How do I update my bootloader? I can't find any guides when searching these forums.
Just use the search button and type in, Updating bootloader, and you will find it in the threads approximately 32 entries down.

Also, it's in the general section for this phone on the very first page.

can an unlocked bootloaders be detected if sent back to repair and how does one unlock bootloaders.
Yes I believe unlocked bootloaders can be detected even if you relock them, not sure how this effects the warranty though
To unlock your bootloader I used this tutorial

You might want to read logsemans post on everything relating to this topic first, its stickied at the top of this forum. And explains alot.

I am in the process of rooting my Note 2 SCH-I605. I installed the bootloader and it was easy, simple and achieved. My question now is, I read the thread and it says that you should not root the phone with Odin after the bootloader is installed. What do I use to root the phone then? Is there another way to do it?

step 1) read the stickies
step 2) read the stickies
step 3) search
Ok then...to expand.
1) what recovery is recommended here?
2) all ROMs compatible with lte/gsm or ROM specific.
3) should I accept the ota? I'm assuming there is more than one.

1) your preference. you are about to get about 30 different answers and it still wont be any clearer
2) look in the dev section and see there are SPECIFIC forums for the device you happen to be on (I assume Sprint?)
3) sure why not? what difference does it make? unlocking and rooting it is the same on any nexus device on any version, it matters not...
Read research and go with your gut! I have an unlocked boot loader and am running stock 4.2.2 . almost flawless performance

I want to return my M8 but I rooted it.
Is it possible to go back to stock?
Maybe I overlooked a topic somewhere.
At this moment I'm S-ON and Relocked.
Yes, just read and learn somewhere around. There should be someone who made guide for that

Then I flashed stock recovery
