[Q] No signal on phone - Desire General

Hello. Maybe can someone help. After i dropped my phone it started to show no signal with sim card. What can cause this problem?
Thanks.

Had exactly the same issue yesterday, I removed the battery, then the sim, put the battery in, booted, removed the battery, put the sim again and it worked.

I think I fried my GSM module(at least "half"of it)

Well heres the story suddenly my phne stopped using 3G,H networks and only works with GPRS or Edge. The phones logs into te 3G network and 2 seconds later it gets kicked out of the network leaving the phone logged out competely and then I can onlly manualy switch it to use 2G networks only to get the signal back. ANyway heres what i tried to fix the issue so far, I tried my sim card in the other phone and it works fine on both 2G and 3G networks, I inserted a sim card from different provider to my phone still no 3G network, I tried two different radios and finally I flashed my old winmo rom and well same issue.
Im prety much clueless atm what could cause the problem...it sems like a hardware issue so do these phones have separate gsm modules for 2G and 3G?
Ok found my answer

Looks like most of first batch of Kaisers suffered with this issue...oh well 3,5 half years of use is not bad anyway....3G is gone and apperently 2G module should follow soon...time to look for another phone.
Not a bad run for a 5 yr old phone. I have 2 of them, one for daily use and one for testing. They're definitely not expensive to buy or fix (11 bucks for a screen/touchscreen assembly off ebay).

Thanks for the tip but it didn't work. Its definitely a hardware issue.Seems like my gsm module is slowly dying on me.
I have had similar issues, sometimes getting kicked off the network, or consistantly the phone would drop calls after about 30 sec or so (consistently i could talk for 30 sec or so and then the phone would drop the call) I also had issues with sometimes not detecting the sim. I disassembled and reassembled the phone and it would start working again. This last time it has been running well after this for a good 6 months or so. I love this phone as for me so far it has been really solid.

There is a device known as re-heater, often available at mobile phone repair centres. Get the TI chip, the smaller Qualcomm chip and the GSM/GPS chip (at the back side of mainboard) reheated. There is something bad with the reflow of solder in the PCB.

weak signal galaxy note 2 t889v

HI,
I have a very weird problem with my phone... and don't know what the cause of this problem is. One day I woke up, and had terrible signal on my phone... it would show 2 bars n Edge on the top. Then have no service at all. So I factory reset my phone and all that good stuff and still have the same problem. When I'm at my other house, I have 4 bars and HSPA+... at work I have no service at all.. When I'm in my car... it goes from no service to full service and so on... I know it's not my sim card cause I tried it on my Buddy's note 2 and it works fine... I haven't done anything to my phone but unlock it so I am able to use my videotron phone with my Fido carrier. Other then that I haven't done anything with it. I have tried every single thing on this forum, except changing the signal antenna... Does anyone have a solution? And I can't bring it to Videotron cause it's unlocked...
PLEASE HELP
Thanks in advance!!!

Hey! Thx but I tried using the my friends sim card on my phone and it works fine... and vise versa... So it's not the carrier or the sim card... Its the actual phone itself... Someone told me to put a custom rom on it... but I kind of like the stock rom that comes with it. I purchased a signal antenna and will try that out when it arrives...

Just an idea, check your network mode through settings/mobile network/networksettings, maybe it has been changed. Or you can try *#2263# in the dial pad and see if it is set right also, I think it should be WCDMA All. Like you said it might be a hardware issue, but no harm done in checking these.
I'm waiting for Tmobile to send me a new phone for my wife.. Same problem.. And it just keeps getting worse.. I have spent hours on the phone with them and nothing helped so they agreed to send me a brand new phone

I have this exact same problem! No service at my house but my wife's note 2 works perfectly sitting right next to mine. Service is all over the place when driving around. Sometimes it will even show bars (service) but it's still searching for the tmobile network. But mostly the service is all over the place or not at all. The wifi calling feature works great and thank God for it, or I would never have service. I have since done a couple things to try to fix it. I have replaced the antenna module in the phone (its the part on the bottom back that has the loud speaker in it), I have rooted and flashed a new rom, as well as flashing several tmobile modems. Nothing so far has made any difference! I am beside myself as I have no warranty and no chance of returning it. Please please please someone help us!

Life saver for me with that dial pad code. Thank you!
Recently switched it to only 4G and when in bad signal areas, phone is useless and couldn't remember that code.
Stored that sucker into contacts, lol!
Appreciate it, going on a trip and need phone for navigation.

Which one did you set it to for it to work for your T-mobile, I have the same problem.
I thought T-Mobile is GSM, not CDMA? I wonder why it worked for you?
Which option did you set in that menu? Thank you.

Does that mean if you switch it to that mode, you can't get LTE?

Do you get LTE service?
I have exactly the same issue. Replaced the USB port board and since then I have terrible signal. I ordered new antenna wire and replaced it, but it did not help. while driving the hpone is balancing between full bars and no bars. At home bu my dest where I used to have 1-2 bars I have no service at all. I restored factory settings but it did not help. I'm sure it is not the service cause this same SIM works fine on another phone. Of course T-MOBILE (I use SOLAVEI but it is based on T-MOBILE network and service) is of course GSM so setting phone to CDMA makes no sense.
There are 3 connector pins on the plastic frame piece which is removable. One must remove that frame to get to the antenna or other pats (i.e ribbon connectors). I 'm not sure what is the role of those connectors or if they have anything to do with antenna or signal strenght/reception. Any ideas ?
IF ANYBODY MANAGED TO FIX THE PROBLEM (especially for Note-2 T_MOBILE phone) PLEASE SHARE IT !

Problem seems to be with the gsm radio you can select gsm only and see if you get any signal if not its the gsm radio but I don't know how to fix it
Try to wash the sim card carrier by jupiter oil . Tried and worked well.

Well haven't tried that yet but when fast charge is on and it finishes charging I have to turn off and on back again to get signal. If the phone is NOT fast charging they once I unplug the phone from the charger then signal comes on. Now this only happens once is fully charge, while charging it does not do it.

[Q] Signal

Okay,
So i have tried a bunch of things. About a month ago my phone started having issues with not being able to register on the att network. It is a t889 model of the note. Well I thought okay maybe my antenna because I read somewhere that the antenna goes out if you have dropped the phone a few times. Phone looks great no damage have a tech 21 case so its never had a cracked screen or anything. But so I replace the loud speaker antenna part and still nothing. No service. It has progressively gotten worse. Tried a different rom becasuse again I read that you need the most recent version because something with provider. Well after trying different roms and different settings nothing. So i did experiments with different sim cards nothing. Even tried an active t-mobile sim card. Okay so long story short I finally looked at the signal strength with the sim card not insterted and it showed connection bars? I was like what? and then I looked at the signal strength and it is like -80 to -100 dBm and 45ish asu. Well when I put the sim back in it jumps to -130 to -113 with 0 asu and ofcourse no bars. and it is able to register on a rare occassion at one time it would register more often and let me send text and have data but wouldn't make phone calls again it has degreaded over time. Now I have nothing can someone please help me figure this out because it is driving me bonkers and is sucking up all of my free time.
Thank you,
please dont just tell me to put it on gsm only tried that
please dont tell me to flash a different rom tried that
please dont tell me to flash another modem tried that multiple times
I have reset the phone back to original settings and used triangle to get rid of any void warranty things.
If I have to take it somewhere i would I just would rather fix it myself wifi works fine everything works fine just cant register due to the signal issue.
PLEASE HELP
P.S.- If I put it in auto connect (LTE/WCDMA/GSM) -100 dBm and 40 asu signal but drops after about 20 secs.
Checked imei it is clean.

Guide: better signal reception // battery life

Hi guys,
Over the internet i have seen screenshots of the battery life in android showing an orange/red/yellow bar under the battery chart.
I have found a solution to get a better battery reception (green bar and better stats looking at the dBM and ASU) and a better battery life.
Having your phone on eject the simcard slot switch the simcard to the second slot and enter your SIM pincode. Than switch it back to the first simcard slot, that's it.
I believe it also works when you just eject the simcard an put it back, but I am not sure about that...
Beware, after every reboot of your phone, you will have to do this again. That's why I think it is a software bug.
Let me know if it also works for you!
Greetings Peter
Or you just move to a better carrier
Sent from my XT1686 using Tapatalk
Hmm... Mine only has one SIM slot, and I don't have signal issues.
This works for me!
