[Q] Flashing Stock Rom - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

I'm sorry if this has been answered already, but I recently had a rooted sprint galaxy s3.
I flashed the 4.1.2 stock rom back on it through heimdall but there's a problem that I haven't ran into before...clockwork mod recovery is still on my phone with the stock rom. The phone is not rooted anymore, because I can't grant apps that need root permission.

Use this thread, it has always worked flawlessly for me

Best way to go from CM10 to rooted AT&T Jelly Bean ?

I am currently using CM10 on my rooted Galaxy S3 AT&T phone. Can someone tell me how I can get stock AT&T Jelly Bean with root access?
The root no flash count thread in development has been updated to rooted at&t jellybean. No data loss. Flash with Odin. It's what I did.
There are a lot of ways to do this. Flash the root injected file using odin. Flash the TW version using odin and use kies to update. you could try going right from CM10 to the JB update.
I was on rooted TW and I updated via Kies, then just flashed cwm, installed super user zip, and updated cwm to the latest version. Everything is working even google wallet following proper installation.

How to root 4.1.2 Stock ROM

Sorry for the n00b question guys, I recently dropped Virgin Mobile and my Evo 3D for T-Mobile Galaxy S2. I successfully rooted the stock 4.0.4 rom, but then I downloaded the 4.1.2 rom and flashed through Odin. I also pushed the TWRP recovery and then pushed the SuperUser w/ BusyBox zip file and (from what I read) it said that should be rooted after my phone rebooted. No luck. If anyone has successfully rooted the stock 4.1.2 rom, please tell me the steps you used to do it. Sorry if I seem demanding, I'm just curious of why I wasn't successful.
When I rooted the 4.0.4, I used TB and debloated the whole rom and I figured everything would stay the same after I updated, I was wrong.
There's a guide that shows how to do it.
Here is the link. Rushing is a nice guy and can answer your questions.

[Q] Sprint NOTE II -How to get 4.3 on rooted SPH-L900 on 4.1.2

Currently I am using Sprint's Galaxy Note II SPH-L900 with stock 4.1.2 (MC2) rooted with TWRP installed.
I have been prompted for the new OTA of 4.3. I would like to keep Root and TWRP and update to 4.3. What is the easiest way? Is there a ROM I should use?
I was on stock rooted MC2 like you and I also have TWRP recovery. I simply flashed LorJay's rooted MK4 ROM and I've had zero issues. I decided to try without reverting back to stock un rooted and it worked just fine. I'm not sure why there's a need to un root first... my MK4 ROM flash perfectly and root has never failed. I'd do a nandroid backup first and then decide how you want to go about it from there. Read LorJay's thread in development forum. You can follow his directions or do what i did. It's your choice. But don't take the ota update. When I updated to MK4 rooted ROM I wiped everything even internal storage before flashing LorJay's stock rooted MK4. I've also flashed STS MK4 ROM with no problem. You'll just need to flash the wifi fix with odin (on your pc only) before wifi & hotspot will actually work. Youll need to install odin on your pc if you havent already. Make sure you use the PDA flash button in odin when flashing the wifi fix. Also you will have to unzip the wifi fix zip file before you can use it with odin
Basically LorJay's ROM is mostly stock and STS is debloated. Both have basic and most common tweaks etc. Good luck.

thanks tx_dbs_tx...I was in the same situation. I had 4.1.2 and was rooted. I wanted to try 4.3 rom but was afraid because of the knox issue. after reading that you flashed it like any other rom I decided to flash this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2582027 , and it works great. it even has note 3 spen features. I love it. if you wouldn't have tried it I would have not either because I was afraid something was going to happen to my phone. and all that unrooting stuff seemed to difficult for me. thanks again man.

With the rom you just flashed did you need to flash the wifi patch or did it just work with this ROM?

[Q] Can you tell me if this will brick my phone? Unrooting

Currently running CM 11 (M2 release) Android 4.4.2 with CWM recovery (Latest)
I want to unroot my phone and put it into stock.
I've never officially updated to 4.3.
If I take these steps will I break my phone?
1. Data wipe
2.ODIN stock rooted ROM (4.1.2)
3.Data wipe
4.Install/Run triangleaway
5.ODIN non rooted stock tar
ANY help will be greatly appreciated! :highfive:
Your steps are just fine. Go ahead.
I do wonder that Odin flash of Non-Rooted Tar may trip flash counter. If I were you, I'd just remove SuperSU app from the Rooted image.
Thanks for reply I did it and now I have a stock, non rooted and stock recovery with 0 flash counter thanks.
I was worried about the 4.3 locked bootloader

is it safe to update my rooted s3 currently running 4.1.2

Ok so is it safe to update a rooted phone or can it get bricked? I have a tmobile s3 currently running 4.1.2 and I want to update it but I want to know if its safe
Thanks in advance
If you're rooted and want a stock rooted 4.3 install, I highly recommend root66 thread. Stock installs are best done from scratch because modified system/app can stop the update or cause issues.
If you have a custom stock ROM you can just flash 4.3 ROMs from recovery. (TWRP, CWM)
I'd stick with the current boot loader you have if possible in case you want to downgrade later on.

In addition to what Last Sidekick said, I suggest you should read up on the effects and issues of 4.3 update. Particularly Knox and Warranty bit.
