[Q] How to come back from custom ROM to official - Galaxy Ace II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone.
I've been using The Italian Job ROM (Custom) for a long time, but I decided to come back to official ROM. I've used ODIN and set "I8160XXMF1_I8160OXXMF1_HOME.tar.md5" as PDA part and installed it. After restart applications and other stuff from previous custom ROM were still in my phone... What I need to do step by step to come from CUSTOM ROM to OFFICIAL? Thank you!!
EDIT: I did factory reset and it seems ok now. Is that enough?

You can get your stock AT&T firmware at sammy's FIrmware http://www.sammobile.com you will have to create an account to download then use Odin to flash it.
Wow! So fast reply!
Thank you very much!
Can I install it with ClockworkMod, or it is possible only with Odin?

I had put the stock ICS on my Glide and decided to flash back to 2.3.6 (from samfirmware) using Odin. After Odin loads the ROM to the phone, and the phone reboots, it sits at the screen that says SAMSUNG. I let the phone sit for about an hour before I pulled the battery and reinstalled the stock ICS back onto the phone. Any ideas why I am unable to flash from ICS to 2.3.6?
There is no 2.3.6 ROM, the version on samfirmware and everywhere else stock is 2.3.5 there is no flashable 2.3.6, anyway I suggest you download the ROM again, and try to flash.
As an alternate, flash CWM, then use a custom GB rom, boot the phone and then flash stock GB, but I'd recommend the ODIN method first.
I Have downloaded the 2.3.5 from and tried flashing several times. I will try a custom rom method. Thank you

If I were you, I would go to a custom firmware. That is if you have a custom recovery like ClockWorkmod or TWRP. But you can flash stock, at least to my understanding. But I'd look into that.
(Your bootloader will need to be unlocked too)
I am on Clockworkmod v6.0.3.1 the thing is i don't want a custom firmware 2 many problems
I would like to load stock buy have read most of them get their phones bricked

If you were on the 4.3 official stock ROM that was pushed out, you have a possibility of bricking your device downgrading to lets say the 4.1.2 stock ROM.
A custom ROM isn't bad though. If you do like Touchwiz based ROMs you may be able to find one in the development section.

What information are you wanting to backup?
You'll have to find your ROM of choice. If you want a reliable ROM then I'd recommend something that is stable, which should always be said in the thread,

Contacts could be backed up if you sync with your gmail account. SMS can be done by an application on the market. Notes that are synced on Evernote or Keep should just be there.

[N7100] Phone Boot Loop. Please help.

I have an International Note 2 (N7100) . I was on stock rooted till December 13. After that I flashed Dr.ketans V6 ROM and since then evything was working fine.
For the past few weeks my phone often restarted and one fine day it automatically went into boot loop. So I backed up my data and factory reset it. But every next day it goes back to bootloop. So I changed ROMS. I have tried 2-3 ROMs since then but eventually this problem always comes back. My phone always bootloops and I have to reset it just to switch it on.
Currently I am on Philz recovery and Phoenix ROM (MD5 bootloader). Please help or suggest.
Just flash stock ROM through ODIN.
Smack that Thanks button if I helped!
KitKat came in on my OmniROM, running on my Note 2.
Sent from a small country called Singapore.
P.S. Time for school, not much time for XDA

Thanks for the reply. But I want to use a Custom Rom. So you mean I should flash a stock ROM and then Custom ROM or just stick to stock.?
Please clarify.
Edit - Another question. Can flash 4.1 ROM directly or a 4.3 ROM only. I am on Phoenix ROM(MJ5) Philz Recovery

Thanks for the reply. I can go into recovery and then factory reset it. My issue is i get these bootloops very frequently.
For a few days my phone works normally and then it occurs. I have to then reset and then start again. I am actually troubled by this. So I need guidance and help in this matter. Just getting to know if it is a ROM/bootloader/recovery issue or a hardware issue.

Most probably ROM issue. Switch ROM or (recommended) flash a stock ROM, use it for a few days, and (if there's no issues), switch to whatever u want to use.

Ok. Thanks for the help. Ill look into it.:good:
Dr. Ketan Custom ROM v6 is based on Android 4.3 firmware. If you didn't follow his guidelines properly then you're expected to have:
Boot loop
Wifi problem
There are two methods available, wifi patch & upgrade to MJ5 bootloader. Search this forum to find his guidelines. This should solve your problem.

Upgrade firmware only to cof8?

Hello all,
I was wondering if I can upgrade the radio and bootloader to COF8 without running a 5.1.1 ROM. I am rooted with Ktoonz kernel with firmware AOC9 with 5.0.2 stock ROM.
TIA.
Bob
Once you upgrade bootloader , you can only run 5.1.1. Not sure about ONLY upgrading radio.
Thank You for the reply..
So once I ODIN the new firmware, I need to load a 5.1.1 rom before letting the phone boot up to the 5.0.2 rom?

You cannot boot a 5.0.2 ROM once you are on 5.1.1 firmware. That's the way it is as far as I know. There is no downgrade possible once you are on 5.1.1
Personally, I have no issues with 5.1.1. Great ROMs now. Great battery life. I personally do NOT care about Knox or the ability to run Samsung Pay. Just my 2c.
Thank You.
SO.. Once I start the firmware upgrade.. I must immediately load a 5.1.1 rom.
1. Upgrade the baseband... dont re-boot.
2. Upgrade the Bootloader... dont re-boot.
3. Install a 5.1.1 rom... reboot. Thinking of the ROM below.
4 joy??

I won't tell you what ROM to choose. Yes, coincidentally I am using the Xtrestolite rom with the alliance frameworks, but I have a lot of other favorites both on TMobile as well as the International galaxy S6 or S6 Edge roms. The key is the kernel which gives you root. The International ROMs as well as the Tmobile ROMs all work with the latest Unikernel version 6. Once in a while if you run into the no call audio issues, simply flash the latest no call audio fixes. I don't have links right now but most of the OPs on these ROMs will list the no call audio patch files basically to have Tmobile as well as Canadian variants work universally. So yes, simply use Odin to install the latest OF8 bootloader and modem, which I am on. Then flash any 5.1.1 ROM of choice followed by the version 6 Unikernel and boot up. Boots can take up to 10 minutes so do't be concerned you may be bootlooping.

Odin should say pass if a successful flash. Plus use the three button method....Power, home, volume up to boot to recovery and see TWRP. Best way to do the TWRP verification is to use three button, Pwr, home, volume down and hold to get to the first bootloader screen, then when you cancel out using volume down immediately hold the powr, home, volume up to get to the twrp screen. Make sure you have a 5.1.1 ROM of choice on your Phone along with the unikernal and before you upgrade, so that you have something to flash
If you are unsure about any of this, there are a slew of FAQ's on this stuff. So make sure you fully understand what you are doing and having the files in place PRIOR to doing anything. Like all the OPs state here, I'm not responsible for anyone bricking their phone or doing anything that makes their situation a now aht do I do to fix xyz issues. As long as you have the latest Odin mentioned in various OPs here, are comfortable with the process of using ODIN, testing their setup to make sure that your phone and cable and opertaing system have proper drivers to see your phone when in download mode etc, this should not be a big deal. That said, I don't know the level of your expertise in doing this so all I can do is warn you to check and double check you have everything in place before proceeding.

Post #8 details install guide for Tmobile users. This whole thread is a great guide for installing firmware and a 5.1.1 ROM. I'm not making a ROM recommendation since that's a personal issue, but this is a good starting choice so you should look at this thread and possible use this as a good guide for how to do stuff, including having this ROM on board you phone as a starting point. Just offering you everything I can think of before you jump in.
Thank You So much. Im gunna go for it.
