Will the $25 play credit expire after redeemed? - Galaxy Note 8.0 (Tablet) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooti

I read somewhere that the nexus 7 play credit expired the day the promotion ended. Will that happen to the Note 8 promotional code as well?
Sent from my GT-N5110 using Tapatalk 4

Interesting, I wasn't aware they ever expired. But apparently the N7 credits expire at the end of this month: http://play.google.com/intl/en_us/about/offer-terms.html
Can't find any info on whether our credit expires or not. I buy stuff so infrequently on the Play Store, I still have $20 of the credit left!

Hey, did your credits expire by now?

Glad I stumbled upon this... I tried to use up my $50 worth of credits... Not much to choose from for good apps made for a tablet. I bought the office pro package as it was still on sale, may do a comparison of the Samsung loaded office package and see which seems more user friendly. I paid for the downloaded one, as it seems that many of the Samsung loaded apps not from Samsung do not get updated. Though the HD Notes is one app that is hard to beat and don't mind it being unsupported.
So far I just been using up my credits on donations, and paid versions of apps that I don't use on my stock ROM, in hopes that I'll use them on 4.4.3 and my 5120 AT&T once someone cracks the soon to be released firmware 4.4.3 package by ATT for unlocking the boot loader. As somewhere in the package should be the command to release write to locked partitions.
By then my $8.50 worth of credits will probably be revoked. (

Nope, I still have some of the credit left. I'm not a big app purchaser, but I've used up most of it, and a little under $3 still remaining.

[Q] You guys have me second guessing..

So I'm getting my G4 today after work from Sprint. Driving about 2 cities just to cop it. But then I came to realize that there is no root yet. But the only reason I'm rushing to get this phone is because of the promo bundle. Otherwise I would have just stuck with my G3 until root was here and a working twrp. By the way, nobody speaking on a twrp without unlocking the bootloader.. If I unlock it, it voids warranty. But what If I were to unlock it and have insurance on Sprint? Would they know? Or should I just throw the phone when it bricks and just go to Sprint for a replacement lmao & is there any word on tethering? The g3 didn't tether without root. Had to use WIFI Tether Router apk. I'm wondering if I should stick to paying just 90 a month for my unrooted G4 with my unlimited everything plan or just miss the promo and stick with the G3.. Also, I see all of these "lag" and "overheating" problems from everybody with the T-Mo variant. I'm kind of second guessing those problems due to the fact that you guys were the same ones that had to do a few first day returns due to problems. Any chance that Sprint would have the same exact problems or is it just a universal thing with the phones? Because I know carriers alter the software a bit. Only reason I really use root is for lucky patcher and tethering. Or am I just asking noob questions? lol
I picked it up and as a power user, I feel clipped without root. It is a great device though. No complaints about lag or over heat. If root is a must for you, buy to get all the promos and switch back to g3 till root is established. Im gonna try to stick it out with no root. Its just that cool in the hand...

I've had the Incredible 1 & 2, Rezound, DNA, Galaxy Nexus, G2, G3 and now this phone. Its the best out of the bunch (except for the stock Nexus software and development). I dont have any of the problems other people have.

Yeah the problems they have seem a bit farfetched
Are you buying from a Sprint store? Are you just after the LG promo? It runs until June 30 i believe so you have time to wait on root. The best buy promo runs until July 4 if you are considering buying there, so plenty of time as well.
Personally the phone is good enough to have on hand and wait on root while enjoying the phone.

Android Pay - Note3 isn't "Compatible"?

Just got the notification that Android Pay is available for download, but the app page on the Play Store says my device isn't compatible. Running Jasmine ROM 5.1
I'm all stock and no root, and it says mine is incompatible as well. It won't show up i n Store search, when I find it via a direct link, it says incompatible. I have the older Google Wallet installed and it seems orphaned from the app store.
Seems from reading around the the net that some Note 3's have an incompatible chip set. Not sure yet. I'm pretty irked about it at this point. Had high hopes.
Anyone know what Assurion is giving out for Note 3 replacements? Note 4s?

I will confirm this on this weekend. I just spoke to Verizon and they stated it's an nfc incompatibility. But they are giving away the new updated sim/nfc cards. They just mailed mine out today. So I should get it Saturday. Will confirm if my app changes settings options to enable tap and pay.
Thanks for the update. Hopefully your next one is that it's working!

I hope so. The tech I spoke with said she has been with Verizon tech almost as long as I have been a customer (she mentioned that specifically) and I have been a customer since early 2000s. She seemed to know what she was talking about saying she has mailed out many new updated sim/nfc cards for note 3 users since isis/soft card was shut down. After some further researching, this appears to be the case. Verizon had a deal with samsung to launch with a secured sim/nfc card that was locked for isis/softcard. Now that is shutdown, Verizon is freely giving the new HCE (unsecured/unlocked) sim/nfc card just by asking for it. Again I will confirm that this weekend.
Well, guessing that didn't work out so well... . Bummer.

*BOUNTY* Root 928a

Okay, so I'm not a senior member or anything here but I have been around these forums for some time now and there is almost nothing I want more right now than root and custom recovery for this variant of the s6 edge plus. My initial pledge is $100 for root only, and another $100 for custom recovery. Anyone that would like to help me with this thread will be extremely appreciated. Any advice will be taken with gratitude and humility. Let's create some motivation for all those amazing devs out there! Make sure to post the specific bounty you are pledging to, otherwise your contribution will not be added to the list.
Pledges:

There must be someone who can unlock the bootloader. Once that is accomplished, everything can be done.

Why is the Att variant so hard to crack the bootloader? Can someone explain how it works and why it's so hard to get root and unlock the bootloader on Att devices please?

Samsung has a deal with the two cellular giants, AT&T and Verizon. Samsung claims that the extra security against root access on these two companies is so that Samsung can grow as a device used for enterprise. It is a valid claim to a certain extent, but not really all that sensible. Samsung could easily come out with two separate versions of the firmware, one for the root loving, custom craving consumer like you and I, and one for uptight, dickwad businessmen. In short, Samsung wants more money from big corporations so they highly increase security that prevents root access, leaving the average civilian customer stuck with a very limited version of something they should be allowed to customize to their heart's content (being THAT WE FRICKEN PAID TOP DOLLAR FOR IT.) I hope this answered your question.

I will donate $25 for root access UT only if it's done within the next 6 months. No one cares if the next best thing comes out. Lol
I'm all for pledging $25... I just bought my phone today and I hate all that extra bloatware bull**** that I'm never going to use.

I've downloaded the app package disabler pro.
Even though it just disables the packages, sadly doesn't fully remove them, helped out a bit with speed and battery life improvements.

I am feeling pretty blue lately about the lack of talk going around about someone working on root for this device as well. Has everyone really given up? Are we really all going to crawl into a hole and let samsung and the 'evil big two' win here? I myself do not believe for one second that any system is completely secure. Ever. There is an exploit waiting to be discovered. I know it.

There's actually an app that DOES remove bloatware - of course it doesn't require root as I have used it very well for months now on my 928A.
It's called "Package Disabler Pro" and exists in the app store, I believe you have to pay a small amount for real functionality, but I was able to completely remove all AT&T bloat and all Samsung bloat.. but be careful - don't disable things you're not 100% sure of..
If you do make an error, you can always go back and re-enable that package.

You sign up and add your card details then cancel your subscription a couple minutes later and you will still get the 4 months as you have already subscribed. That's what I did back in Jun.
Looks like you only got one month, according to your screenshot. [emoji6]
BTW, I was able to get the 4 months as well. I had to add a payment method (and cancel before it's up).

Accessories Bose 700 headphone offer (UK /EU?)

Hey folks,
This thread is to discuss the process of getting the Bose noise cancelling 700s headphones from the pre-order offer. As far as I am aware, this offer was available in the UK and some of the EU countries, but it may have been available farther afield.
Today at the time of writing is 14 days after I placed the pre-order for my 6P and a standard 6. I entered all my details for both devices through the pixel offer website and am now awaiting confirmation. I'll keep you updated with my progress and am interested to learn yours.

Hey,
I also sent my application yesterday (pre-ordered on the 19th). So far, I only got the confirmation e-mail saying they received my request.
They're supposed to get in touch within 4 working days to approve it. Let's wait and see!
i filled it out using my US address...let's see if it slips through
My validation was approved immediately in morning after submission. In addition, I sent other proof such as delivery note which came with phone and photo of IMEI on phone box in afternoon.
They replied that my submission was validated in evening agin.
Just doing extra as learnt from last year mess up on Bose promo.
What did you use as a proof of purchase? I do not think I have any papers left since I got rid of everything. I would happily go and dive in my bin, but it was taken this morning
I just done it and got text to say its been approved and 40 days I should have the headphones.
21:30 claim sent
22:45 text that the claim has been approved
shipment within the next 60 days
I know that these headphones come in 2 different colours. I wish google would let us chose which one we want.

My experience was the same. Confirmation was very fast.
Was also told that I can expect the headphones to arrive within 60 days.
Thanks folks. I've had confirmation for one but not the other. Just for laughs, Google's own pixel offers were put into my Gmail spam. I'm now waiting for a confirmation on the second hand set. We'll see how quickly it comes.
I submitted my application on Monday, haven't heard from them even though they say in their e-mail "they will get back to me within 4 working days". Meh :/
I've now received confirmation for 2/2 devices.
The second confirmation was for the first device claim.
My best advice for anyone waiting for confirmation is to check email spam (particularly for Gmail)
