How to root Galaxy Ace II i8160 - Galaxy Ace II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, i just bought a Samsung Galaxy Ace II and updated via Kies to JellyBean 4.1.2 provided by Samsung.
Now i would like to know how to root it so i could take out some apps that cant be used on my zone/country and are there just annoying me, and work some other magicall utilityes that i need/use.
Please consider that i don't know much about android, i have rooted a Lenovo S2110a following a guide found in this forum, but i only followed the instructions robotically and because everythign was there available and easy to access for.
I've been searching up and down but i found nothing working, some threads point to non existent files, some don't say where to find those files or mention something that i dont even know.
I found also a thread closed due warez infringement.
So please, can anyone point me in the direction of some working root guide the simpler/easier possible?
Thanks in advance.

how to root and 4.0.4 OTA update

Hi,
I just got the phone and have looked thru the forums and I have yet to find a definitive thread on how to root a ATT Samsung S3. Can someone point me in the right direction as the root hits I find all say my phone needs to be a I9300 and mine is a I747.
Also does anyone know what was fixed in the OTA updated that came out 4.0.4? Will this affect me being able to root the phone?
Thanks in advance...Todd

HEY!
Ok so im not completely sure which update 4.0.4 is but I think there has only been one so far right? the one that nerfs google search. Anyway, Here is a link to the guide that i used (after I did the update) and i followed the steps and the comment posted by danK in the comments. He said "If you’ve updated to newer software update, the stock OS will over-write ClockworkMod Recovery on reboot. To fix this, make sure “auto-reboot” is checked off in ODIN, then take the battery out when it’s done flashing in ODIN. Then enter ClockworkMod Recovery right away. " Doing this let me root my phone with zero issues.
androidauthority[.com]/galaxy-s3-sgh-i747-att-clockworkmod-recovery-99791
(sorry it said i could not post links yet but this is the URL but without brackets)
Thanks for the link, that is only how to flash clockworks mods, how do you root the phone? Can anyone share that info?

hey there
I can help you out. I am new as well but I was at least able to Root my phone.
What you want to do is find the Rogers Root file as well as download Odin.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1739426
go there and download..
Rogers Image
Perm Mirror 1: Rogers I747MVLALH1 Download
Perm Mirror 2: Thanks to zaghy2zy!: Rogers I747MVLALH1 Download
Also download...
Second,
Extract the stock_root67.tar from the .7z file you downloaded.
Use Odin, put phone into download mode [with phone off, hold vol. down + home + power ], connect to computer and open Odin.
once in odin click the PDA field and select the stock_root67.tar you downloaded.
Leave Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time checked.
click start and
when done let phone reboot.
If you have issues flashing with Odin please ensure you are using the microusb cable that came with the phone, users have had issues using other cables.
The word odin sends you a direct link
Follow those steps and your phone is rooted.
cheers,
click thanks!

Second method worked just fine for me, did you enable Usb-debug mode in the developer settings ?
(The developer settings are hid by default, you can bring them up by tapping the "Build Number" Dialog in the "About device" Section of the system settings)
Rooting with VROOT
Hey there, i've just got the Ace 3 too.
I downloaded a chinese software called VROOT and rooted my phone.
Later on install SuperSU which then updates into its binaries and asked me if i want to uninstall the chinese root app.
And in case anyone tries the CWM method and the phone stucks at 'rebooting recovery' .... just reinstall from KIES update or download the files from http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=GT-S7275R and flash with odin ..
Give it a try, hope it helps !
Rooting with CWM is possible
A new unofficial CWM recovery is build.
Thus rooting with CWM is possible too.
Good luck!

[SOLVED] Need to root Blu Dash 3.5 D161a (Android 4.2.2)

So I'm finding a number of projects on hold as I need to root my phone to proceed.
I've found threads about rooting the Blu Dash 3.5 but they all refer to the D170 which is an older phone (dual sim version of the D160) but nothing mentioning the D161 or D171 varieties.
My phone is running Jelly Bean 4.2.2
I keep reading that I'll need a restore image for my phone but can't find one and it seems to extract my own I first need to have rooted the phone which seems to create a bit of a catch 22.
I could root using an image for the D170 but I suspect I'd been opening up a whole can of worms an weeks of pain.
Does anyone have a D161a rooted and able to tell me how or send me a image?
I've got ADB running and seeing my device. I can boot into fastboot mode.

Sigmakey software works with and requires a special hardware device and is used to do carrier unlock on phones. That's not what I need.

It took quite a while but was a painless one-click solution.
Now I am rooted I'll see if I can upload the stock system and recovery images somewhere (suggestions welcome).

Samsung Galaxy Tab3 7.0 (2013 version) is super slow, even after factory reset :(

Hello all!
I am in dire need of assistance and unsure of what to do next
The tablet I have is a Samsung Galaxy Tab3 7.0<stands for 7 inches? Model number is: SM-T210 and the Android version is 4.2.2. I believe this is the 2013 version tablet.
Short Version: :
I need some help and understanding of what order to do these things.
I read that installing a custom ROM helps with the performance a lot
Do I install the custom ROM first? Or do I need a custom recovery ( TWRP being the popular on)
Also, does my device need to be rooted?
A little confused at the order, what I do/do not need, and where to download all this from
Any more enlightnemt about what I should do next will be really helpful.
Otherwise I will just have to purchase a tablet :? (will installing a custom rom, rooting etc actually make my painfully slow tab3 faster? Or shall I just buy a new tablet?)
Long Version
Just some background info this current tablet:
The other day I 'foraged and found' the Samsug Galaxy Tab3 that my father was given for free with the purchase of his Samsung phone back in 2013. The tablet was hardly used, no files (photos or documents), some apps on there, basic use from him at work. I have used it for a few days and it is quite slow/performance etc. This is after the factory reset, but not sure if I will keep it as its still a bit sluggish and driving me nuts!. I have performed the standard and basic 'how to make your tablet faster', by turning animations to 0.5, downloading a differnt launcher, moving apps to microSD card etc but it doesnt help a lot.
So I was going to purchase another cheap(ish) tablet, but some wandering research has allowed me to stumble upon info about 'installing custom ROM's, flashing, backing up using TWRP custom recovery'.
Now I am no noob when it comes to tech. as 'I am a 90's kid who grew up with it' . But I am also no expert, however I come with open arms when learning about new techie methods/techniques.
And this installing custom ROM's sounds interesting, especially as my tablet is not really usable everyday, so I dont have anything to lose by tweaking it!
So I thought, lets start by watching a video 'How to Install A Custom ROM On Any Android Device (2018)'> But then it mentions that I need a custom recovery, TWRP being the popular one> But then that video tutorial says that I need my device to be rooted! So thats 3 different video tutorials that I need to follow. But I read that it does not need to be rooted, then I read that you dont need a PC for custom ROM's but some videos use it..oh God! As you can probably tell, this is really confusing for someone approaching this new area of 'rooting/custom rom'.
I would really like some help/advice about where I should start, what tutorials to use (I do like videos), what to download, what devices I need, softwares etc!
Hopefully the information I have provided helps
Thank you!
This is not the right forum for your tablet. You have a Galaxy Tab 3, this forum is for the Galaxy Tab S3.
You should head over to the Galaxy Tab 3 forum.

No one is able to help?
Might just have to buy a new tablet.
Was hoping I could experiment/test with this tablet I currently have
I m not familiar with your device, but steps are always the same: 1. Flash recovery with Odin (TWRP for example) 2. Copy Rom and Gapps to your device's SD 3. Boot to recovery 4. Follow ROM installation instructions. Happy Flashing, don't forget to enable USB debugging. Cheers A

Hey!
So I do not need to root my tablet? Many people say you have to? Maybe its best I do that?
Also, many different tutorials show different orders of installing and using different methods?
And, can I just do everything on my tablet or do I have to use my PC?
Do I need to install any apps or just to to certain websites on the tablet and install things?
Any specific links and order of doing them would help a bunch!
P.S What do you mean by "copy Gaps"? Do you mean apps?

Like I said I am not familiar with your device so I can't give you such a specific advice. You have to find out by yourself. Read threads, completely. Follow things being discussed already and find solutions for problems that's been already solved. This is what I do
