OK, suddenly, I have lost all notification sounds. And yes, I have tried and made sure everything is turned up.
Normal daily use is I turn down notifications to 1 notch above vibrate only while at work, so I still know something comes in, but does not bother co-workers. Then turn it up full blast when I leave. Today was no different. I got messages with notification noises this morning, turned it down at work like normal, and didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. Left work, turned it up and nothing. When I am changing the volume with the rocker, I can hear the level it should be at, but when I get calls, emails, texts, no noise, just vibrate and that is only on Google Voice. Checked all the settings, they are all turned up. When I change ringers for things, I can hear the change. When a notification comes in, looking at all the settings, I should be getting sound. I do still get the blinking LED to let me know things have come in.
Please tell me I am stupid and somehow did missed some easy checkbox or something..

Morning,
Is anyone else finding their Notification LED for text messages (Possibly E-Mail's too) is flashing for 2-3 Minutes then stopping? Missed several texts now because of this and its annoying me that I have to keep unlocking my phone to check for texts.
Is there an option I have missed? Do I have a dodgy Phone? or is that just the way it is?
KYI
I think mine does this too, that's why I was asking for a Wake on Notification app. Can we change LED from green or orange via software?

'Missed call' for the Market lets you (IIRC) change LED colour Whether is is fully operational on Desire, I'm not sure. Don't think you need root access either.
It's only flashes for about 2-3 mins then goes off - if you've not noticed by then I assume it thinks it'll save power...
makes sense to me to be honest. for example if u miss a text on the iphone, it will only chime once more. i wouldnt want mine staying on.
I Suppose I just miss it for the G1 days. My Phone is on silent all day at work and the continious LED was a bonus for notifications. Surely an single LED doesn't draw that much power? Might have to give Missed call a try again.
nah the desire seems to use different code to light up the notification LED so none of the LED apps on the market work anymore. like LEDtester, the LED just flashes green and cant be changed. and handcent, it just flashes green and cant be changed.

have it on vibrate instead - or just check the screen every now and then...
I did post about this earlier but got zero replies so I wondered if it was only me.
Mine blinks for I think it's exactly 5mins. That's it. And I don't think it has anything to do with saving battery since that one blinkiing LED (mostly blinking when then screen is off) does not take much power at all.
I've emailed HTC to see what they say.
Although not ideal, handcent does allow you to set notification reminders.
I have mine set to re-vibrate 15 mins after receiving a text if I haven't checked it. You can change all the options, so have it chime, vibrate, wake scree, flash LED, all of above, one of above etc. at different intervals and a number of times - I find once vibrating only to be a sufficient reminder if it's in my pocket, however if on a desk would probably have the screen re-awaken.
Might help.

The notifications and vibration modes on this phone are driving me crazy, they make absolutely no sense!
I'd like to be able to:
1. Switch from sound to vibrate only to notification lights only modes. It seems this phone only has two modes however, sound and vibrate (the default) or if you disable vibrate sound and (true) silence. My old Samsung moment had this.. seems like a basic feature, anyone figured this out yet?
2. Turn off the vibrate for fully charged notification... What is the point in having this stupid notification for in the first place? If I leave my phone on at night next to the bed the damn thing vibrates like crazy an hour or so later and wakes me up!
Also, the notification light seems like it's almost useless! It doesn't seem like it flashes in any understandable way.. it it flashes at all. And when it does flash it does so so slowly you can't notice it unless you'd staring at the phone for a long time. I want to be able to configure on a per app basis something like:
1. Rapid flashing read for missed call or VM
2. Rapid flashing blue for SMS/MMS
3. repeating two "burst" red flashes for an email
4. repeating two "blust" blue for a calendar reminder
5. solid red for charging unless there is another notification
6. solid blue for fully charged unless there is another notifcation
I've played witht e LED light app people have mentioned on this forum and it's does 10% of this... it's junk. I want something better.
It would also be super nice if we could have per user notification options. So for example if person A called/sent an SMS it would generate a notification but if it came from person B no. Third party apps?
So I've searched everywhere and I haven't seen anything for this issue. Even though all the settings are correct and i have vibrate checked in the messages app, my phone won't vibrate for notifications like text messages all the time. Sometimes it will vibrate and sometimes it won't. So my phone will be in my pocket and I'll check it 30 minutes later and see 3 or 4 texts but it never vibrated. I exchanged my phone and am having the same issues. Everything is stock. Has anyone had this problem?
the phone vibrates, it just does it too softly for you to feel it... that's the problem with light phones, the original epic 4g could cause an earthquake but that's because it was gigantic, I never felt the epic 4g touch, and this one I feel it at times...

no it definitely doesn't vibrate. I've set it on the table and texted it and it'll vibrate on every 10th text or so. usually it'll just light up for the notification but it won't vibrate.

menu/settings/sound...........make sure sound and vibration are checked. that is the default for the entire phone even if vibration is enabled in messaging. also make sure your vibration intensity is all the way up.

Yes that's already been checked and vibration intensity is all the way up. The phone does vibrate on some texts, but not most, which is what the problem is.
I've noticed it'll vibrate normally when the screen is on and I get a text, but it won't when the screen is off?
I've definitely seen bugs in phones in which things like notification LEDs didn't work when the phone was in sleep mode. Whaddya know, I recall one of them being a Samsung (Intrepid). Granted it was years ago and Windows Mobile 6.5, but whoever was coding notification and power management back then wasn't fully aware of the point of "notifications".
Then again I just sent myself a test to the Note 2 while the screen was off... phone vibrated, screen turned on briefly (I hate that), blue light started blinking, heard my notification sound, and screen turned back off.
So there's something interfering with your phone's ability to wake up while it is trying to notify you. Have you done any power management modifications or installed anything designed to save battery power?

I haven't changed any power management settings or downloaded any apps designed to save power. I've tried factory resets several times. The phone will vibrate for texts but after about 30 minutes or so goes back to not vibrating. I've called samsung and taken it to the sprint store and no one can figure it out. I first thought the motions was causing te problems but it still doesn't vibrate when those are off. I'm completely out of ideas.
EDIT: I may have figured it out, if I turn on "Wake up in lock screen" in the settings in S Voice, the phone stops vibrating on texts. When I turn it off, the phone vibrates again. Toggled it on and off and the changes were immediate. Does anyone else have this problem??
It seems like ever since Oreo (currently running Pie) my notifications have been really screwed up and I'm at a loss as to how to fix it. I need help lol.
1) With screen off, a lot of times I won't get any notifications until I wave my hand over the proximity sensor.
2) Sometimes my LED doesn't turn on. Like, I'll grab my phone and there'll be a notification on the lock screen, but the LED doesn't alert me to it. Other apps don't flash the LED at all even though it's turned on in settings.
3) I never get voicemail notifications. At all. And I can see missed phone calls if I open the phone app, but there's otherwise no indication of missed calls. Wtf!
I've tinkered with all of the notification settings to no avail. I also noticed the number of options that can affect notifications seems a complicated mess. I'm a bit disappointed at what the Android notifications have become.
Can anyone offer any help with this?
I tend to have my phone on silent a lot but the notifications still light up the screen such as text messages etc but I have noticed a few times that when I get calls on silent (Haven't tested on other profiles) the screen only lights up when the call has been missed but it literally lights up the screen and has no notification to say I have missed a call, I only see that once I unlock the phone and swipe down on the notifications bar... I haven't changed any notification settings and it only seems to happen with calls.
Has anyone else had a similar issue?
