I use Nova Prime for my default home, and only visit Discover for the most part. Occasionally I forget and launch a game from OUYA launcher. When I do this and long press the home button to return to NOVA I can't get back to the OUYA home screen. When I launch OUYA from NOVA the last game opens. I have tried clearing both cache and data in the OUYA launcher, but the game still opens. Where else could this be stored in the cache.

Hello. So I got into a problem this morning while updating Golauncher EX. I updated it and when I pressed home, I accidentally chose to have GoTo (a lockscreen application) the default app for that. Now my phone can't return to launcher at all.
When I reboot I just get a blank screen and can't do anything besides bring the notification bar down.
I know I can easily fix this by going into settings, but I can't get to that without launcher. So I tried to get into safe mode (boot holding vol down, track pad, and menu) and I can get there after the phone vibrates (it says safe mode in bottom corner), but before I can do anything the phone reboots. I don't really want to resort to a factory reset yet, so I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions.
Also I haven't rooted my phone yet.
Thanks for any help you can offer!
The only thing i can think of is press the search button, and see if that brings up the search screen. I would navigate my way to market or something, install adw, then hit home. The pop up for default should come up again, then you can make golauncher ex default?

Delete it from phone with computer. I think all the files pertaining to the app should be in sdcard/data and data/data...
Thanks for the tips guys. btw I tried using search, but nothing would pop up, but for some reason hitting menu would make a keyboard appear.
Anyways, something weird happened where when I tried booting into safe mode, my phone seemed to wipe all my settings and went into the normal launcher. It didn't delete all my apps, but made the majority of them strangely force close whenever I opened them.
In the end I just rooted my phone and everything is perfect now!
Good to hear.

Mods please move this thread to Q/A section of Epic 4G touch. noob mistake.
Mods, feel free to delete this thread if posting the same question to two different XDA forum is not allowed. I posted it under the Android Q/A since I see the problem with other Android phone also.
Here is a link to the thread:

And the body(feel free to delete if not needed)
First of all I have a Sprint Epic Touch 4G AKA Samsung Galaxy 2 S and not rooted, but I think this is an Android problem after 4 days of trying to find a solution.
I keep getting prompt to select which launcher(launcher or twlauncher) when I press the home button. I would select set as default and then select twlauncher. This would work fine and I could do what I want and the home button acts normally. BUT if I long press the home button to bring up task manager and a list of recent apps, it would break the default setting on twlauncher. I could go to setting and manage app and see that the default on twlauncher is now cleared even though I did not manually clear it. I tried checking set as default and then select launcher. It too won't stick AFTER I long press the home button.
Long story short, I downloaded several launchers from the market and none of them will stay set as default IF I long press the home button. It breaks the default every time and ask me to select the launcher to use when I press the home button. Now this would be great if I could just delete all the other launcher and have only one but I can't delete the stock launcher or twlauncher.

So the first time this happen, I was driving down the road using telenav when I see the prompt to select which launcher(something that I've never seen after using the phone for 2 weeks). Did some research elsewhere and found no solutions so here is what I have done in chronological order:
1. Start task manager and kill all active app and clear memory from RAM
2. Clear defaults from manage application....twlauncher
3. Click home button, click set as default and then launcher instead of twlauncher- still does not stick after long press home button.
4. Manage application...twlauncher CLEAR DATA (sure enough my neatly organized homepage and apps folder was reset to stock).
5. Pull battery
6. Cycle power on and off.
7. Gave up after 24 hours and factory reset the phone.
8. Went on my merry way and reinstall apps and customizing home page and apps pages and so on.
9. In hindsight, I should have long press home button every time I installed a new app to see which one will break the default.
10. Phone works fine for 24 hours and then it mysteriously acts up again. It ask me to choose which launcher again.
11. Went back to googling and tried the following which did not work:
a. clear media hub data and default
b. installed Sprint "clean" ID and then later deleting it.
c. installed go launcher and see if it will stick
d. installed launcher pro
e. installed home switcher
f. I don't have Qik or some child lock apps
g. search XDA and found about 15 threads and tried everything in those thread short of using Titanium to freeze one launcher.
Any update on a working solution? Right now I just won't long press the home button to bring up task manager or recent apps and everything will work just fine. Minor annoyance but I guess I can live with it until the ICS update.
I have found out that if I unmounts my storage card, I would not get the message to set the 'Default' launcher. As soon as I mount my storage card, I would be presented again with this message as soon as I long press the 'Home' button or pull down the notification bar. This is on stock HTC EVO 3D.
I fixed it by rooting the phone and disabling the other launcher so that twlauncher is the only launcher on the phone.
Every time I go to manage apps and add an app to a category, apex seems to restarts itself. I press the home button and go back to homescreen and all the widgets reloads.
There are other occasions where it does this but can only remember this one off the top of my head.
Anyone have any idea?
i've had something similar happen on my Nexus 7 ever since the new update.
random times when i press Home, or press Back to get home, it take me to the screen without any icons/apps or widgets. and after a few seconds they all show up. i can even swipe between screens, and every since one is empty. but then they all show up at once.
What ROM are you using?

if I long press the home button I get the google now page, if I then press home again it always prompts me to select a launcher.
I've just done a full cse flash of 10i, it happened immediately afterwards.
I tried a full reset of the phone, and it did the same.
any clues how to get rid of this annoying problem ? I seem to be always getting prompted to select my home launcher.
sorry to answer my own question, but it might help someone.
I installed Nova launcher as per a recommendation in another forum, it found that an app I had installed called "apps" had caused an android bug to appear, so I uninstalled it, and all is back to normal now.

maybe a other solution is go into Settings>Home Screen>Select Home and reselect Home.
But I am not sure because I never had this problem
I had this problem with Nova Launcher today, every time I pressed HOME button it would ask me which Launcher to use even with a tick in the remember my choice box. So I selected a different Launcher EASYHome in my case and then back to Nova Launcher and it was fine.
I tried resetting the defaults but it kept asking time and time again , but it was definitely a corrupt app causing the problem..and nova helped me find which one.
I have a similar problem and cant get it to stop, i have a quickcircle case and everytime i open the case to unlock it shows me the screen to select the launcher but disapears right after, im using v10i with Nova on D855 no root.
how to get nova launcher to tell you which app is the issue.
Excuse my ignorance, but how does nova launcher show you which app is the issue. When I click the multitask button and then the home button, every time the select home option comes up.
I had same problem with an LG Escape2 (and replacement one) and now a 3rd cell LG G Vista. Home Select screen keeps popping up when I click to go back to home page! Keeps asking for default home Screen or easy home screen Driving me nuts. Any fixes? This has been a problem mentioned by some Samsung owners
Hello people,
I just got the phone yesterday and I updated the ROM to the latest v4.23.
Whenever I press the home button, I am automatically sent into the game space.
To exit the game space I have to manually toggle the switch on the side.
Is there anything that I can do to stop the phone from going to the game space from me just trying to hit the home button?

weird i dont have that problem....
The issue has been resolved! I have spoken to the support and they suggested clearing cache for the game space, I did that and I also installed nova launcher and uninstalled it.
I still prefer the original launcher as they have full-screen gestures. So as for now I am not sure which method really solved the issue but I do think it has to do with the mapping of the home button on the initial boot. After I installed the nova launcher the home button seems to be mapped correctly and everything seems to be fine right now.
