[BOOT + DOWNANIMATION] Android Revolution HD animations - One (M7) Themes and Apps

These are boot and down animations themed for Android Revolution HD. These are the first animations I've created, so they're a bit rough, but I think they came out okay. Both are tested running on my One with ARHD 12.1 and ElementalX 3.4.
These animations represent 20+ hours of work with Photoshop and general tinkering around to get them working, so a Thanks would be appreciated if you like them.
Boot animation
Note: These are running about twice as fast as the actual animation.

How to Install
These are not flashable in recovery.
You need a file explorer with root access. I use ES File Explorer, which is free and easy to use. Make sure that /system is mounted r/w.
Navigate to /system/customize/resource and look for zip files with "animation" or "boot" in the name. Those are your animations. They should be bootanimation.zip and downanimation.zip in ARHD.
Rename each file by adding .bak to the filename. This will preserve your originals.
Copy the new animations to this folder and rename with the correct filenames per the third step.
Change permissions on each file to rw-r-r. In ES File Explorer, you do this by selecting the file, then More>Properties and tapping Change in the permissions line. This will bring up a dialog. Uncheck the Execute column and Group and Other in the Write column. Then click OK and Cancel in the previous window (this won't cancel what you just did).
Thanks

Mike1986 for making a great rom.

Good work :good:

Working a treat. Like the animation!! Thanks for that!!

these are fantastic and will make my ARHD One even better. Thanks!!!

I have a revised version in the works that I will post after I get back from vacation. Right now, I've decided it's moving a bit fast for my taste.

Can't wait..
Sent from my HTC One

Haven't been able to get the revised version to work right, but I'm going to give it another try this weekend. Something in the desc file is not working.

Very nice, definitely will be using this - I'll let you know how it works on ARHD 13.2 w/ ElementX kernal
EDIT
Worked great and I agree with you on the moving too fast. I think it could spend more time on the ARHD point before going to the quietly modded. Compared to some other boot animations, yours is on the small side(I have one that the bootup alone is almost 10mb lol)
I did notice some jittering as the ARHD is coming up, like it skipped a frame or two.
Is there anyway to make one out of your ElementX splash screens. I like the quietly overclocked spash.

I've done all I can to fix the jitttering. Understand that this animation consists of over 100 individual cells, each of which I created by hand in Photoshop. I had to create the cells in the opening sequence twice, once with the text moving up a few pixels at a time, and once with it moving down, then merge the two. Unfortunately, in the process of merging, some of the cells got slightly out of alignment. It used to be worse.
I'm still trying to find an optimal speed for the whole thing that works smoothly.
I've thought about doing an ElementalX animation next. I just need to decide what to do with it.

@iElvis any chance you could pm me a guide on how to make a boot up and down animation thanks.

I made a flashable zip of the boot animation so it can be flashed in recovery. It does include the HTC boot sound so if you don't want the boot sound, you need to remove it from the zip. The zip is called MyMods.zip:
https://db.tt/5D5EYui5
P.S. The boot animation in this zip is renamed for the 4.3 Sense 5.5 rom so won't work with older roms unless you rename the boot animation files and re-zip them.

All you need is in those two links. You have to come up with the images yourself, but that will explain how to make the animation.

I have a VZW One Max -- are there any Animations for it ?
It seems to use a different file(s) name from the usual
/system/customize/resource/bootanimation.zip?
It uses vzw._bootup.zip & hTC_bootup_one.zip.
Would I replace either one with a copy
bootanimation.zip for it? :

nice thanks sir

hi, i have a Chinese version of one dual sim (802w)
can i use these animations?
and also which part of boot does it change?
when i turn on my phone, it says something in Chinese, will it remove that?

[BOOTANIMATION] DOS BIOS for G2 [UPDATED 02/28/11]

I didn't make the original work. I just modified the information so that it tailored the specs of the G2.
Code:
adb devices (optional, only to see if adb sees your phone)
adb remount
adb push bootanimation.zip /data/local
(if this doesn't work, try pushing to /system/media also)
Now to test if it worked type:
Code:
adb shell bootanimation
<press ctrl+c to quit>
Info on BIOS is for G2.

Okay...WE NOW HAVE SOUND!!
First off, thanks to mrdaviso for script and instructions from spiicytuna.
My apologies to amazinglarry311, credit goes to him/her for the enablesound script.
enablebootsound scripts can be found here:
Enable Sound Boot
Here's how I did it:
Flash zip file from recovery.
reboot
Place android_audio.mp3 on sdcard root (change name of android_audio.zip to android_audio.mp3)
adb shell(I am assuming you are root)
enablebootsound(mine wasn't already enabled)
newbootsound
You can also use this script to install bootanimation now. ( I still prefer the old way)
place bootanimation.zip on sdcard root
newbootanim
A "Thanks" will do.
Nice! I'll def. give this boot animation a shot! Thanks for sharing.
I like it but... on part1, youre missing several images causing a blank bootup at the end of the bios animation. you might wanna add some more in part1 to remedy that.

Do I have to divide the number of images in each folder evenly?

looks great! I've been looking for something to snazzy to replace the generic g2 logo and have been too lazy to look into how to make my own
very nice
I installed it and the first bootup it froze on me at the android logo screen part. Second time it started hanging a little bit after where it froze before... then it went black screened and eventually showed my home screen. Weird...
Edit: tried it once more and it's frozen :/
I am such a nerd this totally made my day! Freaking sweet boot animation. I don't think I will ever change it. My G2 is running so fresh now. Good work yo

That's not really booting though, that's a trick where it doesn't shut down, it just suspends and switches off. A proper boot takes a lot longer.
Can someone post screenshots of this?

I think he was refering to hot reboot that the desire z does standard which isnt true rebooting. Its possible to perform one on the G2 via script or an app called Hot Reboot. While the phone is hot rebooting... it will skip parts when booting. So there is no real concern when adding a custom boot animation.

if you want to make it smoother, just read this . but i have modified the desc.txt and for me it looks smoother than the preview below
perherps it is necessary to rename in sanim.zip or bootanimation.zip
1. look in your folder /system/media for sanim.zip or bootanimation.zip
2. note permissions
3. replace with new zip and set noted permissions
4. be happy.

Slow FPS/animation on Resurrection Remix 2.5.3
Thanks for this.. I really prefer the Samsung Stock Boot animation and i'm glad somebody took the time to put this together.
However, the animation doesn't seem to be smooth enough on my S2.. it frames quite a bit/kinda laggy! I tried changing the FPS in desc.txt to higher than 30.. tried 40 & even 60 and even tried reducing to 24 but doesnt seem to take effect.. i did nor see any noticeable difference in the framerate/smoothness. I did also ensure i was replacing the right file in /system/media.
Any suggestions?
Im running Resurrection Remix 2.5.3 (FLUXI kernel.. if that helps).

Improvement of bootanimation !
Hello,
many many thanks texten !
Since I switched to CM 9 I was annoyed not to have the stock SGS2 animation (which is an .qmg file)
With your boot animation I had the same issue of lagging. I think it's because the zip is 9 MB (too heavy).
So I extracted your zip and I convert every image from .png to .jpg (quality 85), now the zip is 2.5 MB and the boot animation is more fluid !!
Here is the new zip (sorry I can't post links for the moment ) :
Code:
www.multiupload.nl/IH867M2SV1
Hope this will be useful for somebody !
@texten
Feel free to relink this zip in your first post !

Unfortunately, I believe there is no such possibility.
NP. Currently I set the Core animation. Sick and slick.
On a side note, there any possibility that these boot animations could cause random reboots? It doesn't seem logical, but it started happening right after I set them. I put about 6 of them in the /system/media folder with only one set to be the boot animation - could this be the problem?

I have tested all of these boot animations on my i9001 and did not encounter any problem. I haven't tried putting several .zips in /system/media though, I store them all on sdcard. But I assume there is possibility of strange behavior after putting unknown files on system partition. You could try to move unused boot animations to sdcard too and see if your phone stops acting weird.
Did just that - moved all other animations to SD card. Will report in a few days if the problem is related.
EDIT: Yep, it seems the random reboots were related to having more of these bootanimaton zips in the /system/media folder. After moving them the reboots completely stopped.

I'll take a look at that link, thanks.
I use GIMP to edit dimensions of image and convert each frame of .gif into standalone .png or .jpg, then I edit desc.txt to adjust framerate and compress all files into .zip archive. Nothing special.

Ohh... I will work on that, photoshop is being a bugger at the moment though, any image I edit in that doesn't work.
Personally, I think the white one looks ugly. Then again, I suppose your phone has an LCD screen so even with the black one you're going to have unnecessary backlight on it, but because my phone has an AMOLED screen I don't get that unnecessary backlight, which makes it look a lot better.

naming file?
So I read the big red line on the 1st page about renaming the files to hTC_bootup_one.zip and hTC_downanimation.zip but now in my system/customize/resource folder I have both the original files and the newly DL'd files. I cannot for the life of me delete the originals( it says cannot remove zip). I even tried to rename the new files to bootup.zip and downannimation.zip but either one tells me to rename differently. I was hoping that it would ask me to replace the original. No. If I long press the file and go into properties if says read and write abilities are allowed but as stated before, it won't let me. I even tried to delete the newly DL'd files and that won't let me. I then tried opening file explorer and deleted the 2 new files but low and behold it still in es file explorer.
So I was thinking maybe I should attack it by re DL'ing the new files and name them bootup.zip and downanimation.zip thinking it would allow me to replace the originals. No, that didn't workI just tried cut and paste to a newly created folder in my SD card thinking it would totally remove the originals and I would be left with just the new DL'd animations. Nope, it left a copy in the resource folder.
So now I have many files in my resource folder. I would like to clean it out and start over.
Is there anything else I could try?
NOTE: it was the rom that was holding it back. viper 3.7.4 has in the tweaks under advanced a setting for custom animations( both bootup and down). I'm assuming that this is why both file explorer and ES couldn't change it. Just a heads up for anyone else using this rom.

[Mod] Boot Animation / Shutdown Animation - Oneplus Animated Logo

This is something that I found after an hour or so of googling for cool boot animations. I cant seem to find it again, and I dont think the thread had a preview video or gif, so I extracted all the images from the zip and made a quick video. Attached are two zips that you can just place in "system/media" with root explorer or an equivalent (Of course I would make a backup of the two zips that are there in case you want to revert to stock). Technically its the same zip just renamed, but it works really well for both startup and shutdown .
Also this may be a stock boot animation for one of the Oneplus devices, but I have no idea since this is my first time going Onplus lol. Anyway, hope someone besides me finds this useful :]

I love it. Simple. Clean and effect. Better than those super jazzy, "hey Mom, look! My first boot animation!" Stuff.
Looking good! I would like to use it but I have an "access denied" message when I add the files in "system/media" while I'm rooted with Magisk. I tried with Root Browser and Fx Browser with root permissions.
No problems here using Solid Explorer

Did you remount /system/ as RW? it is RO by default so you would be denied access unless you did.
Watchdogs is a far better boot animation
Could you please upload a preview for the shutdown one too?

It's the same as the boot animation, but it only plays like 3 or 4 seconds of it, but it works really well.

Anyway, hope someone besides me finds this useful :]

it just goes into the same place as the boot animation. You should see both of those files /system/media

My 6T does not have a shutdownanimation.zip by default. Placing your file in system/media results in nothing. Is it only for the TMobile variant?

That's something I hadn't considered. Yeah I have the tmobile variant, but try putting it there anyway and see what happens. It shouldn't hurt anything.

Nothing happens when you put the shutdown animation zip in system/media. The phone shuts down as usual with the "shutting down" prompt

Can confirm. Nothing happened with shut down zip. I'm in tmo variant flashed to international version.

Interesting! Alright thanks to both of you for trying, I'll update the OP.
Will this removed the t-mo animations?
It works. I like this animation better than the current stock one.
Thank u OP, looks great, better than stock imo.
This is exactly what I was looking for! I have T-Mobile variant and I really just rooted to get rid of that awful pink garbage when I booted my phone. Fantastic find!
