So after reading this thread, I jumped over the Straight Talk's site (I already use an AT&T Straight Talk sim card), but I noticed they now show that they have AT&T 4G LTE compatible sim cards. I just ordered one for $6.99 with free overnight shipping. It explicitly states that you can keep your 4G LTE speeds with an AT&T 4G LTE compatible phone.
Hopefully it truly does allows for LTE, that would be pretty impressive for an MVNO! I'm actually on hold trying to talk to customer service to confirm, but if I can't get through, I'll report back after I get my new sim activated.

You sir, are a buzzkill. Just kidding. So I did get in touch with their customer service who ensures me that I will truly receive LTE service. I am still skeptical, but will report back on Monday/Tuesday after I get my number moved over to the new sim. Saint Louis is pretty well blanketed with LTE service, so I should know as soon as throw the card in and update the APN. Here is the image on their site though shows LTE explicitly (not just the general reference to 4G).

Just so u know, u don't have to unlock your att phone to use on att straight talk. Every att phone works fine out of the box. Also 4g LTE is now available for att straight talk customers with a LTE capable phone and u have to order new sim which is 6.99 with free overnight shipping. Although a couple people claim LTE is working in there old sim.

I called customer service this afternoon and chatted with tech support this evening. Neither could activate LTE on my current sim card, but did confirm the new card I ordered will support it when I activate it. I tried the new APN for fun, but it was a no go. So Monday should be a good day with the new card
I got my sim card back in February, so it is obviously too old.

So I got my new sim card today and activated it. Definitely getting lte now and fairly decent speeds. Last speed test averaged 16mbps and hit 20 for a little bit. Only thing I noticed that wasn't great is one area I was in had full bars of lte but didn't seem like I could load any pages or connections. Luckily that was about 10 miles down the road from me in an area I am not in often, but a little strange.
BTW, I'm using the tfdata apn to get LTE.

Also with this coming out how long u think sprint will stay unlimited....I barely get 10mbs from my local Time Warner cable at my house! if lte is pushing that speed and still unlimited I'll just tether like crazy..so i just want feedback anyone think unlimited data is coming to a end with lte or special lte plans coming out??

Sprint has recently been more aggressive with free tethering. The data that comes through when tethering isn't the same as what would come through just using your phone and if you use a bunch I'm sure they will start looking... Then giving the shutdown sandwich.

The actual websites may not be different, but there is definitely a difference in the data sent and received. For example, when your computer or phone requests a website, it sends information like which browser and OS you use. This particular info can be spoofed, so it's not a huge problem, but there are differences in the ways different operating systems handle packets, and that can't be hidden.

Sprint read packets being sent using free tethering and determining what you've been doing while tethering, most of this only occurs when tethering has been drastically abused.

3-5gb of data a lot? Lolololol. We have guys in the rezound forum, while I don't agree with what they are doing, hitting near a 1TB in a month. He has plenty of picture and video proof.

no sprint WILL keep unlimited data and the lte will not be quite as fast as at&t or verizon perhaps a few megs slower but i could care less the 12 megs i got with wimax were plenty enough all i want is a LTE connection that does not drop every 5 mins sprint has to keep unlimted data otherwise they WILL lose millions of customers
Technically speaking it shouldn't be able to hit as high for peak speeds using a 5x5 carrier vs 10x10 that the other guys use. Sprint has expressed how they are not looking to get into a peak speed war with the other carriers (since they would lose at it), instead they intend to focus on consistency. The hardware they are using will be able to (in the future like 2013/2014) hand off between all of their spectrum for all of their services, and with the rebranding of the 800MHz their coverage will be dramatically increased for voice (and later LTE as well). If Sprint can make their LTE network consistently around 6-12MB/s and keep it unlimited I would be very happy.
As for staying unlimited, I don't see why they can't continue it for the next few years if they choose. Sprint will probably see a net decrease in the cost of operating their new network vs the old one and nextel, and if they are not going for all out peak speeds they won't have that to contend with. The unlimited is the ONLY thing that keeps a lot of people with Sprint, if it wasn't for that I know I would have left. This will continue to be the case, if they end unlimited, Verizon with their big network will look pretty. Verizon and AT&T with their faster LTE networks will look nicer. For the next two years at least the only thing that differentiates Sprint is unlimited, so I think it's unlikely they would change that.
Now, I do foresee Sprint throttling your speeds past a certain amount of usage (hopefully over 5 or 10GB), or during peak hours for heavy users, but as long as they only throttle to a respectable amount I can live with that.
Hopefully southern california gets 4g lte im dying here using the wifi at home

I'm definitely happy, specially since truly unlimited coming on the 5th, when you go to walmart or the mall it kind ducks because of the network, meaning insides buildings is not that good, but at home work and places I visit is amazing, I get like 20mbps at my house, having said that I don't use minutes much so idk how calls are, I use like 100 minutes at month and not complaints here, best network in my area is att but is too expensive for my taste
He means when your in a bad are you won't have fast Internet, sprint has more areas cover, is slow consistently everywhere, while tmobile could have amazing speeds in one spot and dead in another, like I said it depends where you spent time using it
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2
Yeah if I take my phone off wifi right now at my house im 4 miles away from 4g service and my phone is on g(which is 2g) its worthless. On top of that my phone will show full service but no internet connection and when I make a call it says not registered on network (att) so the roaming on att is a lie. Unless you are in the middle of no where it wont roam.
I have been on the phone with cs for 2 weeks and they wont tell me why it wont roam on att when it says I have roaming included.
Ill post a speedtest.

My life for Aiur
I made the switch last december when I finally had enough of paying them to get no service. Im on the value family plan with 4 phones total and its right around 160 a month. Unlimited talk and text for all 4 lines, 3 of the 4 have 2gb of data each. As of the next billing cycle tho for the same price it will turn into unlimited internet for me once it takes place on wednesday. No dropped calls, great plan price, great internet speed. I recommend it, dont regret it at all.
Well i recently made the switch from Sprint to T-mo primarily because i really wanted S3 & Sprint wouldn't have 4gLTE in NY for awhile & their 3G sucks now in upper Manhattan and what's the point in having a beautiful looking phone if i can't show off some HD YouTube vid without buffering every 5sec.Not to mention they still charge $10 for the 4G even if its not available in your are.
Loving T-Mobile speed on this S3 way faster more consistent than sprint wimax and will love it even more when its unlimited and their prices are about the same for me and they have more plans to select from compare to Sprint

I've been getting slow internet for the last few months and it's annoying. Best bet is to go to bestbuy and try out the service for 14 days and return if not satisfied. I am told they do not charge restocking. Tmobile will run you like 40 bucks restocking

I finally did get a regular size LTE card... they are RARE but im using a galaxy note and im pulling about 23-25MB/s but It keeps bouncing between that and 4G so I know its in the baby stages but yeah the LTE stuff is all equipment base. If the LTE settings that auto come up doesnt work just delete it and make your own it ltemobile.apn and it should work. I had to do it with mines.
You need both apn set up and the lte sim card. I think a micro lte sim released with iphone 5 launch so you can get that, otherwise, you can buy a regular sim and cut it to fit the micro sim slot.

From fido: Can I use my existing Data add-on for LTE?
Yes, all our existing voice and data plan as well as data add-ons are LTE ready and most of our older data add-on are also LTE ready! This means the only requirements to be able to access LTE are a Fido LTE SIM card, a LTE device and to be within the Fido LTE network.
LTE in Toronto is fully operational, and it works well. They only have standard sizes, like you said and require cut. I'm getting 30-50 mbps down, 10-20 mbps up.

Just go to a fido retailer that has sim cards make sure it says lte, have them cut to fit (some of them have the sim cutter) as they only have standard size and nano. Pop it in Your unlocked sgs3. go in settings>more settings> mobile networks>access point names and select fido lte.
Don't forget to thank me if that was helpful to you.
No lte
Here's the thing: the fido Site says lte is 2100/2600, but the S3 uses 1700/700 for lte. If fido uses Rogers towers, would it not make sense that they use the networks as well?
When I go to Kanata I had lte on my iphone 5, and now when I bomb around there I'm not getting lte on my s3. I have an lte apn set up the way fido and everyone else has said to, but it's just not coming thru...
Can anyone give me any insight?
Just wanted to link to this post I made in the Fido forums for anyone having trouble getting LTE setup!

I'm using Ptel mobile $50 plan on an S3 flashed with tmokeiths mod. I'm getting speeds of 6mbps download in the Inland Empire California.
Using straight talk. Started off with good speed about 5-6mbps dl and 2-3 upload. Now it's been slowing down every month to .5-1 Mbps DL and under 1Mbps upload. Getting really annoying

I'm using net10 with AT&T Galaxy SIII, and I have to say I am very impressed. The data speeds are faster than they ever were with my Sprint service. It baffles me. If anyone needs a good hookup on prepaid service cards as well, I sell tmobile, straight talk, virgin mobile, Verizon, AT&T, and net 10 all at major discounts.

Does MMS work for you on via Net10? What rom? MY brother is using a AT&T S3 with Net10 t-mobile sim, and he can't get MMS to work for the life of him. He has tinkered with APN settings, rom's, modem's, etc...
Does everyone have to shave the sim cards down? Or can you get microsims for the prepaid carriers?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda premium
Net10 came with a total of 3 sim cards, two were att one being a micro and the other tmobile standard sim

So they sent you multiple sim cards for non net10 service? I thought you needed the providers simcard?

Im interested shoot me a mesg, I cant stand my AT&T service at all spotty coverage, get throttled and they added a .64 "administartive" fee on the bill to bump up their bottom line, greedy as f*ck company lol ready for a change haha
I'm using straight talk att. Went with them instead of tmobile cause tmobile coverage sucks.

I just picked up an AIO sim card and activated it my T-Mobile note 2. I had to put the APN in but after that lte popped right up. I love t mobile and I'm going to continue to use them but I'm traveling more with my new job and edge isn't cutting it. So far I've only seen one area on aio's coverage map where I wouldn't get service where I may go occasionally. If this works out I'm gonna lower my T-Mobile plan down to the lowest plan until more towers are upgraded.

What is an AIO Sim and what does it do different from a regular Sim?
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda premium
AIO wireless is a prepaid service owned by at&t. It runs on at&t's native network. Its similar to go phone but data is throttled but unlimited. Their plans are on their website. So far today around Buffalo NY its been solid. I leave on a trip tonight so I'm gonna get to test the coverage/quality out more thoroughly.

And our tmobile phone lte will work on att's network? What about 4g or 3g?
Sent from my SGH-T889 using Tapatalk
All have worked for me so far. 3g 4g and lte.
