So I just have a general question. I sent my phone in for repair. It's been gone for a week so far. When I get my phone back, will all of the texts people have sent me during that time still show up on my phone? Or is there a time limit after which those messages will expire if not delivered by then? Of course, this is all assuming Samsung doesn't wipe my phone clean before sending it back...
If it hasnt been wiped then they should still all be there. The messages work on a per message basis not time. Say your limit was 200 messages (you can change this in the setting of the messaging app). So when you got message #201 then the oldest message #1 would be deleted. This is also per contact thread.
sent from my Provari with a mini rda!

Hi there
For a while nowI've been experiencing problems with text messages not arriving, but they do end up in my sent items.
There is no real pattern to which messages do and do not arrive at the cellphone I'm sending them too, although I do notice that it ussualy are longer messages (i.e. a couple of lines of text instead of just 1 or 2).
I've tried 5 or 6 different roms in the last couple of weeks but I have the same problem with each of them so it is not the rom.
I've read somewhere that too much reflasig of your device can cause strange problems could this be what I'm experiencing? any help would be very much appreciated!
ive noticed this too! usually its quite a large text, along 3 sms amounts in one go. the recipent doesnt recieve the text but it is in my sent items. i didnt know whether it was the rom i was using , my operator or even a hardware issue but i know its damn annoying when sending important messages.
im on O2, which provider are you with?
I'm also on O2 and have occaisionally had this problem on my diamond, atom life and wizard. The way to avoid it seems to be....
1. Use Advance Config to turn on both Message Sent and Delivery notifications
2. When sending a message DO NOT close the messaging app until the notifications have been received. (if the message is more than one SMS long you will get multiple notifications)
For some reason, if you close the app too quickly, the message fails.
I'm on Vodafone NL
Thanx for the replies, I'll try your suggestions! hope it works, it's really irritating not knowing if my GF received my sms
Hey guys, I'm having a problem lately.
My MMS messeges are disappearing after downloading. Nowhere to be found. It started after I had installed GOSMS. So I deleted the program, But continued to have the problem.
Its rooted and running Warm Z twopointtwo with the latest Netarchy kernal. All radio/pri/prl profiles are up to date.
Ive read about all texts disappearing but that is not my problem. Only new MMS are disappearing. Not all the time, but sometimes it happens. I can't find them in Handcent (default text program) nor the stock message program.
Go back in a ways in the thread. When I get new mms they are time stamped from whatever server they are coming from, so they appear to be received about 6 hours earlier and pop up in between old texts.
Im still not seeing them. Could they be auto deleting from the time stamp? I have my MMS limit set to auto delete at 10 because I get alot of MMS's.
You could try increasing the limit just to see if that works. Do you have a limit on txt too? I would increase the limit on both. And I,m sure you already knew this, but when you reach the top of your message thread you can hit the botton to show more messages. I would just keep going back until the first message. They are in there somewhere.
Thanks. I'll try that. I do have them limited to 225 texts per person because I text alot. I'll remove all MMS from the convo and see what happens next time this happens, If it is indeed farther back in the convo. It's just odd I've never had this problem before I installed gosms. I have been using the ROM 3 week prior. the night I installed gosms is the night it started messing up.
I know, this is my third open topic on a different issue...:-\
Ever since I got my phone, everytime it reboots it sends a batch of previously sent messages to a few contacts. The messages that are being sent did indeed go through when initially sent, however the cases that the phone selects a few recent contacts and sends a batch of sms messages again. T mobile is no help, I know xda is
Sent from my SGH-T989 using XDA App
I'm having the exact same problems. I've noticed some messages say "sending" even though they've already been sent and received by the other person. Once I reboot, those messages get resent.
I've searched but haven't found anything
I fixed it by uninstalling SMS Popup. If you have that installed I recommend removing it.
i use Go SMS, and i can send the a whole load of friends at the same time without any crash
so ive tried handcent, gosms and pansi and all seem to have the same problem.
When ever i try to send a group text message i get an undelivered error message. Now weather its because a contacts number is incorrect or what ever other reason no one else in the group will get the message.
Is there a limit to how many recipients i can send a message? On my evo i couldnt add any more than 40.
This is getting rather frustrating especially being that i am pass my 14 day trial period on this phone. Im starting to think i shouldve waited for the HTC One to come out
Try Group SMS free. It allows you to send through your normal carrier or a Google voice account....which is free texting. I use it all the time!
Hope this helps.
ok ive downloaded the app mentioned but cant figure out how to forward a message. I tried copying from the phones messenger app but wont let me paste, and this app wont allow me to view my messages.
Before I switched to sprint I had used T-Mobile LG G3. The default messaging app split long text messages into two or three, and I received long messages in similar chunks. But I used the Textra messaging app and it ceased to do that. Long messages sent as one as well as receiving 500+ character text.
Now, being with sprint the problems have re-appeared and I an unable to fix it. Textra does not change the sms limits so I send multiple text to friends and likewise with receiving. This is not a huge issue just a major inconvenience and a nuisance.
Are there setting I'm messing, apps that will help, anything i can do to keep long message as one? Please and thank you for your help.
I think it's a Sprint issue. I've been with them for a long time and always remember this happening. However, if there is a fix, I'd love to know it also.

Sprint has the 160 character limit for SMS texting. If you want to text longer messages as a single message, you either need to use an instant messaging app like Google Hangouts (though those require the recipient to also have the messaging app), or find a texting app that can convert long messages to MMS if it goes past the 160 character limit. These solutions will convert the SMS to MMS or other forms of data, though, so just be aware of that if you have some sort of data limit.
If the converting SMS to data is not a viable solution, a quick google search revealed this app: BigSMS, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=skezza.main&hl=en.
It supposedly can make long texts, but I have never used it myself, so I can't comment on if it works or not.

As I said before, I used Textra in the past and my messages were sent as one and I received long messages as one. I recently downloaded EvolveSms which fixed the issue of my messages being split by converting them into MMS (which i have no problem with at all) but I still got 4 separate chunks of their message. I know there's an option to reassemble split messages but it seems to not be working. I'll go to a sprint store to see if there's an issue there or not.

Ok, Good luck with with the Sprint customer rep. The split SMS thing never bothered me since I've been on Sprint for a very long time. However, I did a quick google search, and it does seem like some devices have native support for recombining received SMS messages, like the Sprint Galaxy S 5, so it does look like it can work. Hopefully they can do it on the G4 as well.
