Yesterday I rooted my KF using KFU 0.9.5 which makes it easy (thanks!) BUT....
1. No Google Play/Android Market at all
2. No superuser app
3. Facebook FC's
4. Youtube won't play any videos
My whole reason for rooting was to get the Google Play / Android Market working and obtain some apps not avail through Amazon.
Not quite sure where to go from here, I have found some 'solutions' to the Market issue but don't fully understand them.
Yes, I have TWRP recovery and can get adb connection is working (verified with KFU).
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Have you tried side loading the superuser.apk file? If that works, use KFU to install Google Play

I will have to give this a shot, thanks.
I'm getting FC's on some apps, haven't seen anyone address this. Facebook FC's, and I noticed my GT racing game does too.
Thoughts?
I'm sorry for starting a new thread, but I've tried several things on this board and nothing seems to work.
I rooted my fire a while back with Kindle Fire Utility with no problems. I had google marketplace and then installed twrp, so I'm not a total noob.
However, after rooting my friend's kindle, the marketplace doesn't show up, and nothing I do after scouring the internet seems to let me install it.
Do you recommend that I install twrp, and wipe the whole kindle clean and retry or what?
What might be the reason that I installed everything easily on mine, but not his? Will wiping the kindle clean fix this issue?
Watch Nat3mil do it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rTkegVrnAvA or the kindle fire utility 0.9.3 has it under extras selection 2 google apps/go launcher
That's just it. I installed the extras and it added all of the apps but the store. That didn't happen to me before, and is what is so strange. I'm watching Nate's video.
The KFU has been know for not being able to installed Google play store, so here are the intructions I used.
Pre requisites:
Your device must be rooted.
Note: Lots of ROMS out there have Google play store and apps already installed. There is even a rom called MoDaCo that uses the kindle fires stock UI but comes with market installed. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1439916
1. Download Google play http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1583888 and Googleservicesframework. Apk
http://www.2shared.com/file/XvA0M1uz/GoogleServicesFramework.html
2. Move the Google play store to system/apps
3. Install Googleservicesframework apk like a normal application.
4. Reboot your device

I downloaded the google play apk file from google than transferred to my kindle and installed. I did the same with google chrome and it works.
The biggest problem was getting adb files working on my computer with windows 7. I finally after many tries got it working and was able to root the kindle.
All I have done is run the root programs. The one I used last was QEM
It's not the perfect answer but I would recommend you give kindle first aide a chance. I successfully rooted and installed the complete google apps with this program. Check the kindle 7 inch forum for the program.

Tried first aid with no luck. I saw on other sites that the original charger cable does not work in all situations. I ordered a new one and will try it and see if it works. Thanks for your help

Google play won't get installed just like that.... You need to install other services too... The easiest way to install is to root your device and install kindlefree... Ironically it's there in Google play and also as an attachment in the apps official thread at xda... Search for it and you'll find it.

Google Play requires the Google Service Framework to run properly. Chrome is an app, Google Play is an ecosystem.
thanks to all who helped me. I have rooted my kindle and have google play working. thnks, thnks, thnks.
I have never rooted or otherwise hacked anything before and have no experience with android devices, though I am fairly tech savvy.
I used bin4ry to root my kindle fire 8.9, so now I'm trying to install bootloader and TWRP (though I'm still somewhat unclear as to what these things actually do) to fully access/customize my kindle device. I'd like to be able to install custom launchers, the various marketplaces, a web browser capable of streaming video, etc.
So anyway, I read through the post detailing how to install bootloader 2.0 and twrp (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2128175) but I have no idea how to start. Are these things necessary for installing custom launchers/UIs? The instructions post a lot of code to enter, as well as a "fastboot" mode, which have me bewildered. I downloaded the sdk tools that were linked, but I have no idea what to do next. I've spent hours trying to read and glean the information I need to proceed but I only uncover layers of more technical jargon that I don't immediately understand.
Could someone put me on the right track? I'd like a bit of help so that I don't absent-mindedly brick the hell out of my device. I'd also like to know what kind of cool stuff I can do with a kindle 8.9.
I'm trying to:
-install bootloader 2.0 + twrp (though Im not sure what they do exactly)
-install custom launchers, UI's.
-get rid of the default amazon ads, framework.
-be able to watch streaming video online.
The bootloader 2.0 + twrp are needed if you plan To replace the Kindle OS with a different OS like the one from hashcode.
You can install the Play Store in a rooted kindle vor activate sideloading and install the apks of the launchers directly.
Sideloading can be activated under settings. Its something like allow untrusted sources.
The adds can be disabled with kfhd xsettings , its an APP (Google it)
Many video streaming sites use flash. Google for "archived flash player apk".
For starters, I apologize if any of this sounds like I don't know what I'm talking about because frankly, I don't know what I'm talking about.
Recently (this Christmas) my mother got me a Kindle Fire HD 8.9". I decided to follow a guide from a youtube user and put a second bootloader (twrp) and CM 10.1 on my Fire, only to find that half of the apps didn't work. I couldn't watch youtube videos or netflix, or even read books through the kindle app.
This made me angry because here I am freaking out trying to get my Kindle back to factory defaults so I can enjoy it again.
I've looked at countless guides on how to do this, but none were clear and all of them required big downloads that I'm not even sure would work.
Basically, I wiped the CM android os with TWRP, and I'm at the TWRP screen.
I downloaded the 8.4.6 amazon kindle update from the Amazon website and adb pushed it onto my sdcard. This didn't work; the Amazon update file I downloaded was a .bin, so I converted it to a .zip which apparently made my Kindle unable to open it and update.
I am able to get my Kindle into fastboot mode, but I have no clue where to go after this. Can someone please help? I just want my Kindle back the way it was.
Thanks
Use kindle fire first aid to restore it, though I have no idea what you are talking about with cm 10.1, sounds like you downloaded the wrong gapps because the stuff you mentioned works fine on cm 10.1 for me, you could also try cm 11 since it's newer.

You can't push an Amazon OS onto TWRP to flash it. It don't work like that.
