Well AT&T has activated LTE in the Orlando area and it sure is fast. I have noticed that when I browse or use LTE data my Nitro has been getting quite warm. Any one else in LTE areas having problems with overheating?
only time it gets hot for me is when it's using GPS, LTE, and charging at the same time.
dtla here and no lte........yet.........it's coming any day/week/month year now.

my phone gets hot while playing games.Lte still not available in my country
u can get higher than 1mb per second on 4g without lte on, i only turn mine on if i'm watching high res youtube videos, which i rarely do over data, usually only on wifi.
by the way it's normal for the phone to run a little warmer with lte on, but it shouldn't be a massive increase unless you have your brightness really high and are also running video, this is actually caused by the combination of lte, and the screen (2 highest power consumption hardware units on the phone i believe) it causes warmth from both the radio, the and even more from the battery, which can get over 40C, if it gets hot enough youll see a warning on your screen on most stock roms and i think most custom roms too not 100% sure though, i left my phone in the car in the sun with the windows up once on mistake and when i pulled the battery out (there was a battery temperature warning on my screen) it was so hot it would have burned me if i didn't drop it immediately.
luckily i tested it against 3 other batteries and it didn't get any perm damage, it actually had the longest life out of the three, because the other two were brand new and not broken in, however if it stays at a high temperature for long, it can permanently damage the battery, or even cause it to basically not work/explode.
there are two people with this issue it could be a defect with newer nitros?

Hot issue is the common problem in LTE or smart phone.
I know this has been mentioned a hundred times over i just wanted to share my experience:
I'm lucky enough to have 2 galaxy nexus in the house. My wife got one from costco and 2 weeks later I got mine from amazon. I got to play with her phone for a couple of weeks and was excited about mine. Her phone had decent 4g coverage. Her phone had very few data connection drops in those 2 weeks, so when I got my phone I was expecting something on par with her phone. My phone data connection sucks compared to hers. My phone will lose connection several time s a day. The worse is at night when my phone will lose connection and won't reconnect and the battery will quickly drain...while sitting next to my wife's phone which has no problems.
I was just thinking there must hardware issues?? Her phone works quite well while my mine has a crappy connection.
We are both are on stock. Hers is not rooted, mine is. I just updated my radio today and it seems to have improved my signal. I never saw 2 bars before, but now I've seen it a couple of times. I never see two bars on my wife's phone but she hardly ever loses connection (I check her phone frequently everyday)
fyi...
I'm having amazon send me a replacement...
Do you have the same carrier?
Are you using any apps that run in the background? You seem to be a tweaker (having rooted and everything), so I'm wondering if you haven't overtweaked the device with apps. Any 'battery' management or data connection apps?
I had a similar issue. Wife's GN was fine overnight while my own,;sitting a few feet away in the same room, showed a complete loss off signal from 1am on, causing the battery to drain completely.
The VZ rep told me the phone was probably defective, so I returned that phone, got another one with a bad screen and am now on my third unit.
This third phone seems OK, but even it was showing a bizarre loss of mobile data. I say bizarre because the status screen would show a reasonable RSSI of -83 and eHRPD:13 for the network but it would sometimes take as much as 10 minutes to actually connect.
I was using Juice Defender when I was having issues with this third phone. On a hunch, I removed that app and haven't seen the problem since. I'll probably throw JD back on sometime this week to see if the problem reoccurs.

I've had this phone for a little over three days now. Overall, I absolutely love it. The only smartphones I've ever owned were the Evo lines, so this was a big leap for me, and I'm not sorry. However, there are a few issues with it.
First is a strange antenna issue. I have the Sprint version of the Optimus G, updated and rooted. When the network mode is set to LTE/CDMA, the 3G antenna will only turn on very rarely, leaving me entirely without internet access. I was about to return in when I realized that the issue is solved when I change it to CDMA only. We don't have LTE in my area, so I don't mind leaving my LTE antenna off. I'm not sure if it's an issue with my phone alone, or if it's a software issue that others have.
Then there's the screen. The screen itself is BEAUTIFUL, and I have no issues with it. But the screen scratches like crazy! I am extremely careful with my phones, and this one in particular. I kinda bought it on impulse, so I didn't have time to order a screen protector for it (one should be in tomorrow though). So I have been treating it with extra, almost paranoid caution. It's only ever been in my pocket while at work (nice khakis, so nothing harsh), and otherwise it's been undisturbed on a table. I check my pocket for any abrasive lint often since there's no screen protector on it. But the screen has developed about a dozen or so scratches, and one of them deep enough to distort the screen when it's on. I don't know how this is happening (the deep one happened in the space of five minutes, inbetween two texts, and was merely put into and removed from my pocket.)
Also, the battery life is kinda crappy. I live near a tower, so always have full signal. At work I'm on wifi, so that's not an issue. The battery scarcely lasts through work, with VERY light usage, and is nearly dead by the time I get home. Today, from the time I woke up with it at 100% to the time I got to work (about 2 hours, with constant near-full signal), the phone dropped from 100% to 76%.
Are these normal issues, or am I the only one experiencing them? I want to love this phone so much, but these seem like serious flaws to me.
I too had to change to CDMA so dont know what is wrong with that. And the scratches is weird ive dropped mine a few times and dropped my keys on the screen and nothing. And my battery is phenomenal. Seems like you have a dud.

In regards to the screen....this may sound like a stupid question and I don't mean to offend, but did you remove the temp screen protector that it comes with? I've not had one issue with my screen being scratched and I can't say I've been all that good to it for the last week.
I've had the phone for a full week now and I have not experienced 3G drops with LTE/CDMA mode enabled. Also haven't scratched it either (thankfully). I constantly put it in and out of my jean pocket throughout the day, so I don't really understand how yours got to be that way.
As far as battery life, I too don't see the issues you're having. Typically I pull it off the charger at around 7AM and can easily get 12 hrs+ with normal usage. Even with Android OS taking up the bulk of my battery (seems to be awake a lot). Lot's of people saying its a battery drain bug, etc. etc. etc...but if I'm getting 12 hrs easily, and 24 hrs with light usage, I don't have a problem with that.
-Screen brightness at 60%
-Wifi on all the time (connected at home and at work - probably helps, lol)
-2 Gmail accounts pushed constantly, Facebook messenger, and a few other apps that auto-update on schedule (news readers n stuff)
-My commutes to and from work - I listen/watch podcasts and/or read. Which means the screen is on the entire time (approx a 1hr commute). All said, my screen-on time sits at around 3 hrs for me.
I'll post some screenshots in a minute...

No scratches or weird battery issues here. My first two days the battery life was horrid. Afterwards I did some update and poof like magic.
Anyone have any info on the boot loader unlock initiative? I miss aosp
got this phone for sprint yesterday after having a BB for 5 years .. and i'm loving the beautiful screen,.
Only hiccups is maybe the battery... Yesteday i had it full on 100% then after 2 hours went down to 80%..
I'm currently in the office charging the phone to 100% will remove it and do normal routine on it and see how long it last.

Haha, I actually checked for this before posting. It is absolutely something I'd do.
After reading these and other comments about the phone, I realized I probably had a dud. I went to the Sprint store a couple days ago and swapped it out for a new one, and it's running beautifully, with none of these issues. So I guess I just got a faulty one. Thanks all for responding!

Good to hear! Sorry, I had to ask...my girlfriend had the same problem with her phone she got a couple months ago and it was because the temporary screen protector was still on the phone!
Anyone finding it gets kinda hot? I've read some owners complaining about this and it was mentioned in some review somewhere. Wondering how widespread it might be. Might be that people keep all 4 cores running 24/7. I don't see the point if you're web surfing, talking, texting. I keep it on Eco Mode most the time.
I've only notice it get warm once or twice, but even then it was barely noticeable. But I've had eco mode on since I got the phone, and it's not hesitated or stuttered once.

We are thinking of switching to Sprint, so we went to Best Buy and picked up one of these phones and I'm very impressed with it so far.
Actually this is the second one because the first one had a factory defect in the chrome around the screen. It get home with the 2nd one and notice there is a speck of dust under the glass.
I'm going to return this one in a day or two and see if the third one is a charm. If not, I'm not getting a forth one!
Any suggestions on a different phone for Sprint if this one doesn't work out? To me the only other phone to get would be the Note 2 and then the GS3.
A little help here guys. I was planning to return mine because of battery problem. Like i tried playing Dead Trigger, current battery is 54%, 30 brightness, sync and data is off. I played for good 5 minutes and it dropped to 48%. One more test is after it got 100% full charged, i unplugged it, Wifi is on still 30% and not using it for a couple of minutes it dropped to 97% and im not even using it!
So i want to return it.
The question is:
Do i have to pay for replacement? I got mine at BestBuy for 99$ almost a month ago.
2nd is will still they accept it now it got scratch on four sides. Any suggestion?

As long as it hasn't been over 30 days and the phone doesn't look "abused" then you should be fine, also if it's been under 30 days i would add geeksquad protection especially if you plan on rooting, i thought it was a bad investment at first, then when talking to a tech after my evo4g bricked he just said to "make sure the device doesn't power on" and they will replace it needless to say i took a ballpeen hammer too it and got a shiny new one 2 days later.
I took the LG back and got the GS3. I've already had to clear the cache on the galaxy because of excessive battery drain.
If the GS3 fails me, I'm gonna try the Note 2.

Yep, on eco mode the battery is outstanding. The phones is faster than my wifes S3 on eco mode, and I get nearly 2 days without charging. I had the note II for a week and that is just as good but was too big for me. This phone impresses me everyday.

Device is a F460s (a.k.a the LG G3 Cat.6 / LTE-A version with the Snapdragon 805) currently running Mokee ROM. Was running RR 5.7.0 by JZ_shminer until today.
So basically, here's the summary of the problem. When I'm downloading very large apps / games (1GB+) over WiFi from the Play Store (N.O.V.A 3 for example), the first 30 seconds or so of the download goes as expected with speeds that are close to nearly maxing out my 100mbps connection. Unfortunately, after the initial 30 seconds of 10MB/s glory, (the time that it takes for the download speed to "throttle" actually varies quite a bit, usually the first runs last for around 30-40 seconds at 10MB/s while immediately starting the download after cancelling a download that was already being "throttled" only lasts for around 10 seconds before being "throttled" again) the speed suddenly drops to around 500KB/s for no apparent reason and stays there for the rest of the download. At first, I was pretty sure that it would be an easy fix related to some network setting I messed around with accidentally, so it was rather concerning when I saw a network settings reset didn't do anything. After resetting the network settings multiple times in hopes that it would eventually fix itself, I carried out a few basic tests to try to pinpoint the problem. Here were the tests that I did : Multiple speedtests of my connection using both the Speedtest.net Ookla app and the traditional website through chrome to confirm that the issue is only present in the Play Store (Although I will say that the speeds were rather unstable using the app, too bad they were still more than 10x of what I was getting after being "throttled" in the Play store), downloading the same app using several different phones (they were all pegged at 10MB/s, all of them), doing the same thing with AdGuard disabled (made 0 difference, thought maybe the local VPN did something), repeating all of above while using a VPN, doing a full wipe, and even installing a new ROM when that didn't work. Something that I did find intriguing though, is that using a VPN while downloading (Not turning off AdGuard, just using a third-party VPN app), got me rather surprising results. While my initial "starting" speed (basically the first 30 seconds) with a VPN was around 1/3 of what the non-VPN run would get in the first few seconds, it could sustain that 3-4MB/s for the rest of the download. All 1.3GBs of it. Would this indicate that this "download speed being throttled in the Play Store under specific circumstances" thing is a software-side issue? But if that was the case, why would installing a new ROM make absolutely no difference? Haven't tried stock MM yet though, planning to do it tomorrow to see if that makes any difference.
Also, a few things to note that could potentially help determine whether it's a hardware or a software problem : Yesterday, I finally got around to applying the dbrand skin that I bought for this phone a few weeks ago, and in the process, used a hair dryer to heat up the camera / volume and power button area for around 30 seconds to ensure a more optimal fit. Could this have damaged something inside the phone that has an impact on sustained download speeds? Personally, it seems rather unlikely, considering that it was done with the battery removed and dbrand recommends a heat gun to do the same thing.
There's also this more-likely scenario : When I woke up this morning, I immediately grabbed my phone next to me to check the time, only to find out that it was bootlooping. To be specific, it was the kind of bootloop that you encountered when you had a faulty battery, or at least I'm assuming it is because I had the exact same thing happen because of a faulty battery. The phone was also SUPER hot when I initially picked it up and no button combination seemed to able to get it out of the bootloop, so I had to peel off my poor literally-just-applied-the-day-before dbrand skin in order to remove the battery and cool it down. After a few minutes of leaving the phone to cool down by itself, I inserted the battery back in and to my surprise, everything seemed to be in working order. There were no signs of any sort (until now that is) that indicated anything was wrong with the phone, so naturally, I assumed it was fine and chalked it up to my very stupid and dangerous habit of "leaving the phone in bed while fast-charging with a third party Quick Charger" which led to the phone overheating to the point of forced shutdown and reboot, only to fail to do so repeatedly...? I don't know if that even made any sense, as one would assume that a phone reaching highly dangerous temps would shut itself off and STAY off in order to actually prevent any damage being done to the components. I don't know much about this stuff though.
tl;dr : Phone is getting painfully slow download speeds all of a sudden and it's not my connection, 99% sure. Not sure if hardware or software problem. Leaning more towards hardware atm. Although I'm not sure how that would be possible. It would be great if you read through the whole thing, as there is quite a bit of info, but really any help would be greatly appreciated.
So out of nowhere my phone rebooted 3 times in the span of five minutes. The phone was getting super hot so I removed the battery and let it cool off a bit. Well things aren't looking up now:
- Cannot connect to wifi and bluetooth ( I don't have a sim card, I had money problems by the time I finished paying the phone over a year ago, been using an app for phone calls and messages since)
- Phone remain warm-hot even if not in use
-Battery seems to deplete faster
-The time is not keeping up. So far 28 minutes of difference with current time.
I have the phone for over three years and seems like it's the end of the road for it. Does anyone knows whether it's just a battery issue or the phone is just on the verge of death?
Never mind I fix the issue by watching this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CAiu3jzKExk
