Revert to stock for warranty repair 4.18 - HTC One X

Hi,
I need to send my phone back for repair, I've got HBOOT 1.72 and am running the 4.18.401.2 firmware. I've tried running the RUU for the 3.14 version but it won't work.
There isn't an RUU for the 4.18 version yet.
Can anyone point me in the right direction to get back to stock and unrooted?
Cheers,
Tom

I think you can use the appropriate nandroid backup from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1975140 if an ruu is not available.

Thanks very much I managed to find this rom and do everything you said. It's good to see that you didn't have any issues when sending it back for repair. Hopefully mine will be perfectly fine

I hope you are lucky too. The relocked state could be a reason not to repair under warranty

OK I am right. Now dounload this RUU 3.14.401.31 lock your bootloader fastboot oem lock and run the RUU. If you receive the error I think you will not download nandroid backup for your base 3.14.401.31 from Nandroid backucp thread and restore via custom recovery. For the nandroid you will must unlock the bootloader again it will be good to have Unlock_token.bin. I think it will install the RUU without the problem but I am not so sure for this I write you the second way restore via nandroid. Good luck and report back.

Thank you for your help, my kind Sir!
It all worked! I just have one more question. I have reflashed stock recovery... and my bootloader says "relocked".
Shouldn't it say "LOCKED"?? Will i loose my warranty if it says "RELOCKED" since that means it was unlocked and than relocked...?

You can take the stock recovery from this OTA. But the RUU have nothing to do with recovery. To this moment everybody lock the bootloader and install the RUU the RUU erase everything on your phone and install everything(recovery rom etc...)
EDIT: you are on the latest RUU 3.14.401.31 and you are on the same main version have a little chance to receive error from the RUU for this but this is the easy way to restor or try the long way is nandroid.

Thank you

And you loose your warranty if your bootloader is "RELOCKED", it must be "LOCKED" if you want to keep warranty and send your phone on repair... As i saw on internet there is no way of keeping warranty on HOX... :/

The utility reaches the screen where it starts copying stuff. .then gives an error 158 and tells me to find the correct update update utility. .
What am i doing wrong
I think the utility will not downgrade me from 4.19.708.1 to a 3.xx.708.xx ?? For that do we need to do a nandroid restore ? In that case can anyone point me to th one that will be applicable for me ? Since i have no clue on that. .
I just want to go back to 4.1.1 or 4.1.2 as the 4.2.2 update broke my camera focussing funtionality.

Go to the link I provided and look down the list for your cid, htc001, and then your main version. I can't see the 3.20.401.1 so I would go for the 3.18.401.1 and then flash the stock boot.img in the nandroid. Then get the stock recovery and flash that and then you will be able to ota to the latest. And before anyone mentions it,I know the latest is there but that won't upgrade the hboot

[Q] Help with upgrading to JB

Hi smart guys
Few hours ago I've decided to upgrade my phone to JB (it's about time). I was trying to run cyanogenmod 10.1.3. It ended up with error status 7 ("ro.bootloader"). I was doing everything in instructions but then I saw in HBOOT I have HBOOT-1.12.0000. Even if I run 'fastboot flash boot boot.img' (boot.img from cm-10.1.3-endeavoru.zip) it is still 1.12. Could anyone please help me how to updgrade HBOOT?

flashing boot.img does not change your hboot.
do the command "fastboot getvar all" but erase your serial number and imei
get your cid and go here to get your firmware>>>>>http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1957376

not a stock rom, a nandroid backup. I'll post a link at the end. you flash cwm recovery in fastboot, then you get the nandroid backup which matches your cid and main version, which people have kindly donated.you flash the boot.img from the nandroid that you download and you then restore the nandroid in cwm recovery as if it were a backup which you made yourself. once you have done that, you flash the stock recovery, which can be found further down the page after the backups. and when all that is done your phone will be fully stock and you will start to receive official OTA's until your phone is on the latest version for your part of the world. this will also upgrade your hboot to the latest version and then you can flash the latest custom rom's or just stay on stock.
follow the instructions EXACTLY >>>>>http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1975140
so basically, look for your cid, HTC_032 and then click the link for the 2.17.401.2 nandroid

[Q] Problem trying to flash Stock RUU

Hi,
So I'm trying to restore my HTC One X to stock. It was previously running a custom ROM. So far I've:
- Flashed stock recovery (as per http://www.androidauthority.com/one-x-revert-stock-recovery-76854/)
- Re-locked bootloader
- Check for correct RUU region (401) and downloaded the latest RUU (RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_JB_45_S_HTC_Europe_3.14.401.31_R_Radio_5.1204.162.29_release_302015_signed) from androidruu.com
When I run the RUU exe I get
ERROR [132] : SIGNATURE ERROR
The ROM update Utility cannot update your Android phone
Please get the correct ROM Update Utility and try again
Tried a couple of times with the same result. Any ideas what's going wrong here?

Download this RUU 3.14.401.27 lock the bootloader and run the RUU as Administrator
you must install 3.14.401.27 before 3.14.401.31 you can't install directly .31 becouse you are not S-OFF
And don't forget when you are back to stock apply all update to upgrade your HBOOT to latest JB or to 1.39 in best way

Thanks Thant! The AndroidRUU.com version of this file was corrupt, but I was able to get a working one after Googling.
Just installing OTA updates now, then it can finally go on eBay!

then better read in general section some guide, you need fastboot and adb on your computer. You don't know how to go in bootloader and you want to flash rom. Please be more specific. Not like I am using ViperX say I take phone with installed ViperX. It is not so ease to restore phone and in case you don't know how to use fastboot!
And now my answare download fastboot and adb go in bootloader and run the command. To go in bootloader tutn off your phone then press volume down + power button until you are in bootloader.
i got it now sir

Now first download this RUU , charge the phone to full relock your bootloader and run the RUU as administrator.
to relock bootloader use the command fastboot oem lock if your bootloader say Unlocked you must run the command if say RELOCK then you are ready to run the RUU

M8 only boots into fastboot

Hi guys, I need help bringing my phone back to life. I tried to return my phone back to stock by running a RUU. But now I've learnt (the hard way) it was the wrong RUU and now I can only boot into bootloader. There is no recovery I can boot into. This is the getvar:
(bootloader) version: 0.5
(bootloader) version-bootloader: 3.19.0.0000
(bootloader) version-baseband: 1.24.21331147A1.09G

(bootloader) version-misc: PVT SHIP S-ON
(bootloader) serialno: HT46KWM00547
(bootloader) imei: <REMOVED>
(bootloader) imei2: Not Support
(bootloader) meid: 00000000000000
(bootloader) product: m8_ul
(bootloader) platform: hTCBmsm8974
(bootloader) modelid: 0P6B63000
(bootloader) cidnum: HTC__622
(bootloader) battery-status: good
(bootloader) battery-voltage: 0mV
(bootloader) partition-layout: Generic
(bootloader) security: on
(bootloader) build-mode: SHIP
(bootloader) boot-mode: FASTBOOT
(bootloader) commitno-bootloader: 3aa067db
(bootloader) hbootpreupdate: 11
(bootloader) gencheckpt: 0
I tried to find the correct HBOOT and CID version RUU but to no avail. I've tried another RUU for 0P6B but I think it was MID 0P6B1000 while mine is 0P6B3000. And most other solutions involve have S-OFF which mine isn't. I'm not sure what else I can do. Any help is greatly appreciated!

I think you want the RUU for 4.18.708.12, if such RUU exists. I don't know if it exists or not, but this at least give you a starting point to look (seems like you were somewhat guessing before).

Don't think 4.18.708.12 RUU exists.
If your bootloader is unlocked ... you can install TWRP 2.8.7.0 then restore 4.18.708.12 stock non-rooted backup and install 4.18.708.12 stock recovery.img then do OTA to Marshmallow 6.16.708.1

#4 is correct
boot into fastboot means that ur system got some problems

I agree, if there is no RUU for the version, than the way forward is to restore a stock TWRP backup. Unlocked bootloader is required.
