Hello all,
Is there a way to switch around the internal and external storage on the gt-i8160? I am constantly running low on internal storage and because you can't transfer apps to external its rather annoying, considering I have a micro sdhc ultra with 16gb space which is nowhere near being full. I would also like to use it so I can use more memory-consuming apps that I've never been able to use before, like real racing 3 for example.
Thanks in advance!

Use an modified vold. fstab file
Lock in the root box Rom topic, there you can find one
but remember that you cant instal that vold.fstab on stock jb. you need other one
That's OK, I never use stock anyway. So will it work on both 4.1.2 and 4.2.2 jelly bean?
Also, is the zip flashable?

Yes, its flashable. Tested with Vanilla RootBox (JB 4.2.2)
One note: It seems, that Vanilla Rootbox has low wifi now (in my case: 8160P, MG2), unstable even next to the router. howewer, it works.

I have come from an xperia play, I used to be able to move apps to SD on it when it was running gingerbread or ICS. I have searched and searched but I cant even find it mentioned anywhere that this is not possible on the note 2. Any ideas?
It was also possible to mount the SD card to my computer, through usb sort of like a memory stick. I seem to only be able to to do a slow media transfer now.
This is my first post so forgive me if I have done anything wrong or something considered noobish.

Moving apps to sd is possible when the app lets you do it, just see the details for each app on the app manager.
As for the usb/media mode, guess you can't really choose anymore, but check your cable, mine seems pretty fast to transfer files

I have the 16GB model and I must say it fills up pretty fast. I am using DirectoryBind and it is working great for me. It requires root access and one or two reboots but it's well worth it.
Another solution to the low internal memory is a mod called Ext2InternalSd which basically switches between your internal and external memory. I find it quiete extreme as a solution but that's just my opinion.
We are stuck with MTP mode now instead of USB mass storage.
Its not bad, but at least with UMS I could see the previews of my images when connected to my computer. With MTP I can't

Welcome to jelly bean
scribbled from my note 2 (N7100)
ICS does not allow to install to SD Card/// You can run a script on a rooted rom that swaps the internal memory for the external... Look it up dude
Use airdroid. One of my favorite apps.. solution to mtp

My problem is just as the title says. First time this has happened to me, wondering if anyone else is experiencing this as well.
Oh btw it is a 2gb one and it says sd-c026 taiwan on the back. Could it be faulty? But i can transfer regular files to and from it.
Maybe, I had an issue with CWM not recognizing a particular sdcard.
Also I can't move App to sdcard with lupus jb kernal for some reason.

Do you have enough space on your SD card?
Are you rooted?

No doubt it's a real hassle when our internal space is small. There really seem to be too many possible causes, sucks. But i'm on the turbo kernel.

Yep, have like 1gb of free space still and yes, am rooted
You could try using link2sd. You can move apps to the SD card with it

It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
Thanks for all of your responses. The problem has since been solved after I had flashed a new rom. I must say, I was fascinated by the smoothness of gb roms after having chased the latest versions of android for the past idk how long.

There must be an option to move the app to your external storage in settings-->apps

Also, try an app called Super app2sd by Droidsail.

That app didn't work I'll keep digging around though hopefully this won't be a problem when jb rolls out the s3 can run apps from the sd and I remember the se play did as well. But thanks anyway guys

Some apps can not be run from the SD. I have run some things from my SD but tend to not need it as I don't have a ton of apps. Most the time I just use the built in function like has been pointed out. Most the time I just put games on the sd simply for how much space they take.
I would really like to free up some space on my internal SD. I bought a 64GB SD card , and am using FolderMount to try and move the apps, but to no avail. Anyone figure this out yet? I am rooted running Infamous S4, and have removed all of the bloatware possible. Still really low an memory.
I use the stock file manager to move apps, i had this same problem with storage. Do you have more than one backup saved on your internal sd?

Like I stated in the original post, I am using FolderMount. The problem is the folders where the games should be are empty when I look for them. That is the ones I can find. Its like they don't really exist. I went into my data folder, did find one game, Zynga Poker, and tried to move it, pinned it, and it did absolutely nothing.
Your not moving the whole folder then. Your doing something wrong. Watch a couple YouTube videos on how to. Navigate to SD card, android, data or obb and select one of your games inside either of those two folders

Hey guys, I need some help in doing the swap from Internal to External so that way I can install more apps. I was looking around I found External to Internal app, will it work fine on 4.3 ? And are there are other work around for 4.3 OS. I found guides but they are for 4.2.2 and below. Haven't been able to find one for 4.3 Not sure if they patched or the process it still same.
Many apps can be moved using the app management in Settings now. Have you tried that yet?

Yeah instead it just moves it to a different folder in phone storage. I think 4.3 killed sD cards.
I'm not really sure then. Though I'm pretty sure that ought to move them to the external card. Ive rarely had to use it, but I recall doing so always did for me.

for me , with ESfile explorer with root privileges i am able to move files/items back and forth quite easily. dont know if that would help your exact issue though.
err on the side of kindness
