I'm on cm10.2 and I can't seem to open Web pages on 3g. Especially Google pages. Other pages sometimes load slowly.
It works fine when I'm on 4G or wifi. The weird thing is, if I'm connected to an Airave I can get Web pages to load. Also at my work place, there are sprint repeaters in the building so Web pages load fine there. It seems when I'm outside of home and work Web browsing with 3g sucks. It's only Web browsing too... Other things work like apps that use data such as creating this post, while on 3g, using Tapatalk.
It's happened with cm10.1 and TW as well.
I've tried the following with no good results:
Reflashing Cm10.1 / 2
Flashing touch wiz
Hands free activation
Different prls
Enabling and disabling adaway
Anyone have any advice?
Anyone?

Still having this problem. I'm using Pac Man ROM 4.2.2. I notice that if I am on EHRPD I cannot access anything. However my the other line on my account has an EVO 4G LTE, on stock ROM, not rooted can view web pages fine on the same 3g Network.

I have been feeling out my 4G connection for awhile now, and I am still having a strange experience with it. Speed tests always give good results, but actually using 4G for daily tasks is not working out well so far. Often times it loads pages and market or maps slower than with 4G...
I had been having this off and on all week, but I thought it was just my poor 4g connection at home. Anyway, now I'm writing from a mall with a very strong connection. Now I'm noticing when I load a page or open maps/market, it actually disconnects from 4G and loads with 3G for a second or two then switches back..
I've been using fresh, dc, and bugless ROMs, and always with the latest radio. I've had to apply the 4G patch a few times to get 4G working, but once it's up, it behaves the same...
Is it the ROM, my phone, or the nature of 4G in philadelphia?
I'd guess it's the nature of the 4g. It's still a new market. One thing, the bars on your phone only show the connection to the tower, not the connection to the internet. My 4g has been like that in places around Dallas, but closer to the heart of Dallas, I get more consistent connection. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but that just seems to be the nature of technology here on the bleeding edge.
I might add, that for whatever reason, I cannot load my XDA bookmark to the evo 4g page on 4g at all, but it loads fine on 3g or wifi. I have yet to understand that one. Other pages seem to load ok though.
I've also noticed issues on xda, I think it's related to flash. I noticed if I load flash only sites on 4G it never loads or takes a stupid long time... If I cut to 3G it loads fine... On xda, it's the flash ads..
Having the phone process information and display it is much different then just doing a speed test. I'm in Philly also - but only use the 4G for tethering.

I agree completely, but the issue is that, on some pages (usually with flash) It loads and displays the information faster on 3G than on 4G... I'm not sure what would cause that. I'll try tethering and see if it's the same... I'll also try 4G when I'm in central philly...
I wonder if flash determines what quality to stream the content at? Like if you use sprint tv on 4g you will get higher quality video but it can be laggy trying to catch up to the stream. When on 3g the quality is a little less but doesn't skip around at all.
I'm having similar issues with my 4G connection. Some pages won't come up. The progress bar loads up to about 50% then either takes a really long time to bring up the page or not at all. All I get is a blank page. The xda forums are one of the sites I'm having problems with also. It loads up fine over 3G and WiFi. I'm currently running the OMJ rom, latest Radio, and the Fresh 4G fix. I'm not sure if the problem lies with my rooted Evo or the 4G network.

That makes sense to me. Still, it seems strange that the network or phone one struggles to keep up like that. Ah well, like I said, the nature of things out here on the bleeding edge.
i have experienced similar 4g/3g flipflopping behavior and pisspoor wifi. its like the radio is very slow to get a connection as coming out of the pocket and then while in use it will go to 3g then say it's found a 4g and get on that and back to 3g. sometimes i'll see 4g w/ full strength but am unable to do any internet functions (web browser, pandora, meebo, appbrain all fail indicating no network). by putting it into Airplane mode...count to 3...take it out of airplane mode the radio reconnects and is able to pass data as expected.
i have done full cache, delvikcache, (and the other whatchamacallit) formatting between builds. and cleared the cache after updating the radio (even tho i shouldn't need to for Fresh .3)
i have not fussed with App2SD nor anything Flash related.
not sure if i live/work on the "edge" of coverage or if it's EVO (software or hardware) related. I"m leaning more to the coverage at this point. between testing it more as i move around town and next weeks froyo builds maybe the 4g gods will shine down upon me.
Increase WiMAX_Idle_Sleep(s) setting
I had the same issue and found these instructions which show how to increase WiMAX_Idle_Sleep(s) setting.
hit ##DATA# > Edit mode.
Put in your msl code
Chose WIMAX
Scroll down to Wimax_Idle_Sleep
Change the value from 10 to 300.
Click menu, commit changes and restart the phone.
See ' [GUIDE] Easy way to get MSL without calling Sprint or using CMDA Workshop' to get MSL Code, or just call Sprint and ask for it.

I work in Philly and have the 3g 4g connection problems too. Your fix did not work for me. No matter what Rom or fix I've tried I can't keep a stable 4g connection without the stock Rom flashed. Sometimes WiFi tether will work on 4g with a custom Rom but anything else and I have all kinds of connection issues. I don't think its the network because 4g connection cards work just fine.
Edit: my main cause of concern is that simultaneous talk and data. I like to be able to talk and still follow sports scores while working. Sticking to stock for now.
I rooted my phone to CyanogenMod-7.0.0-RC2-Slide on March 26. I am unable to log into any SSL secured apps or web pages when on WiFi. It works fine on the G3 Network, so I am pretty sure this is strictly a WiFi issue not related to browser settings, etc. I have searched the xda forum and Google and haven't found anything similar reported for CM7. Any suggestions? I have reinstalled the radio updates and CM 7 several times to no avail.
I honestly think it's the wifi network your connecting to and not the rom. I could be wrong though. Try connecting to a different network and see the results.

Unfortunately this occurs regardless of the WiFi access point I am in (home, work, friends, hotspots). I am able to browse the internet fine on WiFi until I come to an SSL page. Or if I try to log in to an SSL secured app. Essentially it times out on me every time. Again, this is not a problem on the 3G network. I can switch over to 3G and view or log in just fine.
Tons of people have had WiFi issues with CM7, myself included. Something with the hardware source code not being released by HTC. I myself do not use CM7 strictly because I'm so dependent on WiFi. You can try this though, have bluetooth and WiFi enabled at the same time and see if it helps with your WiFi issues.
I recently flashed my phone to metro pcs and now my web browser wont work. I cant still access the market and youtube app but my internet web browser wont load any pages. I even downloaded Dolphin browser and still no fix. Please help. Its getting very annoying. Thank.

I would flash back to Sprint. Works.
sprint's network is down, no 3g or 4g or even roaming on vz 3g works
I'm also having issues with both Sprint's 3G and 4G in St. Paul, MN. It shows that I have signal, but no data is able to load (including google voice text messages).
my 4g is back up at in stl, haven't checked 3g
yeah, had full signals but data could not get through
I suspect they were doing some network upgrades for the iphone (probably edge routers) and it went wonky.
I run Myn's Warm 2.2 rls 5. I don't live in a 4G area, typically have between 3-5 (out of 6) bars of 3G signal, and i am located inside a building. I have been using wireless tethering recently (starting 2 months ago) for connecting my laptop to the internet and using Mozilla Thunderbird for my email client. While it has been painfully slow since i started actually using wireless tether a couple of months ago, the last two days i have been unable to get certain data at all through the "Android Tether." Interestingly enough, i can download new email, but i cannot send new email, or save messages to the drafts folder. I cannot open web pages or go to gmail in Chrome or Firefox. It worked fine last week. Now i'm just getting time outs on the laptop. I ran the Speedtest.net mobile speed test app on the phone and i got and average Ping, DL, and UL of around 300ms, 200kbps, and 50 kbps, respectively, over about 3 tests in the last hour. I stumbled on an article (http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2394831,00.asp#fbid=ZeswhqErVcl)something recently about the Iphone affecting Sprints data network, but i'd prefer to try some troubleshooting before i chalk it up to increased data demand network wide. I've restarted the phone, computer etc. What troubleshooting should i try next?
Thanks
Hey TurbineTester,
You may want to try the filterproxy app that was discussed in the thread that I have linked below. It improved my 3G tethering speeds and it fixed my 4G tethering as well.

I hope it works out for you.

Thanks for your mail.
I'm running jelly bean on a GN with straight talk and only certain apps have access to data via hspa. For instance Google Voice and Google Play have no network access over hspa but chrome and speed test have no problems. Everything works fine over WiFi. Is anyone else having this issue?
Are you using the "proxy" in your APN settings?
I'm using ST w/ no proxy and have had no issues like that.
Hi I'm on vanilla android version 4.1.1 and not rooted. Since the 16th of this month, I've been having issues with data connection on my GNexus on the Three UK network. I noticed the 3G and H icons on my device keeps switching back and forth continuously and when this happens, access to the internet stalls. Can't seem to use apps or access web contents. For example, the Flipboard app is having difficulty updating my contents when the 3G and H issue starts. I've been in touch with the network to find out if it's from their end but was told no problem with network connection.
Is there a problem with my 3g radio.
PS no issue with WiFi connection
