No, you unvalid the warrenty only if you root the phone.
The CWM or TWRP are just a type of recovery... If you've never installed a custom recovery you will probabily have a stock one (like Samsung's) or maybe you WON'T EVEN HAVE ONE )... of course it depends on the phone's producer and model.
BTW, if you want to install a custom ROM or flash files, you'll have to root the device :good:

If you unlock your bootloader you will void your warranty.

[Q] Recovery Problems

Hi, I've got the Xperia Arc S running gingerbread 4.0.2.A.0.42. I've rooted it using Super One Click and installed Rom Manager. But when i try to install the CWM i says that i have already one. Then, i tried to boot into it and I can't! I have a locked bootloader. Please Help! I want CM10

for cm10 you need to unlock your bootloader to flash fxp/cm10/aokp kernels.
if u cannot unlock it due to warranty issues try out other ICS custom roms in dev section which support locked bootloader.
many of them have features of ICS-JB combined .
Sony devices have no recovery partition, so you can't install a recovery on the normal way. If you want to stay on gingerbread, install DoomKernel v22, so you automatically get a recovery

I thought I've seen some guy who is working in a CWM for Xperia devices that will allow us to flashing kernels on locked bootloaders

Incorrect - flashing a kernel requires a unlocked bootloader end of. Now for the installation of CWM on locked bootloader, it can be installed to the system partition and booted from there, you could use this application to install the required for you http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1437840.

Thank you, but I know it. I told that CWM maybe will be released in the future for locked bootloaders, so we will be allowed to flash custom kernels, sorry for my poor english

I have an Xperia Pro with locked bootloader...
You can install CWM through x-parts, from playstore:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...1bGwsMSwyLDIxMiwiY29tLnB2eS5DV01pbnN0YWxlciJd
Or using RecoveryX:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1773227
Both methods will be deleted if you wipe system partition... which you'll pretty much do when flashing a zip rom.
there are good Roms out there for locked bootloaders... I've tried these 3 and they are great!.

[6.2.b.0.211]Need help after fail trying to root Xperia S

Hi, today I tried to update my Xperia S to 6.2.b.0.211 using this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2302631
But I got a brick which put my phone on a bootloop like the sony logo wouldn't disappear. So I used PC Companion to repair it and now I'm at 6.2.b.0.200 without root.
What I'm asking: Is there any way to root/flash a pre-rooted rom or whatever to have my phone rooted?
Thanks in advance.

Hello guys, u dont need pre-rooted rom or use the old .200 rom anymore
just get the .211 stock rom and u can root it!!
Seems the .211 rom is not available in many country, including Hong Kong (where i'm from)
u can just flash the .211 rom with the ftf file with flash tool in your XS
u may download it here : http://goo.im/devs/DooMLoRD/xperia_s/LT26i_6.2.B.0.211.ftf
u can flash it in without wiping data or cache (while the pre-rooted rom will wipe data)
then root it with doomlord easy rooting kit : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2327473
hope it helps

Here is very easy and wonderful way !
1. Unlock the bootloader ! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1560613&nocache=1
2. Download flashtool and install it. http://androxyde.github.io/
3. Download doomkernel and SuperSU-1.25-Busybox-1.20.2-UPDATE.zip - 1.43 MB http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2305591
4. Now flash the doomkernel via flashtool and restart the phone. Now when you see cool doomlord logo, pressing at 'volume +' you will get CWM recovery and pressing at camera button you will get TWRP recovery. choose any one of them and flash this 'SuperSU-1.25-Busybox-1.20.2-UPDATE.zip - 1.43 MB'
ALL THE BEST !

I'm not sure if it's region free but i can instal in on my Hong Kong version Xperia S so i believe it can be installed on yours
i believes most languages are here too
but there's only xperia international keyboard by default
seems other keyboard can still e added in setting
but the Xperia Chinese keyboard is missing and i have to flash it myself
if u dont like this version, u may look for another ftf file

i dont think unlocking the bootloader is required as it is a stock rom
btw, doing this will make u lose your bravia engine
u can root official . 200 FW. Your device must be UL, flash with fastboot doomkernel v5 and then you have CWM and root.

u can unlock the bootloader without CWM (I still recommend u to install it before unlock and do a backup first, becoz u will have data wiped after u unlock the phone. With cwm, u can restore it immediately, while your phone is still unlocked after restore)
then u need cwm to get into a custom rom
with unlocked bootloader, u can have some custom kernel or rom which offer another recovery: TWRP
so u can have your phone with custom rom and no cwm now
Actually, what make u feel that there will be security problem with CWM?? or u dont want to have any recovery??
TWRP is still a recovery, and seems there isn't way to uninstall a recovery without taking the other one in my experience. the only way to get rid of that is to flash the original firmware

Im use KIS mobile with theif protection.
If my Phone is lost, the thief will delete all phone with CWM and also delete my KIS Mobile.
if no CWM, the thief will turn on the phone then my antivirus ( KIS Anti Theif) will detect the theif phone number and position GPS.
i hope CWM have a password to enter the recovery
If the thief know about flashtool, no matter you have cwm or not or unlocked bootloader or not, once ur phone z stolen means its stolen

The tutorial was for the Z and ZL, when I get to the part of installing the recovery, download the link and not the Z ZL and install and reboot, the phone did not return to light. Anyone know how I could fix the problem. From already thank you very much, I hope you can help me. And forgive me for my poor English.

You need a unlocked bootloader to do custom roms however there are custom roms for locked bootloaders too.
Sorry, but I do not understand what I said apparently what happened is that the Xperia download a recovery and install Z, instead of one of the Xperia ZL. After restarting the phone, the phone did not return to start. Sorry for my English but is very poor.
Anyone know what I should do?

The problem is not that I can not install because of the bootloader, but that installing the recovery that was not the cell does not start, it is not detected by the FlashBot or the PC.
For AOSP roms like CyanogenMod you need an unlocked bootloader.
Locked bootloader works only for stock kernel based roms.
If your phone is already rooted and BL unlocked, download CyanogenMod http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=odin
Extract the boot.img from that .zip-file and flash it via fastboot.
You'll need fastboot drivers installed to work! (--> http://www37.zippyshare.com/v/40599174/file.html)

Hahaha I still make myself understood, installing a boot.img of "Xperia Z", the phone will not start, is not unbootable android, but the phone does not start. I can not even get into Fastboot mode

Just Flash the Archidroid 2.5.3 zip file in your phil touch recovery then after that the aroma installer will pop up . then select your rom settings ... I suggest you select archidroid kernel .then its done .wait for your phone to boot .

Unlocked bootloder is required. After you need to flash a custom kernel with recovery, boot into recovery, select install zip and choose zip with ArchiDroid.

You can unlock bootloader via Flashtool or via fastboot. You can find tutorial for it on Xperia M General Forum.
