and I will try and provide the answers.
This should be the first rule when asking for help.
Post fastboot getvar all result (delete serial & imei no.)
Without this info, no one will be able to offer any help

Where do I find this?
Do you have fastboot & adb on your PC ? You should have one, if not how can you install a custom recovery and root your device before ?
If you're not sure .. install this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317790
Put your device in bootloader mode and connect to PC
Open a command prompt and type fasboot getvar all then "enter"

If you're not sure .. install this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317790
Put your device in bootloader mode and connect to PC
Open a command prompt and type fasboot getvar all then "enter"

I think thats what you want right?.
Yes .. that's the one.
You have two options :
Option 1:
Install new stock ROM with a RUU - Download : https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95916177934555499
you need to relock bootloader - run command fastboot oem lock
run RUU (right click the RUU and select run as administrator)
you need to use USB2.0 on your PC
RUU will wipe everything on your device including your files on internal storage
Option 2:
Restore a non-rooted TWRP backup 4.20.206.1
No need to relock bootloader
No internal storage wipes
Read how-to and all the needed files are here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/help/tutorial-how-to-stock-stock-twrp-t3086860
Good luck .. I have to sleep now, good night

Option one just stays on updating 0/6 sending and nothing happens. Option 2 doesnt make sense to me, I really have no idea what most of it means.
Ok so this morning I tried option one again. It went through the first 6 stages fine, then it got stuck on the next set of stages at 1/7. When I restart my phone into the recovery screen type thing I have in red letters OS - (4.20.206.1) but I am still unable to start my phone up. I have disabled firewalls and also using USB2.0 when trying to do this process. Maybe this one that has been linked is not the right one for me? Or maybe I am doing something wrong?. I would really love to get my phone back working so all help is really appreciated.

You have USB/Device connection problem. First it was 0/6 and now 1/7 ...
Which windows version that you use ? try with a Win7 PC .. I don't know many people cannot run RUU on windows higher version that Win7. I don't have problem on any windows version including my current Win 10.
What do you don't understand about option 2 ? It's very straight forward.
Install latest TWRP 2.8.6.0 or TWRP 2.8.7.0 (you need to reunlock bootloader because you relocked it for option 1)
Extract and copy the backup folder to TWRP backup on your device
Restore backup .. done
Or
Just install any of Sense based ROM that available in Development thread to get your device up & running ... then you can start that option 1 & 2 again
But seeing you mentioned OS - 4.20.206.1 in red, you need to get option 1 done because the firmware installation was incomplete

Yes maybe I do but I am not sure why, maybe I need to look into seeing if my motherboard needs an update or if any windows updates are needed. I am on Windows 7 but like I said, it goes through the first 6 steps then as it boots the bootloader up again I hear the sound that my computer makes when plugging in a USB cable. However even if I leave it, it will not go past 1/7. But if I take the cable out it reconises I have done that so that makes me wonder if it is a USB problem?.
I dont understand option 2 because I dont know anything about all of this, I shouldnt have done it in the first place and I dont even remember why I did. I also must have deleted my backups as I cant find them. The part I was confused at, was which TWRP to get, then how to get it on my phone as my computer does not reconise my phone in the state it is in so I cant just go into the phone and place it. I also dont have an SD card with my phone either.
I will try updating my PC and try and get option 1 working and report back. Thank you for helping by the way, I really appreciate your patience with me.
Try also to install latest HTC USB driver.
Download HTC Sync Manager and install. Then uninstall the HTC Sync Manager but leave the HTC Driver installed.
http://www.htc.com/us/support/software/htc-sync-manager.aspx
Is there a way to wipe this OS version and try this whole thing again? I have found my 2.0 USB ports, I have tried a different cable and it still gets hung up. Only now it doesnt move past the 0/6 whereas it used to go through all of them then into the 1/7 and get stuck on this part. I also can try a different PC if need be.

That is what I would suggest.
Also, does your PC have USB 3.0 on the ports? This has been known to cause problems with the RUU.
Ok so I have done the steps suggested now, when I uninstalled the HTC Sync Manager it let the process complete. It is now on a screen which says Android is upgrading, optimizing app 17-261. Is that my phone fixed? Or is there more I need to do now that it actually has turned on?.

Looks that way. It should boot into OS after its done optimizing all the apps, which is normally pretty slow (with that many, it will take 10 or more) since Android moved from Dalvik to ART.
Well I would like to say a massive thank you for the help I really appreciate the patience and help. So thank you again. I would have been lost without you's.

O2 RUU Marshmallow CID O2_001 pleaseee
Hi!
I have an HTC One M8 from O2 UK, that i give me a lot of problem after updating to Marshmallow.
After successfully complete the update i have done a factory reset which i guess it soft brick my phone.
It will show optimizing apps, after that starting apps and is stuck there until battery dies. I try many methods, formatting cache partition from recovery menu, made another factory restore from fastboot, I even left it plugged one night and nothing.
The only hope is if i find a RUU for CID O2_001
The phone is S-ON non rooted, i unlock then re lock boot loader thanks to htcdev website.
adb fastboot getvar command show this.

Hello,
In this thread you will find the firmware for your phone. It looks like you know the process of installing your firmware, so if I were you I'd down load the proper firmware and try the whole process all over again.

Hi!
I didn't find because it is to new. It's an O2 UK, android 6 version, cid O2_001.
I did something else, i flashed TWRP recovery and then i flash latest InsertCoin rom, and now the phone it is working again.
Thank you!
Hi,
second try. First post didn't go through... good thing I didn't save what I typed.
I'm trying to update my firmware, I've read somewhere that a RUU is the easiest way to do so. The one I found "somewhere" doesn't go through with the update proses. It spits out error 155, bootloader is relocked hboot version is 3.16.000 and I'm S-on (not that I was able to change that).
I'm loosing my patience and I'm about to throw the phone in the trash. I've some one can point me to a RUU that work with it I'd be in your debt. The carrier is O2 Germany BTW.
thanks and happy new year.
Even though I can guess which RUU that you might need .. is best to post
fastboot getvar all result without serial & imei no. to confirm it
If it is really a O2, I'll link you the RUU

Yeah .. not to post them online.
Here is your RUU - https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95916177934555499
This will update your device directly to lollipop 4.20.206.1
then after check for software update, I believe there will be a few more OTAs

Thanks for the quick response. I've started the download, but slow internet means it'll take about 45min I'll report back once I'm done.
I realized I haven't really said anything about my intentions, I did that the first time I wrote the post which wasn't posted because my session in the forum got kicked or something.
I wanted to update CM to CM12 and I've managed to flash a stock ROM with lollipop but wifi won't work. So my main concern was updating the firmware so that I can flash CM12. This would enable me to do so?
thanks again.
Restore a stock ROM, you can't use lollipop. Wifi won't work because you have hboot 3.16.0000
You only can restore 1.54.206.10 stock ROM and its stock recovery then do all OTAs up to lollipop then only it work for wifi and other thing.
Using a RUU will remove everything on your device including internal storage (so make backup) then it will update everything including firmware to lollipop. So it is faster compare the nandroid backup method. You have less OTA to do.
Got to rest now .. already in bed .. its 4 AM here .. I'll check your progress tomorrow .. good luck

When you asked for RUU I expect you know all the requirements to run RUU ...
Your problem is related to PC/USB to device connection problem ...
You need to relock bootloader before you run RUU because your device is S-On
(I believe you did that as stated on post #1)
and you need a Windows PC with USB2.0 and latest HTC USB driver installed.
If you're not sure about HTC USB driver - download HTC Sync Manager - http://www.htc.com/us/support/software/htc-sync-manager.aspx
install then after uninstall HTC Sync Manager but leave the HTC USB driver

You need htc_fastboot.exe to install the RUU zip.
Follow the steps as explained here but using your own RUU zip (skip that no.1) -
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64926626&postcount=6
Or if you prefer the exe method .. you can follow this - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=67314040&postcount=1749

Thank a lot bro please help me out of a new problem, ur method worked completely fine . I successfully switched from custom to stock rom and then installed the updates available. Now i wanted to root so
I unlocked bootloader using htc dev
Started the phone and all the apps optimized which took around30-40 mins
Now i shifted to bootloader installed twrp then installed supersu which i had already put in extsd
Phone didnt started for an hour stuck on htc screen
Used adb reboot bootloader and repeated everything all again right from fastboot oem lock doing ruu and all still it is same
It works all very fine before installing supersu after that all chaos dont know what to do
Hi guys,
Hoping someone can help me.
I've got a HTC One X that is currently stuck on the HTC splash screen. looks like previous owner unlocked it, as it had a version of CWM as Recovery.
I'm wanting to Restore the phone back to Original Stock Firmware/ROM (JB or Higher if available), but so far, with all the Tutorials and such I've read through, the links in a lot of them seem to be no more.
Phone details;
C:\Android\HTC One X>fastboot getvar all

So far, I've only come across an RUU file named;
RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_ICS_40_Optus_AU_1.28.980.10_Radio_1.1204.103.14_release_258004_signed.exe
But it appears to be ICS, a lower version and different Radio...
Is there an 'RUU' that's more Stock, maybe a ROM directly from HTC?
If I get an Optus RUU... does that mean it'll have all that Optus bloatware in it ?
From reading around, I believe I'll need 3x files?
- Stock Recovery Image
- Firmware Image
- Boot Image (not sure what this is for, last custom rom I tried didn't mention flashing this file.. what's it for?)
Any help would be awesome! if you need any additional info, please let me know.
Thanks
There's a nandroid backup in the nandroid collection thread in the general forum that's 2.17.xxx which is still ICS but you might be able to restore it using cwm and flashing the boot.IMG in the backup. It might not work though.

Hey Mrbtree, thanks for the reply . I came across the nandroid backup from here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1975140 , but the versions need to match, don't they ?
What happens if you install a RUU / Nandroid with a different CID ? I've come across a couple of backups with the correct Main Version and Radio version.. just different CID.
At the moment, I managed to install Android Revolution HD 33.1, which I think is JB.. seems ok..
I've been able to flash my 4.1 backup after I updated to 4.2.2 but not sure how 4.1 to ics will work or if it will. I would just try and restore the optus ics nandroid from the thread if it works, it works if not I would just stick with Android revolution.

You can try this method: search for "OneX Modder", download them, open and flash stock recovery. Then with this tool relock your bootloader. (the tool was made by me ) Then download the ruu (as you as said), run it and wait. When the process is completed, boot up the phone and update them via Update app. You will get JB (4.2.2) and a few little updates. Install them and you are done!
