Today when I was at work, I looked at my phone and had "An update is available for your device" pop up on my home screen. Since I was at work and only have 3G coverage, not 4G or LTE on Tmobile USA, I hit cancel, figuring I'd just wait til I get home and do the update. I get home, go under settings and software updates...it tells me my device has been modified and I can't update. I've rooted my phone but haven't done any custom ROMs yet. Anyone know what this supposed update is supposed to be?
You won't be able to update if rooted.

Hey all,
I could really use some advice. I live in North Carolina, my phone has worked just fine for over a year. Monday I went on a business trip to Dallas Texas and my phone won't connect to Voice or Data services at all. What can I do?
I tried turning airplane mode on and off, removing the battery, chatted with Sprint online, called the Support number. Sprint is NO help at all. They didn't outright tell me that my phone was broken, but practically did. I guess it just magically broke on the plane to Dallas??
Even in areas with good coverage, like my bars show good connection, I can't connect. I can hook to wifi just fine, but that is it. Sprint support told me that they can't even see where my phone has connected at all since I arrived in Texas.
Should I try flashing one of those PRLs from another thread? I'm not sure what to do. I assume that as is my phone will start working again when I get back to North Carolina though. I tried reflashing a "stock" rom and some of those "#" number calls, but none of them work since my phone isn't connected to any towers. Help!
Did u by chance try ##72786#? That's the hands free activation. Will turn ur phone off and should boot back up after a few seconds

That is what is so strange, I can dial that number, even from a stock rom, and my phone doesn't do anything, it just sits on "dialing" then makes the hang up noise after 15 or so seconds.
That's definitely weird! I'm from this area so I know it's not the water...lol. Have u taken to an actual sprint store?

Not yet, since I'm here on business I don't have much time to do that, but honestly I don't think they would be able to do much more than the support person over the phone did. I'd have to unroot it and all of that before bringing it in, the folks in the store would try those ## type calls, wipe my phone and reset it, then probably tell me my phone is broken and try to sell me another phone, especially since I am eligible for an upgrade.
I don't want to actually buy a new phone until I get back to NC since I still think my phone will start working once I am back there, which would be just as confusing.
This is the same phone I brought here to Texas last October and it worked fine, so I don't know what exactly the issue could be.
Check ur messages

If you are still having this issue I would suggest you try an app called Network Signal Refresher. It basicly updates your prl and profile by connecting you to the nearest tower

Or try flashing another radio

Thanks, I gave this a try, but it doesn't look like it worked. Part of the issueI think even for PRL updates is that my phone won't connect to the towers. Like with a Stock Rom in the Sprint Zone you can get to that section where you can do a Profile update and all of that, it always fails with a connection error. I gave that error message to Sprint support but they couldn't do anything with it. I will keep trying it though now and then.

Is there a good updated guide for doing that? I did that on my EVO 4G, but never on the S3. I haven't looked yet but I will check into it this evening for sure.
They could be working on the towers in the area. When they did in my area, it showed I had bars but could not text or call. I would try flashing the 2 PRL, as it helped me get my phone working until they fixed it or in your case until you get Home. I can upload it if you need it.

Hit that "Thanks" Button if I helped you!
I did search and came to the conclusion that since I am using ATT simcard inside my T Mobile Note 3 I will not receive OTA.
How would I go about getting OTA then?
Manually.

Samsung kies is another option... the updates actually comes faster through there.
Hi all,
I am currently running a non H3G ROM on my Note 2 LTE.
As Three UK are pushing out 4G to London users, I wondered if I would need to be on an official Three UK ROM for it to happen?
As I understand it, a message is sent to the phone and a reboot is then required for 4G to be activated.
Does anyone know?
I would call Three, but they are shocking with the easiest of questions - so I think this would blow their mind.
Many thanks!
Hi
I not in london but in cardiff and h3g were testing 4g and no message or reboot was needed.
I am on stock rom 4.1.2

Thanks for the info, but I want to know about non standard ROMs.
Out of curiosity, what speeds did you achieve on 4G?
Signal still a bit weak but looks promising

Hi Kieron,
Im running 4.1.2 baseband version N7105NEDMA1 Build number JZ054K.N7105XXDMB2 and have a N7105 LTE on Three UK, and am awaiting 4G to become active
I would just like to confirm this is what you are using as you have confirmed 4G Is working for you - or if anyone else has THREE 4G working on their N7105 what their baseband and build number is so that i can confirm im running the correct one to receive the update? Many thanks
It doesn't matter what ROM you are using I've found out.
There is no software update or any other change to the phone, an update is done on the network side only.
Mine switched on without notification or reboot.
Very strong in Central London and 40MB down and 20MB up.
You just need to wait your turn sadly.
hi,
im using sprint galaxy note 2 sph-l900 running 4.4 kitkat rooted and i cant get 4g lte, i can get only 3g if i use the cdma network mode. other modes(lte/cdma, gsm/umts, automatic) dont work. if i set to any other mode i wont get data or signal. i do update prl i get internal error (1500), when i restart my phone, hands free activation launches up and the n i get same error when it finishes.

This happened to me yesterday due to.....wait for it....solar flares. I was ready to throw my phone out the window. Then I saw the 6 o'clock news and they said it was happening to a ton of folks. Mine has been fine since yesterday evening. Not saying it's the same but it does sound similar.

Europe, Australia, and New Zealand are already on the chopping block. How are you seeing this update install itself? Does it come in via the service provider network or wifi as well? I removed the sim out of the N7 and popped it into another phone for the time being...
