[Hard-Bricked Phone] + no detection by odin ;((( HELP - Galaxy Ace II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So, again me being a dumb teenager i bricked my phone. AGAIN!!! :crying: :crying: :crying: So yeah can anyone help me i really dont want to ask my parents to return the phone for the cost of my warranty (and i have a flash counter of 2 so if noone helps me i am screwed) >_<
More info: I had Italian job on my jelly bean 4.1.2, my recovery isn't working, and my phone is not detected by odin ( i dunno why ), It all happened in me flashing a kernel trough terminal and my phone had the phone's model screen of death ;(((((
Please HELP !!!

Take out the battery, connect the phone to pc using usb cable, put the battery back. If pc detects phone as u8500 you have hard brick. If that is the case then jtag with riff or medusa box is only solution.

Don't worry about flash counter thats no problem because if hardbricked that you can't go in download mode or recovery or see start logo then they have to change mainboard and all data and falsh counter are away had it two times with flash counter and no problems

Stop spreading this theory about changing main boards. Please, explain why would anybody change main board when it is cheaper just to jtag phone, if it is hard bricked? Seems lots of people here dont know the difference between hard and soft brick also.

it doesn't even show up on my computer. ;((((

is your battery charged???

Have you tried taking out battery like i suggested? It is very unlikely that phone cant be detected that way. It is more likely that your battery is empty. Put it to charge a bit and than try again.

I send my phone in and they changed the mainboard so i though that's normal
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app

My battery was charged when i connected it, otherwise it wouldn't even power on .... :/

If battery was all the time in phone after the brick, it would drain out in few days. If screen is turned off that doesn't mean everything is off. But it seems like a hard brick, so jtag or "changing the mainbord" seems like only solution.

Do you still have warrenty?

I also have the same problem
but,
i just press both + and - volume button with usb plugged on your phone
after 1 minute, i replace the battery and remove the usb cable without removing the volume button until the your phone turn on
sorry for my bad english

Killed or bricked my Phone

Was using Odin , got stuck forever. The phone won't do anything now, won't reboot normally won't boot into recovery , won't boot into download mode. Totally non reponsive , nothing ever on screen , no charging icon . Battery out then back in , plugged into usb then put in battery.. tried it all.
looking for suggestions, phone is going back to t-mobile if I cant fix this
Try entering download mode again and reflash your phone. Download the tar again in case the previous was corrupt.
Pull out the battery and put it back in. hold vol up and down at the same time and then connect the USB cable. This will get you back into download mode.
Good luck!
Also, I believe this is in the wrong forum. I'm not a mod but I believe it belongs in the general section.

It's a common misconception (I did it myself) that the power button is also used in the sequence to enter download mode, this isn't the case. Just hold down vol up & down and connect the usb cable, do not press the power button.
Just trying to rule everything out
If this doesn't work for you then I'm out of ideas. Are you still able to get into recovery? If you are, try flashing a ROM and see what happens.
Just to clarify, what does your phone do when you turn it on? Does it boot loop or get stuck somewhere?
EDIT:NVM reread original post (selfn00b'd myself). Totally unresponsive? I believe you should still be able to get into d/l mode since I think they set that up as failsafe. If you can't then it probably will have to go back. Bummer
I'v herd that it somtimes helps to take the battery out and let it sit for 30 min
But thankfully I can not confirm!
May also want to try different computer and cable

You did not read the OP , The phone died after using Odin(which DL mode is required) , obviously the phone is easy to get into DL mode. The phone is stone dead and won't power into anything
its funny when people suggest you try something to power on your phone even after youve just told them you have tried it all. kind of annoying actually.
but same thing happen to me man. i finally gave up and sent it to samsung today, that would probably be your best option. either that or tmobile

Thats what I ended up doing , they are sending out a new phone. It is disturbing that you can actually KILL your phone using Odin. I have flashed a ton of phones a million times and never ended up with a door stop.
Im surprised the GS2 is brickable. I came from a Vibrant (Galaxy S) and that phone was impossible to brick. I was always able to bring it back to download mode but sometimes i had to try different combinations of things to get it into DL mode like remove sim or battery etc. What I'm saying is your phone can be fussy.

I bricked mine flashing a boot.img to the wrong partition in recovery. This phone is very brickable. T-Mobile gave me a new one but the first thing they asked me was if I rooted it. I said what's that mean

My brother, myself, and my fiancee all got s2's. Day of, I odin'd recovery to both mine and my brother's and rooted with no problem. tried it on my fiance's, dead in the water. did the same exact thing to all 3, didn't change any procedures. If you keep trying to turn it on, sometimes the led flashlight from the camera will flash for a second, other times it actually turns on and continues to work as normal but once you turn it off again, it may not turn on again. i got it to turn on again and actually odin'd back to stock recovery. problem was NOT fixed even after this, and after i turned it off again, it turned on again once, but never again after that. filed for warranty exchange. i used to think as long as you can odin back to stock you're fine, but it clearly wasn't the case. looks like we just got unlucky. if you bought the phone from a corporate tmobile store, bring your receipt and trade it in at the store because they give you a new phone. if you do a warranty exchange, they send you a refurbished phone (although the s2 is new enough that they might send you a new one anyway if you're lucky).

[Q] bricked? and won't power up (while trying to unroot)

I may have bricked my phone, and now won't power up at all. Here's what happened.
Last night I tried to unroot my phone in order to install EL30. First I powered phone into download mode. Then used Odin to install EC05, but Odin seemed to be taking forever, as the instructions said it would take 7-8 minutes... It appeared to be working but very slowly. So after half an hour, I decided to let it work overnight and went to bed, leaving the Odin screen running on computer and the phone with yellow "Downloading" on screen.
This morning, the Odin screen had several more lines of successful completed steps, but did not say "Finished" yet. The phone screen was off. I thought maybe the battery had died because perhaps in download mode maybe the battery wasn't charging? So I unplugged it from USB cord, put in a fully charged battery, and now to my problem...
Phone won't power up or do ANYTHING. I know of 3 methods to power up phone, (pwr button, #1 + pwr, volume up + camera + pwr) and none of them are doing anything. screen never changes from black. I've removed battery, tried powering up while plugged into usb/computer, with & without sd card, etc. It's like the phone is just broke!
HELP?!
Hold down the little pin next to the camera. Also wait for awhile and eventually itll go into download mode. Make sure you keep the battery out when trying to go into download mode.

Also, did you have repartition checked? Only auto reboot should be selected unless your coming from mtd.

DUDE THERES NO BUTTON [email protected]!?!$#%^?
To the OP:
Did you try leaving the battery out and having plugged into the back of the desktop *if of course its a desktop* and tried to go into download mode using the pc as its power source? Is it a nonstock cable that you used?. Its more than likely because you didn't have a non-stock cable or yours was bad and need a new one. Odin shouldn't take but 5 minutes top..... mine does it around 3:30 minutes..if it seems like its hangs then redo it pull the plug and start over. Usually factoryfs.rfs takes the longest around 2minutes.

First get a better cable, that's why the data wouldn't transfer. 2nd take out the battery and sd card, with Odin up on the computer connect the New USB cable and quickly put it into download mode and Odin away. At this point include the PIT and check repartition. You will need to put the battery back in after it succeeds and tries to boot. For mor tips sea+ch the Development forum for "How to recover a semi-bricked epic" there is a whole thread on it.

No luck on any of the suggestions above. Phone will not power up at all.
I removed battery and SD card, and plugged into usb cable with Odin open on computer and tried powering up phone into Download Mode (#1 + pwr), nothing (also tried holding #1 + pwr for a couple minutes patiently).
I have had a nightmare trying to find a usb cable and usb port on my computer that work together. No this is not the stock Samsung cable. I am using a cable that has worked for me in the past, but often times a cable/port that works one day won't work the next. So you are probably right in that my original issue getting Odin to download to phone last night may have been a cable problem, however my current problem is simply that the phone seems to be nothing more than a paper weight right now. Just won't power up at all.
And no, I didn't have repartition checked. Phone only had been rooted and CMW, no MTD.
Thank you all for your help, and eagerly awaiting additional suggestions?
Umm yeah man bad idea leaving it alone looks like its time to visit the morgue.... search online to see if someone will restore a solid brick its possible especialy if you cannt use a jig to get into download mode

I'm no pro a bringin epics back from the dead but in his condition I believe the phone is completely dead. I've done this to my phone on several different occasions just to get my phone replaced lol. My good friend works for a sprint repair center and he said that most times pulling the usb during odin will kill the device. I'm not tring to be pessamistic as I really hope you fix it but from what your saying then its VERY VERY unlikely! Especially if you hit repartition and then pulled the cord... if you don't belive me then try it and let me know how it goes lol

Probably 4 out of 5 of these bricks caused by a failed Odin have come back to life by popping the battery in and out and trying to get into download mode. I can count the number that I have seen never come back on my hands. Some people give up to soon, others found leaving it overnight and trying again has worked. But a lot have been revived. Also he did not have repartition checked so has an even better chance.
When you try to put in download mode without the battery are you holding the buttons down while plugging the cable in? If not then do it that way

hope you get this worked out bud

Galaxy S3 Won't Power On

Hi , I'm having problems with my Galaxy T999. I have rooted and have not yet installed any kernels/roms. The only thing i did was installed a couple apps from the play store . and wanted to check out the CWM recovery menu and was going to try to installed "hyperX camera mod". First thing i did was shut off the phone . Then pressed on the Volume up+Home+Power button . After doing that my phone didn't turn on or anything , no vibration or anything . I hooked it on with my computer and press the power button and it was able to connect and then disconnected. I am at lost now and can't seem to find any answer . Have looked every where not sure what to do now. Any solution will be much appreciated .
***
It seems to disconnect due to no driver found for QHUSUB_DLOAD .
Without any solutions I'll probably gonna get my phone replace . T_T
Does your phone disconnect immediately, or does it stay connected for a brief amount of time? If it stays connected briefly, try using adb during this period to boot into recovery. The command is "adb reboot recovery" (without the quotes).

Try to remove your battery then plug in charger. See if you can turn on. If you can turn it on, leave it 30 minutes. Then put in the battery.
By the looks of the result the computer gives you when you plug it in, seems it is hard bricked! Are you sure you didn't flash anything from the I9300 section like a rom?

SGS3 T999v wont start up.
My sgs3 t999v would turn off by itself every other time I hit the lock button.
like I would be txting and then if I hit the lock button it would turn off.
So I though a factory reset would fix the problem. (volume up + home).
after the reset it still kept turning off randomly.
and now I cant even get it to the normal interface. or get in to the manual reset mode.
Device was previously jail broken, however was returned back to stock and was working fine for 3 months.
I had my otterbox on for every fall my phone had, so I dont think it would be a hardware issue.
the phone was running 4.1.1 I believe.
stock rom.

Even though you have a case on it, it sounds like it was probably damaged by one of the falls. Most cases as far as I'm aware mostly protect the display. The shock from impact can still damage internal components, even with a case built with this in mind.

Hey thanks for replying!
I drained the battery and got a new charge in it and managed to get it booted up
however now the problem of the lock button is still here.
like if i use it to lock my screen it just turns off on me, and it takes multiple times for me to get the phone up and running again.
you could see if you could find a widget or widgets that will basically put a button on your screen that can power off, enable lock screen, reboot recovery/download, etc.
Then just use the HOME button to turn the screen back on.
It sounds to me like a hardware problem, but if you can flash another Rom and do a full wipe/factory reset you'll know for sure.
I hope this helps. Not sure what else you can do besides getting it repaired or replaced unfortunately.
Maybe someone else will have a better idea though.

[Q] just want to confirm if this is hard bricked

So I bought 2 sgh-t989 at the same time... one for me and the other for my sister
she lives in another city but whenever we see each other, I've always tried to make sure that her phone is running the exact same setup as mine just so I can always provide "tech support" for her phone
anyway, she went on some trip and afterwards, she said her phone wouldn't boot up anymore
since she couldn't get a hold of me, she brought her phone to a store to try and get it fixed (bad bad mistake)
she left the phone at the store for a day to determine how much it would cost to fix it
after being quoted $100 for the fix, she decided it was too much to pay and just took her phone back
long story short... a week later, I finally have the phone in my hand... and this phone won't boots up, i've put in fully charged batteries and when I press (and hold) the power button, it does absolutely NOTHING... not even that initial vibration when it boots up
i've tried to plug it to the computer and it doesn't get recognize
its permanently off and i can't, for the life of me, figure out just how to even boot this thing into TWRP... just so I can attempt to recover her files
SO.... my question... is this truly bricked?
do I have to break the news to her that all the pictures she took on the trip is now unrecoverable?
plug it into the computer and see what it gets recognized as. if its qualcomm823830283203 some like that its hardbricked

I bricked my S2 last Saturday night, just got it back form Jtag service. Took a week and 28 bucks from the ebay vendor that performed the service.
Now that my phone is back to stock, can anyone help me to load TWRP again. I have odin, latest USB drivers, and TWRP for my phone...but cant seem to get to the ODIN restore screen on the phone.
Volume Up, down, left right, left right, A, B Start. Oh wait I think that was for contra.....
Please help to get me to the Odin load on phone.
I can then flash TWRP thru odin, get to TWRP and load my favorite ROM.
Any GURUS, Please confirm that this is right. I remember a complicated process when rooting initially, loading root file on SD card, similar process up down ect....
But since the rom I am flashing is already rooted, is it required to go thru the gyrations. cant I just flash TWRP and flash a rooted rom?

I want to know if my phone is bricked, its a Samsung glaxy sgh-T898 (but from telus) i am using a cynagenmod custom rom 10
i was using it then it went idle then when i went to unlock it back, it shut off and started to repeatedly vibrate like a pulse
so i then did a battery pull and then it vibrate and the "Samsung sgh-t898 logo appeared" for a sec or 2 and the phone shut back off and did the pulsing vibrating thing
i got the same result when i plug it into the charger and computer, even plug it in without the battery in it and pulsing vibrating happen again.
ps this had happen in the past but the phone came on like after 5 mins of, its now been hours it wont come on just keep vibrating

looks like the sticky power button. First try putting compressed air on your power button. then resort to this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1931310

Thanks for replying so quickly , i think you might be right about sticky power button, because when put in the battery the vibrates begins
automatically and then i try turn on then hold the power and volume keys it entered into download menu but for 2 secs then shut off again and begin to start vibrating(pulsing again)
so i guess the download menu means its not brick, will try suggestion once i get a proper torque screw driver

[HELP]

I was on fb with my SGH - T999, the whole day the phone kept freezing, and turning off.
The last time, i was on fb and opened my gallery the phone just froze, shut down and refused to turn back on.
I tried charging, no light, no vibration. Tried power, home volume up nothing came up,
With the battery in i get no light
however when i take battery out, and put charger in i get a red light as if its charging
I still cant turn it on tho...
EDIT:
When i plug into computer, i hear a sound, but the comp says device not recognized. Please tell me this can be fixed
Also i have no warranty anymore...
Sounds like it could be bricked. Can you get it into download mode manually.

How do i do that, I tried the volume up,home and power, and i also tried volume down.
I didn't do anything in terms of flashing roms...so it cant be bricked can it?
Yes it can technically speaking I guess. Brick is meant a device that has no worth to it besides holding things down such as a brick would be used for. CPUs fail all the time this happens unfortunately on the s3 and other handsets as well.

See if you can download Odin 3.07 (you may need to install Samsung drivers as well). Once you get Odin running, plug in your phone. It should say COM# (where # is a number).
You say you were on original firmware. Did you make any changes? Flash anything? Or was it only using fb?
EDIT: The other possibility is to restart the phone in recovery (volume up + home + power) and do a factory reset. Unfortunately, that means losing all of your data, but it should hopefully get your phone running again.

I think there is a problem with the motherboard. This problem is called "sudden death syndrome"
Anyone know where i can get a SGH-T999 motherboard replaced cheap in Toronto,Ontario?
Sudden death syndrome is referring to an issue in the original firmware on the I9300. The T999 isn't plagued by this at all and the firmware isn't the culprit. The device is, however, over a year old, and hardware can, and does, fail sometimes.
Check google and ebay for your part.

Could it be hardbricked then: I wasn't flashing any firmware at all. I only rooted the phone to install some apps, but that was months ago, and i left the phone on 4.1.1
If it is hardbricked can i then just JTAG it back to life and not have to buy a new motherboard?
It sounds like it is a hardware failure, unfortunately.
