So I'll start off by saying I have a S3 SGH-i747m from telus.
A few weeks ago I installed battery guru and after it started managing processes my phone started getting symptoms of SDS (random shut downs and dead boot loop but only dead boot loop while on charge) it would also boot loop occasionally until starting. Most of the time I attempt to wake it from stand by and it vibrates as it powers on and is as normal.
I'm running clock work recovery, Dandroid 4.5 and kernal 3.0.31.
The phone has a small crack ( top left corner from left to right of the same corner) I live in BC so some rain does get on it but I dry it off.
Other than the mentioned issues it's running flawlessly, I was looking into the zerolemon battery any how I just don't want to spend money on a device out of warranty and potentially dead.
Any ideas? RJ.

Hi guys
By current battery temp is at 33.3 degrees.
Battery life is uneffected. I get more than a days life out off it.
I never did any caliberation stuff etc
current rom MIUI
I just started monitoring the temp becuase 30 min ago my phone shut down hwne it was sitting right next to table lamb and the heat of the light from the lamp caused the phone to shut down and boot loop at htc logo.
I dont think this is a one off problem as i am getting boot loops on htc logo when playing games since last 3 weeks.
I even had to change my rom because once its got stuck in boot loop forever.
so i had to unroot etc
currently i am using MIUI
I didnt realise the boot loops were because of overheating.
What is the temp your battery is on?
Is there any way of checking temp on other parts like processor etc.
Does replacing battery help?
At this moment playing games for more than 10 causes phone to shut down. and sometimes to bootloop
What shall i do?
Probably another case of this.
Try a differrnt modified kernel other than your stock one, like VorkKernel or DeFrost.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Did a search and can't find a similar thread, so apologies if there is one.
Over the last couple of days my phone has been freezing on shutdown. I have to turn my phone off whilst at work, and when I do it stops on the "o2" splash screen and just gets hotter and hotter. If I don't spot it then it just runs the battery down to zero.
I have to forcibly turn it off by holding down the power button.
Anyone else had experience of this? I haven't rooted it yet, so a return to HTC is on the cards.
I love this phone, but this is already my 2nd after getting dust under my screen for the first one.
Well... i have a verizon galaxy nexus. running the latest crom with philz recovery.
i have a zerolemon extended battery as well.
while i was working today (i work outside) i was listening to pandora, this is a usual everyday thing, my phone decided to get super hot.
It was HOT. i figured it was a mix of the temperatures here in georgia and my cpu usage. So i powered it off and took out the battery for a few minutes, put the battery back in and put the phone in the DRY section of my cold lunchbox to cool off.
well 2 hours go by, i get off work and try to power the phone on and it only vibrated.odd, as it never happened before, i took the battery out and put it back in. try to power on again. it just vibrated. i thought it was dead.... until a minute later my notification led started flashing. so i called my self from the home phone and it rang!
so now i know the phone is on and functioning buttt.... the screen is completely black. no Boot screen/splash screen not even an led backlight. just black.
ive only seen this problem one time and there was no cure for it, has anyone had the same issue? help?

Hello, my galaxy s3 died one day last year and I haven't been able to resurrect it since..inserting battery results in a vibration, samsung logo, then it dies until I pull the battery again. Today I had the sudden urge to try fixing it and got different results than I had previously. I cleaned a bunch of lint from the charging port and am now able to get a short red light flash when the phone is plugged in, followed by a vibration, then the battery charging logo, then death once again. Randomly I'll get the cyanogenmod bootup screen when repeating this cycle but for no longer than a second or two before the phone dies again. I've disassembled the phone and cleaned as much dust and crap as possible to no avail. Any recommendations? Could the power button be frozen? My samsung infuse had a stuck power button and would boot loop but my S3 doesn't seem to be boot looping. Just turning on then dying until I fiddle with the power button again.
I want to rule out sudden death...
I had a sudden death on a note 2.
Download a good compatible (with your baseband) ROM.
Fool with the phone. Like really. Keep trying to turn it on, try recovery mode. I fixed one of these. It wasn't quite the same but I still have it. And it works. If the screen wasn't cracked to hell I'd be on it.
Another option may be trying a debrick image on an external sdcard. You should use one based on the same modem and baseband installed on the phone when it last worked.
My Dad dropped his phone accidentally onto hardwood floor and worked for 2 weeks. Yesterday the phone was in boot loop and now doesn't boot at all. The phone cannot charge at all nothing no red light indicator. This phone is as Dead as a dodo. If only i can get into download mode. Any suggestions?
Our home has a hardwood floor and the phone fell onto the ground. The distance was 1.4 Meters it was completely working until while my dad was using it it turned off and was in a boot loop. then the phone wouldn't boot at all.
I'm trying to at least get data off of it however the phone is completely stock (unlike my LG G3 he is using today) so i cannot use ADB cannot boot to recovery as well. Computer doesn't recognize phone at all.
Meanwhile i may do the following:
I may get a new battery (original of course)
maybe a USB Jig ( I may buy one off Ebay or ask my uncle to make me an homemade one since he is an electrician there is an xda post about how to make one)
open it up to see if any damage to circuit since it has been dropped
Hopefully I can fixed this any suggestions are welcome since the phone is Out of warranty.
Thanks

I don't think that a physical damage due to a dropping can wait 2 weeks for showing affect.
Perhaps if it was falling into water, you could say that a corrosion slowly spreaded until harming the core components.
Perhaps it's no more than a coincidence, and you ran into the famous sudden death syndrome (aka "sds").
I'm wondering, what android version did the device have before the brick?

It had 4.4.2 kitkat for a while. i tried changing phone and gets a little warm. I'm buying a new battery today to see whether it is a battery issue since i had this battery for over 3 years! (crikey)
Like MeiR_ct i think you coincidently ran into SDS.
Definitely try the things you mentioned
See if the power button is stuck. Did you say your dad switched it off? Sometimes some gentle tapping might help release the button if it is stuck/damaged as a result of the fall.
Also try pulling battery and holding power button for 30 seconds, put battery back in and see it it comes on. If no, then same routine for 1 minute, etc up to 3 minutes or so.
