I am a quadriplegic. Due to my accident in 2010. Now I can use dictation software to use my computer. I need your help to show me what I can do so that I can control my sprint evo 4g through my windows7 PC: so that I can install apps, etc. on my HTC Evo.
I have gotten hours looking at old posts, unfortunately I would need to root my phone. I don't have the ability to do that now.
I have installed air droid app, but this software does not allow me to control my phone: installing apps, etc.
would you please help to share with me the easier way for me to control my phone through my computer, the simplest way with our root my phone ?
Thanks so much in advance, Kinsley

update: cleared up some language
Try searching for some remote control software that allows you to control your PPC from your PC. I think there are some threads here with recommendation, I remmeber seeing one on the topic of screen capture.
BTW, if you were to sync it with your PC, you ought to have all your contacts on your outlook, which you can sync it back once you have your phone repaired.
i can't find the software. any leads to links would be much greatly appreciated...

Having just got the Desire (and loving it) one thing i can't seem to find is something like the mymobiler software which i had on my HD2 (WM) which i used to find really useful.
Basically its a bit of software that lets you have full phone access on your computer screen via the USB connection.
Any body got any recommendations (sorry if its been asked b4 )
Cheers all
Try Android Screencast.
Does that need root access?
Hi All,
I use SOTI controller with my Win Mo HTC ..... it works very well.
Can the Desire be controlled in the same way?
IE, view the Desire screen via the USB cable and control the phone from the computer?

Thanks so much - I should have looked.
So you simply install that app, run it (you have to be rooted) and then visit the IPORT the app gives you and you can choose to interact with the phone through browser or just take screenshots.
hey guys, i'm having trouble with finding a program like mobiledit or jeyo that allows you to SMS and have phone priveleges on a pc. my netbook has windows 7 starter and i can't find anything that works with windows 7 starter or with wp7 or with both. anyone know something i could use? this is a necessity with me. if i can't find something, i'll be migrating away from wp7 and my samsung focus. even samsung's own pc studio software does not support the focus.
all my controls would be via bluetooth.
there isn't a program at present to do this as the phone is locked down quite a bit and APIs would need to be written to get this going (or phone needs to be hacked up for it, which i don't see happening any time soon).

that seems so odd to me. windows 7 starters automatically answers incoming calls and allows me controls of my phone's zune playback (forward/backwards, stop/pause) while connected to the phone via bluetooth, so you would think since windows has already got the functionality of partially controlling the phone, they would go ahead and add the texting and the "answer/ignore/dial" functionality as well.
there are some serious functionality problems with the wp7 in these regards. you go look at mobiledit's list of working phones and it is just about every phone made except the windows phone 7. any ideas on if this could happen in the next year?
i would suggest hitting up social.microsoft.com about this. that is more of a direct source. MS could provide more ideas as to what they're doing at the MWC next week, but i doubt it would be detailed enough down to particular featuresets.
Ive done some searching, and come to the conclusion that something exists that does what I want, but it's either so obscure or so commonly known, that the search terms I'm using won't ever work (phone over usb, control android from pc, use android phone on pc.) Does anyone know of an application I can download that would let me take calls from my pc, over usb?
My searches are pulling up things like media sync tools and trivial sms apps.

Use Google Voice on PC to txt, and Google Talk plugin to make calls on PC. No phones required.
The desire and intent here is to use the phone - I'm well aware of Google Voice and Skype, et al. What I'm wanting to do is to use my existing phone, and make calls over it from my PC. I appreciate the effort, though - I do use Google Voice for my voicemail and for alternate local numbers for my phone.
orrrr, scratch that, I see what you're saying now. http://www.google.com/chat/voice/#utm_campaign=en_US&utm_medium=homepage&utm_source=en_US-gizmo5 - this would probably be the best option since I'm using my usb to tether in the first place. Thanks for the suggestions!
