Anyone have force closing issues astro & es file manager with the last few OTAs? Now both apps go straight to force close when I try to start them.. All I got is su, cwm, and the play store.
Sent from my Nexus 7
I'm experiencing this as well after the most recent update and it's killing me. My usage of the Ouya relies pretty heavily on ES File Explorer and after this last update it force closes every time I try to open it. Hoping a solution is found fast.
I got a ouya yesterday and Es file manager just crashed every time I opened it, the cure is to install a version slightly older, worked fine for me install 3.0.5.1 instead of 3.0.5.2
Works!
I can confirm older version works, I got it from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2210417
Ditto on older ES

3.1.5.2 didn't work for me but 3.1.5.1 still does.

I am running Fresh 3, and lately I cannot update anything from the market directly, it puts the apk in the downloads folder, and I just go to astro to install it. Anyone else having issues or suggestions?
Problem with the latest Market update that silently got pushed to our phones. Reboot and retry is all I can tell ya.
I flashed with froyo 4.4 and am lovin it but now my nav does not seem to be workin and also I would like sprint TV back but it will not install from the removed apps folder any advice would be great.
Thanks all
This site is awesome
I don't think that Sprint Nav or Sprint TV work on custom roms.
On the second thought I thought I'd give it a try and tried installing the sprintTV apk and it installed without any problems and is running pretty smooth.
Try to install sprint tv with astro file manager or Es file explorer. For the navi issue try to open the maps app first then go back to your navi. I had the same problem and this somehow worked for me. I hope it works for you.
Hello everyone
I got a Trio Stealth Pro 7 4.0 for christmas as i was a little mad when i noticed it didn't have the google play store installed. so i started doing research and downloading google play store apk's, yet the market would still keep crashing on loading it. well i discoved that it's missing the Vending.apk file. so i found this write up (www .androidauthority. com/kindle-fire-hd-7-inch-install-google-play-store-123353/) on how to install the google play store on a kindle fire, the steps are almost the same, except we already have the googleframework.apk installed on our system and where the vending.apk goes into "/system/apps". othen those minor diffs its neem working like a charm! Also make sure you reboot your tablet after installing the vending.apk, then finish with installing the googplay apk!
forget to mention that my trio was already rooted from the factory. so i didn't have to root it.
Trio 7 is NOT rooted

The Trio 7 is NOT rooted!! If it was, I would be able to install Superuser on it. Why do people keep claiming it's pre-rooted????????
Worked fine!
Followed this process to install vending.apk in \system\app on my new (and really cheap) Trio Stealth 7. Worked like a champ using ES File Explorer!
If this tablet is not rooted then its funny that it lets you enable access to the root folder in ES File Explorer. Maybe its some "alternate" state between rooted and not-rooted, but I'm not complaining!
Some Are, Some Aren't
There are multiple versions of this tablet, all sold under the same name, so both of you may be right..
There are at least 3 sub-models of the A10 tablet and an unknown number of variations of the A13 model. If the vendor has changed the hardware several times over the year(s), it's highly likely that they've changed the OS build as well - and some may be rooted (my A10 wasn't).
Hello,
I would like to install sideload apps on Ouya. I was reading the forum and I see that I can either to install an unofficial (I always do that for my Android phone) or to root Ouya and install Google Play Store. I am not sure what to do.
What do you suggest?
Thanks

Right now, you're better off just rooting the stock ROM. That may change whenever Stockplus gets updated.
I'm seriously considering backing up to stockplus. I don't really care about the ouya launcher or store. I am getting pretty sick of some Play apps immediately force-quitting (not sure if stockplus will fix this, but it's sure worth a try)
otherwise my next step is simply going to be CM10...

You could try go to Settings -> Developer options and check "Don't keep activities".
that worked for me
Rooting the stock FTW. There is even an apk created by an XDA dev that can root the Ouya without a PC. Makes it much easier when they update it and you lose root again
thanks cabrerachaparro - a while ago you or one of the other helpful denizens had mentioned that too. I unchecked that setting some time ago but sadly it doesn't help.
things like google voice or linphone or mx player or latest es file explorer, start and look to be running just fine, but then quit. (and usually the error is related to google framework service). other things like gmail, es task manager, nova launcher, connectbot, terminal, all work fine.
the funny thing is, it's not restricted to applications installed from the play store - e.g. I can install linphone from either f-droid or from the play store, and both f-quit.
I have been too lazy to check things out with catlog (which runs just fine lol)

Oops...then maybe I should stay on StockPlus for a while, as I seldom get any crashes and I get all the Media apps I need (Youtube, Netflix, XBMC).
Guess I need to sit tight if I want a quiet Christmas break
Basically the latest cm11 0506 nightly deleted a bunch of my apps like swiftkey and root explorer and the play store is getting no connectivity so i can't download apps. I also tried using the windows installer for new cm on get.cm and it keeps crashing I'm pretty stuck at the this point with a phone that is barely working could anyone help with suggestions
