Is it true that our AT&T Note 2s will work in Europe when I travel there?
I just got back from Munich. It worked fine, at least with a prepay sim from O2. I didn't try at&t service at all

I thought this was in the "AT&T Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting". If I missed something please let me know what.
An unlocked smartphone can run on any gsm network. At least a 1,000 people every week take their unlocked phones to Europe and buy sim cards there.
Your next question might be 'how do I unkock my phone?'
It is unlocked. I thought they used different bands.

Just buy a pay as you go sim card from the country you are going to and use as normal. I just got back from two weeks in London and had no problems what so ever.
I was also under the impression that the HSPA and LTE bands for our Note 2 is different from what they use in Europe. That's why they sell the "international" versions (7100 & 7105) there. That won't matter much if you don't get a data plan though as you could always use 2G and 3G (?) to make calls. Please correct me if I'm wrong as I'm interested in this topic as well.

All countries in Europe use the same bands as at&t USA. Some countries also have tmobile frequencies.
The international note will only get 3G speeds but your note will get 4G when it is available.
I would like that to be true, but in reading the wikipedia summary of the Note 2 bands used, that's not what I'm seeing under "Table of Variants". There are 2 international Note 2 models: one with Lte (ie 4G) but on different bands than ours.
Intl-7105: Lte bands 3, 7, 8, 20.
Att-317: Lte bands 2, 17, + AWS (which I think uses part of band 1)
Sorry in advance if I am wrong about this - that's just the way I read the wikipedia article. If you know this to be wrong I'd appreciate an explanation. Unfortunately it's also easy to get mixed up since the European roms refer to the various cell radios differently than stock att does - as those who have flashed 7105 base roms well know, ie 4G = H+ Lte = 4G (Att = Eur)

I am planning to buy a Galaxy Nexus. But how can I be sure that the one I am buying does work on 1700MHz? I heard that not ALL Galaxy Nexus are pentaband (European? Australian?), I am not sure is it true or not.
Anyway, Is there any way I can check when I purchase one? I am really concerned about that since I am planning to use in Tmobile USA
Any help will be appreciated!!
Thanks guys!

I do appreciate the help. But nobody is answering my question. And they ALL are different questions.
I just want to know is there any way I can check whether the newly purchased galaxy nexus will work on 1700MHz or not.
Please stop generalizing my question.
Thank you very much
Just because people aren't answering your question fast enough for you, doesn't mean you can make more threads to get your answer fast enough.
AND you do realise that more than one question can be asked in 1 thread, plus you can edit your first post and title to be a new question.
Also, are you in america? Where are you right now and what service will you be using?

Thanks! Thats reassuring. I too want to use it on Tmobile, mostly for their 3/4G networks. The phone I am using now does not receive 1700MHz. And GN seems to be the only samsung international phone works on 1700MHz. So I give it a shot.
I just want to make sure the international version of GN works on 1700MHz. I tried dialing the service codes like *#*#0011#*#* to check, but it only displays the band I am currently using, not the bands that the phone supports.

I'm thinking about purchasing a note 2 from att from a friend. I understand the phones unlocked already from factory. Just needs to be rooted.
Now I know Clean rom is an international rom and when you flash it asks what carrier like Verizon etc. If I got a att phone and used Clean rom and flashed it for Verizon on att is this how it would work for me?
Anyone with experience know?
Sent from my SCH-I605 using xda app-developers app
The general rule of thumb is no.
Verizon is cdma but maybe this will help.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2068041
Cdma phones generally canot be used on gsm networks.
Some truly "world" phones have sim cards but again the bandsare different . I remember being on the d2g forums and there was a way to send I your d2g to one of the devs and they hacked it to work.
But more than likely you will never get the full benefit of the lhone thats made specifically for the carrier.
Read the link .
Imo these kind of things are fruitless and a waste of time.
But hey go for it.
Fully? No. It won't work at ALL. incompatible technologies, and Verizon will only activate Verizon phones on their network.

Absolutely and my bad about my previous post, i missread what you wrote.
Sorry if there was any confusion from it. You can flash phones from verizon to other carriers like cricket who share the same type of bw, and possibly hack them to other networks but as entropism said , what you were asking is not possible. Even if you could, the later of entropism's post is what kills it.
Always hated that about big red.
And I stand by what I said.
Imo complete waste of time.

Actually if you flash the new T-Mobile premium suite 4.1.2 directly on att i747
Everything works new style 4g icon
Same everything and Wifi calling works
The phones are so close in relation that its all compatible
Hspa+is displayed as 4g
Read about it the package was just released recently

To flash you need to root it correct? and when i put in a t mobile sim card from a co worker i got 4gs speed ? so maybe the tmobile is just saying that to try and sell a phone

I think more than that, you have to enable the ATT LTE bands on the radio itself... that is a change made in the radio itself that doesn't change if you flash ROMs or whatever... ATT and T-Mobile use different frequency bands, so this may be all that you need to change... If you search here, I know I came across a thread about enabling those ATT bands... I don't have a T-Mobile Note2, so I didn't bookmark it... but I know it's on here...
Good luck,
Don

You can NOT cross flash modems. With ANY Device!!!. You'll end up with a lot of PROBLEMS.:banghead: Or even a brick!!
What you need to do is the AWS bands unlock feature!
Check here for what you need. Hope that helped you with your PROBLEMS!

Any galaxy s phone can use modem.bin or mdm.bin from any other galaxy s phone. As long as they are not sprint or verizon.
When did this change?

Well I haven't done anything like that. Don't think TMO GN2 modem will work well on a AT&T GN2... you'll end up with boot loops!!
Try it and let me know you out come.

Hello, all.
I recently decided that I must move from T Mobile to ATT because of unresolvable signal issues with the Note 3 at work. The phone was paid for in full at T-Mobile, and I was told that all I needed to do to move to ATT was to follow an unlocking procedure, which I did at the ATT store. At the ATT store I also moved my Nexus 5 over to ATT without a hitch, but the Note 3 has no LTE or data for that matter. Voice and text work fine. This had the ATT employee stumped.
Is there a technical reason for this and if so, how do I fix it? Many thanks.
You need to add the APN for AT&T data. I'm running a T-Mobile version on AT&T as well.

I really didn't want to give up T-Mobile because I was getting amazing 40/10Mbps LTE. It doesn't matter to me what I get at home, since my home connection is 100/5. Now I'm on AT&T I am getting about 6/1 but at least I can use my phone at work without worrying about reliability.

Yes you can! The newer galaxy models like the note 3 and synchronized what bands they utilize for communication.
