Why were the ext2 mod threads been locked? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note II

I've searched for answers but found nothing. I've been using the ext2 mod with no problems. Performance did increase along with battery life.
However, upon checking for any updates, the threads had been locked with no explanation why. I'm just worried that maybe it was deemed to permanently brick our phone so I need to know.
Please, anyone who knows why please fill me in lol. Thanks

Didn't have anything to do with that thread, you're fine... have to leave it at that

Rom and battery saving kernel question

I am currently using nuggys Rom and i was wondering which would be the best kernel to use to maximize battery life? I have been researching this issue for a while and haven't found a solution

Most people will tell you to that there is no solid answer, you just have to flash kernel's and test because no two phones are alike.
A kernel that saves battery for me might not save battery for you. Also, give it about a week for your ROM to get used to your kernel. If it drains fast, re-flash another kernel and repeat until you find what fits.
^agrees^
me personaly i tried a couple of different ones and the one that works great with me is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10772235&postcount=101 this one was tweak with a battery saver script ..... give that one a go if you want to but give it a couple of days to settle in
I have always used baked kernels, there are plenty of options. Baked speed, baked battery, and the one used In 1.9, Hero laptop kernel, works great as well.
i am beyond surprised this thread hasn't gone up in flames yet..
please, from now on, post questions in the Q&A section. you'll most likely find better answers there.

[Q]Doc's on phone boot process?

I'm thinking of doing some scary phone mods (culminating in booting from an encrypted filesystem) but don't know enough about the phone boot process to know where to start.
Can anyone point me to some documentation about the android boot sequence?
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using Tapatalk
I understand you want to make a mod..that still doesn't mean a question about it goes here.
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA Premium App
So, a question like "how do I change how my phone boots?" Doesn't belong in the *developer* forum? That's a little counterintuitive. Would this be better in one of the general dev forums?
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using Tapatalk
We don't make the rules or even necessarily agree with them, but this forum is for more final products/roms. Think tank type topics don't belong here. Our g2 forum is getting so busy and big that its already getting hard to keep track of all the roms on here. If this was allowed this would just becoming a flaming mess. Not being combative just stating what someone else is surely to say.

here is a great place to find info of the 'low level' life of the phone: http://tjworld.net/wiki/Android/HTC/Vision
talking to certain guys at #g2root might help too.
Thanks, that's exactly what I'm looking for.

GPS lock with navigation

Please help i have been searching and see this is a problem , but unable to find solution
Google Nav says searching for GPS and never locks on until a reboot the phone then it will lock for one time , and search if I go back to using it
this problem started when I upgraded to
4.1.2 JB GB08
do i have to re flash the phone to different software version ?
can I install a custom recovery being on this version
I put this in the other thread you posted about this topic. Hope this helps. - Try updating to GB27 modem, updating PRL and profile. I had issues with GB08 too. Also, try Comadose tweaks Goddly put together. It's in the dev forum. It has a jb gps lock tweak. Good luck!

I wouldn't even bother with this... The dude has spammed the forums with the same question. If you aren't going to search for yourself, you are out of luck. Posting the exact same question 4 times in the course of a few days will not help you. Have you tried anything that anyone has said to you to fix it? I see no steps taken to resolve your issue, yet multiple posts including necro threading with you asking people to give you the answer. There are many threads and many fixes.

Thanks for the heads up brother. Just trying to contribute how I can. My knowledge is very limited compared to you guys, but I thought I would try to help with issues I know I've had myself and was able to troubleshoot by reading posts on here.

ClockWorkMod Cache wipes don't work.

Does anyone else have to wait 15 minutes to create a backup and almost 20 minutes restoring one? It has NEVER taken this long to things in recovery on ANY device I've owned before. I just made a backup(14mins), tried a mod that wouldn't boot, then restored the backup I made(19mins). I lost 26% battery just using cwm. *SOLVED*
*STILL STILL UNRESOLVED*
Also, wiping cache DOESNT work. It gets stuck, and just hangs there. Even when doing a factory reset, hangs on cache wipe. Just wondering if I'm the only one who has these issues, or if that's normal for this device. I noticed there is a twrp release, but I haven't read any comments from anyone who's tried it, so I'm not sure if it would be any faster.

If you would have bothered to go through the CWM thread, you would have found the solution to your problem. Download ROM Manager from the market, go to Settings, switch Quick Backup and Restore ON.
If I had posted this in the development section, then maybe you could give me a smartass answer like that. But asking questions is what Q&A section is for. Anyway I found the answer in the thread, and came back to post saying I had found it. On my own. With no help from your pointlessly sarcastic answer. So thanks d**k.
Have a nice day.

And you still don't have an answer as to why cache wipes don't work. So the OP is still valid with an unanswered question....
If anyone whose less.of a.sarcastic smartass can answer, that would be fantastic.

Wow! Who pissed in your breakfast today? Just because I pointed out that the FIRST post in the CWM Recovery thread clearly mentioned a problem with slow backups and how to resolve it, makes me a ****?
EDIT: Oh and I dont have an answer for your cache wipe problem is because I dont have it. And judging by the replies on the CWM thread, no one does either.

No need to, just press the THANKS button
Why answer a question with "if you had bothered to read..... Blah blah blah" instead of.just a regular one. Sometimes asking a question results in a faster answer than searching. I couldn't.find it right away, so I posted a quick q&a.
Anyway, maybe I flipped my sh*t a little quick, lol. I apologize. I just don't like being accused of not searching or reading. Cause I hate unnecessary threads. Sony devices are different than most with locked and unlocked bootloader, rules, Roms and recoveries. Then we have the Z and ZL, which are.the same... but different. Can be a bit confusing, lol.
Anyway, if anyone has any ideas why my cache wipes hang forever and.require a.reboot,.that would be great.

I did answer your question, in case you were too occupied with fuming over the 'if you had read' part
And the 'if you had read' part was necessary not just for you, but even the n00bs, who unlike you wouldnt even bother searching, and create a new thread with a question that has been already answered.
Anyway, you could always reflash the recovery again and see if the cache wipe works. If not, then maybe a dev can help. Try asking in the Z forums, devs visit the threads on a regular basis.

Hey! can you tell me how to root the Grand and a good rom that works dual sim mode? Ive heard that CM 11 is good
Thanks a bunch!
well try this link http://www.kingoapp.com/ you can download it free but you have to enter a serial no. to get the phone rooted if not it wont root it just run and it doesnt root the device...
And for the Custom rom you asked.. I must say CM 11 does not support dual sim function neither any ASOP based roms have this function for the time being but try Pyramid_k3 rom and GENNXT SUPERIOR ROM. I've personally used these roms and they are really good. But be adviced that the device must be upgraded to 4.2.2 stock rom to run these roms
Good luck!
Galaxy Trend Plus
Is there any chance of porting the 4.4 rom from Samsung Ace Style (the new one) to Samsung Galaxy Trend Plus?
The hardware is the same, except for the RAM on Ace Style which is 512MB and Trend Plus is 768...
Trend Plus is currently 4.2.2 only, and have no custom rom
I use custom ROMs in my galaxy grand duos....but there is some problem with my ext SD card.....it keeps on mounting itself as read only....if I manually unmount and then remount it then it is rewritable but after some time it again mounts as read only.....any help plzz....

Hey!
I dont think its something to do with your rom since you have tried to format the sd via pc too.. What kind of format did you choose? Was it a Normal format or quick format? if its a quick format you did try doing a normal one which consumes time but it works? What about the maker is it a good micro sd card maker like sandisk or kingston etc etc...? it might be the prob cuz there are loads of fake sds in the industry sometimes they tend to go bad when it used in high data exchanges... Lastly have you tried uisng another sd card and trying to do whatever the process you trying to do?? if not try it then you can surely know its a sd card prob or not...!
Good luck !
I have not read the posts properly... Bt got 1 idea that ur card not detected after you format via pc...
Do one thing u must have formated using Normal settings... You were wrong here... Just format with FAT... Not with FAT32...doesn't matter if u do with quick format or normal format... But slow format is recommended...
