Is it just me? Tempered Glass Screen Proctector

Is it just me or do i have a weird Nexus 5?
I purchased these tempered glass screen protector:
MIME
Anker
iloome Flex
I am having a bit of frustration. The MIME and Anker both thicker than iloome Flex have both created "exact" small bubble areas between the led notification light. The bubbles are small and are about the size of half a grain of rice. It is very annoying. I have attempted to push the bubbles out but they always and will tend to just come back to its original form. I am mind blown. I ordered the Anker brand first and figured it was a defect to which I ordered MIME version and it was the exact same problem. Anyone experience this?
iloome Flex fits just fine but it is a bit thin with no bubbles but it doesn't feel the same as a thicker one like MIME or Anker.

I noticed a small dimple in my screen when I was looking at an overhead light being reflected off the screen. The image seemed slightly distorted. You could try that to see if you have the same issue.

Very strange I'm using the iloome on my Note 3 I've had zero issues
I'm using The Mime Feather on my N5 awesome zero issues
It sounds to me like you have gotten like oil from a or some other foreign substance right there where the problem lays I would
Try to lift up the bottom with a razor blade and take a Q tip with some monster cleaner on it or something of that
Nature it's just really weird that happening in the same spot I'll bet money there's a foreign substance on phone
Since it's happened more then once I'll rule out the Protector itself, if your anything like me it probably you

Quite a few people were reporting this with all the early glass protectors. The phone's can have small dimples and if the adhesive isn't strong enough this can happen. I wouldn't count out the grease mark idea either though.

According to the shop I purchased from, it is normal because the tempered glass are flat. But the screen is not exactly flat. That's why. I am not quite too sure about this. But I chose to tolerate with it because I am happy with the build of the material.

The first edition of the Spigen glas.tr had the same problem. They recalled them, made it thinner, thus more flexible, and increased the amount of adhesive, and the new version adheres perfectly, no bubbles.

you need a thinner flexible protector because the phone is very pliable... it's kind freaky but occasionally if you put it down on a table it will rock on the corners. but you can actually straighten the phone with just a little twist. my samsung phones were light and had some give but they had much better memory/elasticity... not so much maliability/ductility. one member sat on his n5 the first week and the screen ended up curving like a smasung gnex or nexus s resulting in some light bleed but a functional phone otherwise... i've never really liked the way lg makes a phone but i do love the overall package... i mean this thing is really fast and i love stock android simplicity.

I'm on my second Spidgen Glass.Tr (first one I got dust particles on). Both originally kept giving me air bubbles in the upper right hand portion of the screen I was able to work them out but it took a long time. Possible surface bump on the glass on the phone, perhaps on yours as well.

CRYSTAL ARMOR Ultra Thin Full Flat Tempered Glass Protector. Claimed to be the worlds thinnest; so thin, in fact, that they claim that a sensor hole cutout is necessary. Of course, it comes at a price. And that is a wallet gouging ¥5,000. Although on the product page they say that the shipping is included, they still said they had to charge me another ¥250. So I ended up paying ¥5,250 for a single sheet of glass...
They seem to have made the shipping free so it is "only" ¥5,000 now which makes me feel ripped off.
UPDATE: It's actually a promotion apparently for this month as their nice rep informed me.
The customer support at Crystal Armor is great. The English support team swiftly answered my inquiries, and even emailed me when I ordered a second one to double check if it was a mistake or not

I tentatively open the package to reveal...
Nothing but the screen protector.
It's packaged nicely and all, but I can't help but feel a bit let down to find nothing else included in a ¥5,000 product. There is only film over the adhesive side of the protector too
Its thinness is something else though. This still has the protective film on.
A quick mockup shows the fitment to be spot on

I found the corner to be the easiest to lift.
It's just peeling from now on.

Ahhhh, real glass!
I first thought I used too much WD-40 to clean the glass, but it turns out that even nail polish remover wasn't enough. After multiple passes with optical cleaning towel and nail polish remover, the screen only looks clean. A quick wipe with a cheap microfiber towel reveals tons of lint stuck onto the glass, and the glass feels slightly sticky to the touch, especially at the edges. Running water over the glass shows spots at the corners where the residue still remains, as the water flows around the spots.
After more rubbing with nail polish remover the spots seem to have mostly disappeared, but the screen still feels slightly sticky. Maybe the residue will wear off after a week of usage, but so far I have to recommend prospective ASF removers to put a screen protector over the bare glass.
I've given up for now. I'll just install the protector right over without worrying about the residue since it's not visible anyways. I just washed the towels and letting them to dry, and I'll get the protector installed in my washroom after my shower tonight to be as safe as possible. It is an expensive single usage protector after all.
On a side note, if you do this to your dock you'll be able to use it even with a thick screen protector
The Big Mistake
Well I think I've just made the biggest f***up in my Android related life. So badly that I managed to actually crack the glass protector
But instead of mourning for the new wound in my wallet, I'll have to make the best of this broken piece of glass and make a cracked screen protector review until the replacement arrives.
First of all, the screen protector is seriously thin. Keep in mind that this is my first glass screen protector, but this is definitely much thinner than the glass protector that my friend has on his Z1. It's so thin that it still fits in the magnetic charging dock, although I don't recommend this, as the dock scuffs up the rear ASF enough already without the added thickness. The thinness combined with the rounded edges make this feel extremely smooth at the edges, and my fingers glide on and off the edges like its nothing.
Speaking of gliding, the oleophobic coating is nice and slick. I've been rubbing my fingers and palms over it and the coating isn't letting up. I'm sure I've put enough finger oils on it to equal a month's usage and all I've been doing is wiping it off with a shirt and it's still holding up very well.
The size of the screen protector is pretty much exactly the size of the display glass so you must be extremely careful while installing it. Because I ruined mine I just quickly matched 2 edges on one side and put it down. I highly urge everyone to use the masking tape hinge method and take your time to hexacheck for a perfect fitment. Yes you can peel it off and reapply but you have an extremely high chance of cracking your glass. The protector is flexible to a degree but definitely not enough for you to peel it off the screen unless you are some master at peeling off protectors with minimal angle.
My heart bled as I folded this screen protector in half for the sake of science.
As you can see, the protector does not shatter, so it does a perfectly fine job as a replacement for your factory anti shatter film.
In an extreme case of folding in the edge like a page in a book, a very small piece of glass detached itself from the glass but proved to be harmless like the glass particles that also fell out of the cracks.
And of course I had to forget the scratch test. The protector, while having cracks all over, laughed at the futility of the multiple knives from around the house but was ultimately defeated by 150 grit sandpaper which left scratches too small for me to bother to attempt to capture with a camera. Back to the garbage can it goes.

The ASF Free Experience
Feels good to be touching actual glass :angel:
But because there is no coating on the glass, fingerprints and smudges build up very very quickly, and I had to clean it frequently. Because there's no coating on it there's a bit of friction against your fingertips. I'm sure that some Rain-X or some sort of glass sealant will make the screen a lot more smooth (friction wise, there's no texture on the glass obviously).
Now don't expect the display to magically improve without the ASF. It doesn't become more vibrant, bright, or have any better viewing angles.
But don't think that removing the ASF is pretty much pointless and is a stupid move. The ASF is a stupid move. Unless you slap a screen protector over the ASF as soon as you get the phone, you are going to get scratches because the ASF is so soft. So I got fed up with the marks and decided to just remove it. Now you have glass that is actually hard. Some people are just anti-protector and that's perfectly fine. The Dragontrail glass is tough and it's not gonna get scratched that easily. I think running the bare glass with some sort of sealant, oleophobic coating , or a mix you'll have a nice feeling anti-fingerprint glass. Just reapply when the coating wears off.

They included a microfiber cloth this time (I wonder if they read my review )
The tab for peeling off the protective film is also a lot easier to peel off this time.
I couldn't use the hinge method to install this protector because the duct tape just won't stick. Not sure if it's a good thing because the coating is strong or if it's a bad thing because I misaligned thanks to not having a hinge.
Also trapped a spec of fiber, which ironically is probably from the microfiber cloth they provided... Luckily it's so small that I can only find it with my face about 8cm from the screen.
Having this protector on is also definitely visible, due to the rounded corners
Also leaks a bit of light at the side like the edge of a lit acrylic panel (reference)
The coating is indeed very smooth in case I haven't mentioned it enough. My fingers glide on it with pretty much no friction, and because the screen is now raised a bit I don't feel the ridge at the end of the screen anymore. And because it's so smooth you don't have to use much force on the screen so it leaves even less marks. All the pictures I've taken are after 1 day of use and no cleaning at all. And I went snowboarding with it and it didn't crack so don't think its weak just because I goofed the first time.
My camera lens is 14-24mm which is useless for macro so here's a video for you guys

Short Term Experience
In the first week, it was oleophobic heaven. Super slick, almost completely fingerprint-proof. The few smudges come off extremely easily.
Towards the end of week 2 it has become less oleophobic. It's not extremely slick like new but it is still very good. Smudges and prints come off just from taking the phone out of the pocket.
End of week 3 had me a bit worried. Has the oleophobic coating worn off already? Fingerprints go on pretty easily and it is not very slick. Then I realized that in this entire time I have not once cleaned the screen with any cleaning solution, only wiping it down with a microfiber cloth.
So I did that and the slickness is back. It feels more like week 2... At least for a few days.
So now I clean the screen regularly and when the screen is clean it's much easier to wipe off fingerprints.

how was the placing of the screen protector? the nillkin has almost 2 millimiters gaps from the sides so it's quite easy to fit, but it doesn't cover the whole screen though... but still almost all of it, it looks good.

I think the greatest weakness of the 0.2mm will be its... weakness. The thinness probably makes it more prone to cracking than the thicker protectors, but it is also probably more flexible, so who knows. It's definitely not super fragile though, I was just being stupid.
Also want to add that the customer support at Crystal Armor is great. The English support team swiftly answered my inquiries, and even emailed me when I ordered a second one to double check if it was a mistake or not :good:
So while I wait for the second protector to come in, I'll be using the phone without an ASF and I'll do a writeup on that in a few days as well.

sorry to see that buddy.... try nillkin next time it's smaller than the screen so it's very easy to fit, i did it without hinges, and it's also super slick, i sometimes have a hard time texting cos my fingers are sliding on the glass...

I don't see how a smaller screen protector makes it easier to fit, having to match the spacing on each side will definitely test the very limits of my patience, and I know I'll mess up and get reminded of my mistake every single time I use the phone.

I have just received my front and back protector from Crystal Armour. For the front I got the 0,2mm version and for the back 0,33mm.
Later I will show you some photos.
I uploaded a comparison between Glass M and Crystal Armour, both 0,2mm thin, you can see there the difference in size of the protector.
I like that the CA haven't got a proximity sensor cut out, it is working without any issues.
And for the back protector I have to say, no flash cut out and no flash-light bleeding in photos.

Nice info. Any pictures of the back glass? I was contemplating getting it but I'm not sure if I even need glass on the back side.

I like the feel of the back with the glass, because of rounded edges. Also less fingerprints and it's easy to remove them.
Before the glass I had a foil, I disliked it, because of scratches and fingerprints, it looked very cheap.

Hmmm.. My main concern for the back is the fingerprints so maybe a good oleophobic coating on the glass after removing the ASF would be good... Or I could just get a cheap rear glass...

But because there is no coating on the glass, fingerprints and smudges build up very very quickly, and I had to clean it frequently. Because there's no coating on it there's a bit of friction against your fingertips. I'm sure that some Rain-X or some sort of glass sealant will make the screen a lot more smooth (friction wise, there's no texture on the glass obviously).
Now don't expect the display to magically improve without the ASF. It doesn't become more vibrant, bright, or have any better viewing angles.
But don't think that removing the ASF is pretty much pointless and is a stupid move. The ASF is a stupid move. Unless you slap a screen protector over the ASF as soon as you get the phone, you are going to get scratches because the ASF is so soft. So I got fed up with the marks and decided to just remove it. Now you have glass that is actually hard. Some people are just anti-protector and that's perfectly fine. The Dragontrail glass is tough and it's not gonna get scratched that easily. I think running the bare glass with some sort of sealant, oleophobic coating , or a mix you'll have a nice feeling anti-fingerprint glass. Just reapply when the coating wears off.

Yep you need to order from their page here which is specifically for out of Japan orders.

Tempered glass recommendation? (not XGear please)

Hey guys, I'm having trouble finding any brand left that sell tempered glass for this phone.
The only one I found is XGear, base on the image I am certain that the designed is by having the adhesive stickers on the bezel/edges only, while the viewable area isn't adhesive. I have used tempered glass of similar design before and it is terrible. Since the adhesive stickers are thin on the edges, its not very durable and can leave gaps or pop out (especially since this is a curved screen), and let water in. It will also cause "rainbow effects" due to the gap between the two glasses. There are Amazon reviews that reflected my concern.
I'm looking for something like this which have the entire surface being clear and able to stick.
Doesn't seem like there are any available, but I wouldn't mind using tempered glass for another phone model that could fit on the Nexus screen, I think that's the best way to go. But I won't receive my Nexus in a few days, then I can see if the screen protector of the Moto X fit inside the Galaxy Nexus screen.

Bought a Nillkin Tempered GLass for my Note 3. Guess what.....after a month, the screen cracked by itself! I'm very sure it was not caused by wrong handling nor impact. All this 9H hype by Nillkin is just bull! Choose another brand!

Well I just decided to order a second i-Blason for the Moto X and put it on the Nexus. Kind of awkward, but it work. Couldn't fully stick because of the curved glass though, but the adhesive is durable enough so I'm not worried.

funny how purchases get based on "user" reviews. i read all 12, and the bad reviews remind of typical users that don't read directions, don't follow directions and then think if they pitch a fit with the manf and bad mouth the product they'll be redeemed of their stupidity.

it cracks? really? it's glass, treat it as such and pay attention to 1 & 2 above.
install tip: align and start from one end. it's not a bumper sticker, do not apply it as such.
dots and rainbow? if turned off and angled just right you can see it. turn it on and they're gone. the rainbow kind of reminded of how some windshields look while wearing polarized sunglasses.
i mostly lurk these forums but couldn't let this go. i've had my xgear tempered glass protector on for 2yrs without issue. i will buy more from them if available and my device doesn't have gorilla glass.
well worth the $30+ i spent at the time, has saved my phone too many times to count.

I just installed an xGear Fantom (and just replaced my broken screen), I don't see any rainbow effect. I did notice that the protector at the sides sat flat against the screen, but were it curved it bowed out in the center. Looked clear, but definitely was not flush against the glass. I put a thick sock on the screen and some weight over top of it (a thick heavy hard cover book and a medium sized socket set), and that eliminated the bow and put a massive rainbow bubble into the middle of the screen. I lifted the top right corner of the protector slightly and the bubble moved straight out on it's on. It now sits 100% flat. I don't notice any loss of touch sensibility. As far as I can tell, this is going to work well, and last a loooong time.

xGear Fantom is expensive to me and it has bad critics. I'm trying to find another alternative although it is to another model of mobile with the similar screen's sizes 135.5 x 67.94 mm and the holes fit well. The Moto X's screen seem too small.

I think only xGear makes a tempered glass protector for the G'nex. Might be able to use one for another model, but I don't think it would work any better and you would have a higher chance of running into poor fitment.
But I do understand what your saying - some G'nex have a sensitivity bug that the xGear exaggerates (I'm lucky I don't), while some people have had problems with the glue giving out as well as sensitivity issues not related to the bug.
I'd think you could run into those issues with any brand of glass screen protectors, and further might run into other issues with fitment if the protector is for a different phone.
I can't say if I'll have adhesion issues (and so far nope - but only been barely a week or so since installing it), though I think I would have both if I had not noticed and taken care to eliminate the slight bulge out where the glass curved.
Mine did lay flat at the sides along the protectors boarder, and while it was clear for viewing the screen (as in it didn't look like I had air trapped under the protector), it was clearly bulged out (due to an air pocket) a few mm in the center of the screen where it naturally curves when viewed from the side - I was able to correct that with the weight and slight lifting of a corner.
Sadly, you may want to run your naked (no protector) or with a PET film protector.

I think it's not necessary to use any kind of screen protection.
I have my GNex more than 2 years without using screen protector and it doesn't have any scratches

I bought a tempered glass protector ( Moto X) to my Samsung Galaxy Nexus

i found this to be a good review of the BodyGuardz Pure Arc Curved Tempered Glass Screen Protector for the G8 ThinQ
i thought it was a shill channel looking at other reviews, but he seems to hate this. it fits GREAT, but only has adhesives on the sides and has a visible dot matrix.
on top of that, he says there is an unnatural hollow feel to it due to the adhesive not being full screen. i imagine this will negatively affect the oled speaker.
this is a $50 screen protector that AT&T is giving away as a part of a promotion.
skins... not much out there and only dbrand has responded (with a NEVER).
the Invisible Phone Guard screen protector was OK and visibility was good, but i found the sound to be very slightly muffled as if it is dampening a certain high frequency.
i'm keeping the back on until i find a decent skin.
this film seems like it will blemish easily. it certainly gets dirty easily. pics here...

No sooner did I post this than it came in the mail. Fits on easy, stays on snugly. It's matte rubber without feeling like you're holding a car tire. I had one for my Nexus 6P I really liked and this feels equally good.

This thing is indeed incredibly slippery. I think I'm just going to be extra careful about where I put it down (it's not too slippery in my hands I find, just on certain surfaces), I hate hiding the slick design of the phone with a case. This is also the first phone I've had in a very long time where the camera doesn't bulge out the back, which I really appreciate and don't want to diminish with a case.

Well there are a number of skins now at the varies skin sites though I personally skipped them and simply put the phone into an Otterbox Defender case.

I used a cheap curved glass screen protector ( was like $9) and some loca glue (like $10) to make a DIY full adhesive whitestone kit.

I have not had that issue and I am using a Supershieldz screen protector however my brother who is using an Iphone 7 recently had that issue with one due to a screen protector he picked up at Walmart though it resolved once he removed it.

It's amazing to watch this phone slowly creep off of my wireless charger, which has a rubbery grippy surface! My case arrives today...

I'm using slickwraps for the back of my phone and I like it. I would say they are slightly less precise than dbrand, but still great quality. If people would like photos, please let me know.

I'm using a Nillkin slim case, adds no bulk and provides some grippiness.
I also have a Spigen Crystal Clear gel case that's very nice, but is more bulky than the Nillkin.
As for screen protectors, i've found that glass ones are useless for this phone. I tried a couple full adhesive brands with the idea that i would fill the little gap on the edges with LOCA but of the 6 protectors that i applied, they all had a problem sticking fully in some flat areas of the screen. It was always the exact same spots so I came to the conclusion that the LG screen itself isn't 100% flat in those areas so I settled on the Ringke Dual Easy Film screen protector.

You may want to think about giving the Skinomi Full Body Skin a try. It definitely keeps my phone from slipping off of surfaces, giving the phone a bit of a plastic-rubber feel while still letting the beauty of the phone show through. The back protector doesn't interfere with any cases and offers a bit of mental relief for those times you want to carry your phone without a case.

Dude, I had my g8 for 2 days. Was in. The washroom and the phone was on a roll of toilet paper (the flat side, obviously haha) and got a notification. Before I knew it the phone slid off and landed on the bottom right corner, heard an alarming "tink" sound but didn't think anything of it. A few mins later I saw a small crack, then I looked again and realized that there were multiple cracks on the screen. Ended up getting it replaced by my carrier, I said it was damaged in shipping. Point is that this phone is a glass cannon: it's very powerful for specs but it will have a broken screen if you sneeze on it the wrong way. This is one of the massive downsides to the new gorilla glass. Sure it's scratch resistant but with the wrong amount of pressure it will get destroyed :/

I've dropped this thing so many times because it's so slippery. Seems like every other week I hear it jump off a table a few minutes after I leave the room.
I have a crack on 3 corners, but nothing across the screen. My case (which I tend to take off when connecting it to things such as controllers or some USB cables) almost hides the cracks.
However, these are more like small missing chunks of glass on the corners. I've never had such a fragile phone. I tried super glue on the corners to keep it from spreading, but eventually just went to town on the corners with silicone conformal coating that I had sitting around. It seems to be working great and keeps the little shards coated and sort of glued in there. I kind of prefer this to replacing the screen as replacements have only gone down slightly to around $150 shipped from China and I know I'll just end up breaking that one.
There's always been one or two deal breakers with all of my LG phones and that's why I kept going to a different manufacturer as soon as I could. I hate to say it but after this, I'm never going back to LG again no matter what cool unique feature they're wooing me with.

I basically used this phone with a broken screen for 5 months. Replacements are still $150 (better than $200 back when it broke). It dropped approximately 1.5ft face down onto a clay tile floor and front screen has cracks all over. It almost looks somewhat inverted now as if the screen was designed to have tension. Well I went and got a note 10+ and man it is great to have a real phone again. Doesn't have some of the edgy LG stuff that I really loved and theres no headphone jack... but bigger/brighter screen that isn't broken is so nice to have. Good luck with your screens guys.... I'll replace mine when the price is reasonable and either go back to using it or put it on ebay.

I have reached the same conclusion about the screen not being flat enough to utilize a hard glass protector even if you avoid the very curved edge portions. I tried the curved, glued only on the edge types first but that always had a weird optical effect and wasn't very ruggedly glued on, none in the middle. Why? I haven't tried using whitestone glue yet.

Still hoping for a solution. I had great luck with Spigen Crystal screen protector SGP10855 for my LG G3 which is hard but I believe would be flexible enough if it skipped the curved edges but they don't make anything like that?
UPDATE: After watching the LG G8 video on YouTube I decided to go with the Rinke.
I'll report back. This will be 4th type attempted.
I put it on this morning. It is pretty easy to get this on with good alignment and no bubbles.
Two things.
1. If you watch the YouTube instructions the place where the dust dust cleaning sticky backing splits in half does leave a slightly perceptable crease in the soft protector. Maybe it will smooth out with time? It did not with the squeegee.
2. It's soft so you can possibly nick with your fingernails and it's also easy to lift an edge ever so slightly during final finishing so be careful.
I see no installation flaws but it also isn't a hard glass but then those do not install properly even when undersized because the screen is not level as you get near the edges as far as 1/4" away. The film eliminates this issue but will it protect and stay on.
We shall see.

I sell a lot of these devices and it is even hard to photograph them on a smooth surface because they will start around on my table. Put it in a case, the screens are expensive.

PREFACE
When it comes to tempered glass screen protectors (TGSPs) for the LG V30, or for any curved phone in this matter, finding the perfect one can be quite a tricky task, simply because there might not be a perfect one due to the curved nature of the display.
I just want to tell you guys that from my experience, there IS a perfect tempered glass screen protector out there, but before I get into that, HERE ARE THE TWO MAIN COMMON TGSPS THAT YOU SHOULD AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

#1 : DO NOT buy the common "full cover" TGSP that you see on sites like Aliexpress or eBay.

Be aware as while the pictures might look like the glass is curved, it isn't. In fact the edges are as flat as a pancake!
So when you put the protector on, the flat straight edges of the protector will protrude out, making the phone not only uncomfortable to hold, but also makes it very easy for dust to get trapped under the protector, and overall generally looks ugly AF. And that's even not the worst part. The worst part is that this screen protector relies on sticky adhesives that only sticks onto the edges of the device, so you have a big gap of air in between the protector, making the V30's beautiful AMOLED display look like some cheap unlaminated IPS screen. All of these downsides makes this screen protector a big no-no.
#2: DO NOT buy the regular TGSP that doesn't fully cover the display.
Don't get me wrong though, this is miles better than the pseudo-"full cover" TGSP as the entire screen protector is electrostatically adhered to the display, which drastically improves clarity. However while they don't make your display look like crap, it is generally still an eye-sore and you'll eventually want to take it off.

So getting all that out of the way, here's what you should buy:
DO BUY UV GLUE TEMPERED GLASS SCREEN PROTECTORS
After researching a little bit more, I finally stumbled across the perfect TGSP that ACTUALLY has curved glass on its edges! This TGSP is unique as it uses UV glue as the bonding process rather than relying on electrostaticity or a sticky adhesive.
Now putting glue on your screen might sound a bit crazy, but it actually comes off easily and doesn't damage your screen at all as shown in this video:
This is what the UV glue screen protector looks like on my V30:
Here are 3 main reasons why you'd want to consider buying a UV TGSP over a regular TGSP for the V30:
1) It ACTUALLY covers the entire curved screen.
Compared to the more common "full-coverage" TGSP, the glass on this one is curved while the glass on the former is flat like a pancake. And I don't mean curved as in "2.5D", I mean the edges are actually curved downwards to fit onto the V30's concave screen.​2) It is insanely clear and transparent.
Unlike regular TGSPs (and especially w/r/t the non-electroadhesive ones), the UV TGSP offers the most clarity and transparency. Personally I found the colors and saturation to look every bit as vibrant and sharp as the original display, and the blacks still retain their deep AMOLED goodness. I was seriously shocked as to how sheer it looked, as if there was nothing on the screen at all. Now I can finally admire the V30's gorgeous display in confidence!​3) It only costs around $3 if you buy it on eBay or Aliexpress. ​
And now here are the 3 main reasons why you wouldn't want to buy this:
1) Lol I'm just kidding there's only one. Obviously this requires a bit more time and effort to put on than a regular TGSP, emphasis on "a bit". You have the extra step of applying the UV glue onto the display, and curing the glue for about a minute. If that sounds too complicated, then this (and generally any task that requires minimal patience) is probably not for you.​
IMPORTANT SIDE NOTE: They don't tell you this on the listing, but when installing the glass, it is highly recommended to cover the speaker grill (with tape, cotton, sticky tack, etc.) so that the excess glue won't go into the speaker. Also I'd recommend wiping the edges of the screen with a cotton ball dipped with alcohol if there is any excess glue on the edge.

DO BUY TPU ("HYDROGEL") SCREEN PROTECTORS (as an alternative)
Luckily for those that don't want to risk putting glue onto their screen, there is a great alternative to TGSPs. Another obscure type of screen protectors are TPU screen protectors.
These ones are made of a soft rubbery TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) material that is very flexible, and because of the flexibility, these are made to fully cover the curved edges of the V30, providing even better coverage than the UV TGSP. HOWEVER...... one major downside to TPU is that it is nowhere near as strong as glass. The flexible nature of the material also creates new problems, such as air bubbles when installing or peeling. So if you are looking for the absolute best protection, this is probably not the best idea. That goes for all plastic screen protectors in general.

SUMMARY/TL;DR
Avoid the "3D curved full cover" TGSP, they aren't actually curved and makes your beautiful AMOLED screen look like an unlaminated IPS screen.
Avoid regular TGSPs, while they don't make your display look like crap, it is generally still an eye-sore and you'll eventually want to take it off.
Do buy the UV glue TGSPs. This is the real deal as the glass is actually curved on the edges, giving you full screen coverage. It also has the best transparency I've ever seen on a TGSP.
Do buy the "Hydrogel" TPU screen protector. This is a great alternative to the UV glue TGSP. It covers a bit more of the V30's screen, while also providing superb clarity and screen visibility. The downside is that is it more prone to scratches.

One point. There are 3D curved glass protectors that are actually curved. I have one on my phone. The down side is that the glue is only around the edges. The decreases the touch sensitivity slightly. I can't give you the product name as it was shipped with my phone in an unmarked envelope.

Hi,
I would love some more experience reports from other people and also ... I like to pay with paypal and therefore Ebay links would be cool because paypal is rather expensive on aliexpress.
I also wonder how the removal of the glue really works - maybe it is just me but I cannot see a lot on the video that shows this process ...

I would imagine it takes a bit of force to remove it, but it should come off without leaving any marks the screen.

If the glue is only around the edges, that means there is entire gap of air in between the glass and the display right? I wouldn't like that, not because of the touch sensitivity but because it makes your screen look super bad, like an unlaminated display.

It really doesn't look bad. But I still want to replace it with the uv glue type.

My UV glued tempered glass is still going strong after a month. Just remember to pour the liquid into a big blob in the center, and let the screen protector automatically fill in the rest via gravity (don't try to move the protector). Once the glass is completely filled, dry the glue with the UV light for a minute.

Just one question concerning this:
When do you remove the excess uv glue? I would be afraid that it hardens by the uv light in the wrong place
By the way - it is not gravity - it is capilarity ...

When the liquid glue is fully filled. If excess glue forms along the sides, just wipe it down with a tissue.

I didn't cover the holes on mines, but I think it would be a good idea to do so, maybe with small bits of tape.

P.S. don't mean to bump this thread, but I actually find it so interesting that—a week after making this post—I got a job offer at Mobile Outfitters. Now I apply screen protectors as a profession haha

My glas arrived today.
Application is much less scary than I expected. I used some tape around the device to avoid the glue getting somewhere it should not go.
However after the procedure my speaker seems to be covered by glue ... had to clean it with alcohol and am not finished yet. If someone has a better idea to get it clean again - tell me.
Another thing is: take care if the glad overlaps the device on both sides similar. I gave the impression that it is shifted to one side. Not really a problem since my transparent silicon housing covers that anyways
Besides these topics I like it and it is just great to have the complete display usable without a frame ...

Yup I love mines too, I think this is the best T.G. screen protector you could ever get for a curved glass phone. Mines is actually cracked already, but I'm planning to buy another one soon. Also try using a alcohol-dipped cotton swab to clean out the speaker.

Great guide! Just bought one on Aliexpress and there was a $2 off coupon so I got it for $1.99. I'll report back when I get it and get a chance to put it on.

Ok - some more experience with this wonder glas:
in the last days - not even 1 week after applying the glas - I found lots of dirt on the edges of the glas. I carry my phone in my pocket and so there is quite a bit of fluff from my jeans. I tried to remove it carefully with the effect that the glue at the edges under the glas was also removed which did not look very nice. Today I wondered if the glas had moved slightly to the side. I tried to remove my silicon housing and found that it was glued to the glas/phone. Actually I know the problems of UV-glue from my job: they tend to never fully harden and can flow somewhere after month or years (stronger glues can cause severe damage). I had thought that this is not a problem here because everything is open and the device is exposed to the UV light contained in daylight
Trying to move the glas back ended in the glas jumping off the phone. As I had ordered 2 glasses anyways I applied the other one (this time with tape on the speaker). Now I will expose the glue for the rest of the day moving it from corner to corner with the UV light and hope that it is better after doing that. However I am still afraid that the light is just too weak. On the other hand I am afraid that a stronger light might damage something - which is possible ...
BTW: I find it a bit special that when you order 2 glasses you get only 1 UV light - what if the second one is a gift?
Bottom line for me at the moment: I am not sure if I can really recommend this glas. I will write again if something happens. Good chances that everything is OK now if I don't write. Unfortunately the other protector is not available for V30 ATM
