Hi guys i hope that someone can help me!
I have a problem with ClockworkMod 3.2.0.0 because when I go into recovery from hboot ClockworkMod opens but when I select "install zip from sd card" only the background remains with the hat and I do not select the files in the sd.
Even when I select "power down" the phone is switched on and still remains on the screen with the hat.
How about pressing power button when on the hat icon and then pressing trackpad . Try them and you will know.

I had not thought!! Thanks very much mate!!
Hello guys!
I have exactly the opposite problem.
I rooted and s-off my phone following these instructions:
baert.ulyssis.be/ 2010/ 10/ 13/ wildpuzzle-rom-for-htc-wildfire/
(sorry for spaces, but the forum doesn't allow me to psot the link otherwise).
Then I installed SuperUser and then ROM Manager, in order to flash a new ROM. Then ROM-Manager "told" that my CWM Recovery 3.0.0.6 was incompatible or something like that and it should automatically download and flash Recovery 2.5.0.7. I allowed it to download the new Recovery and proceeded with installing my ROM (WildPuzzleROM_2.2.1 v0.8) successfully.
Every time I needed to access Recovery 2.5.0.7, I just open ROM-Manager and chose "Reboot into Recovery", and it always rebooted into Recovery 2.5.0.7. But today I tried to access Recovery by rebooting and holding down volume button. And it loaded Recovery 3.0.0.6. I turned off the phone, re-opened it, went to ROM-Manager and chose again "Reboot into Recovery" and it loaded Recovery 2.5.0.7.
So apparently my phone has two versions of Recovery. It loads version 3.0.0.6 when I reboot with the volume button and it loads version 2.5.0.7 through ROM-Manager. And I need ONLY Recovery 2.5.0.7, because the other version crashes (error message: "Amend Scripting is deprecated by Google in Cupcake...etc etc") every time I tried to flash new ROMs and I read somewhere in the forums that this happens because of the 3.x version of Recovery.
So here comes my question: How do I remove Recovery 3.0.0.6 and keep ONLY 2.5.0.7 ?
Thank you all very much, beforehand!
You can do so by using fastboot to manualy flash the old recovery using the command "fastboot flash recovery <path to recovery>recovery.img". If you do not now how to use fastboot, you have to search the forum a bit (can't give you any links as I'm using the xda app).
But for your problem: it is all normal. ROM Manager launches indeed some kind of temporary recovery, which is stored on your sdcard.
But you better rethink about downgrading your recovery: there is a reason why people we are now on v4 of clockworkmod some bugs are fixed (for example, now you can charge your phone when its off - isn't possible with any version of CWM lower then v3) and the menu is better, with more and handy options. The only reason why we keep using the old CWM is because of its ability to flash "old" zipfiles.
So in my opion, it is not worthet to downgrade CWM. You gain much more with the new one, and it is really no effort to flash your "old" zip files with the use of ROM Manager.

Obviously you were right on the part that I should actually upgrade my CWM Recovery instead of downgrading it. And the main reason for this, proved to be that my former version had a charging bug. If I charged the phone while switched off, it wouldn't switch on, unless I removed the battery.
Anyway, I followed your advise and flashed Clockwork 4.0.1.4.110720. But the charging problem was still there, so I tried several versions of CWM, till I finally found that for my case Clockworkmod Recovery v3.2.0.0 was the best option.

Device: HTC Wildfire (Buzz PVT SHIP S-OFF HBOOT 6.01.1022)
ROM: WildPuzzleROM 2.2.1 v0.8
Recovery: Clockworkmod Recovery v3.2.0.0
If I boot into recovery all functions doesn't work anymore. Reboot, backup ... nothing. I have to pull the battery to restart my desire. The strange thing is that it worked excellent for a couple of month. I tried ext4 and clockworkmod but the same happened for both.
In ext4 usaually all file systems like boot, root, sdext will shown but now only the ext4 fs on sdcard and fat fs on sdacrd will shown.
Does anybody have an idea?

I flashed ext4 with 4ext recovery updater and clockworkmod over rom manager. I didn't flash it with android flasher but I guess it's no important how the recovery has been flashed. In both ccases the recovery has been installed successfully but if I boot into it and try to choose any option nothing happened. The strange thing is that it worked before and due to what ever reason now it's stopped working.
What I am wondering about is that 4ext recovery doesn't show the file systems of the phone anymore what it does before. May the recoveries doesn't have access to the phone filesystem anymore....
Could this be a reason ? and if yes how to solve it ?
Did you try amon ra or rmd recovery?

I tried 4ext and different CWM versions. The last try was with revolutionary CWM. All without success. I don't think it's related to the recoveries itself as 4ext and CWM worked before. Bu I don't have a clue what might have changed on my mobile that it doesn't work anymore.
I think flashing recovery manually or at least using Android flasher it is a lot better than doing it via rom manager or 4ext recovery updater. That's what most people say here anyways. Give it a try.

Wait, you used ROM Manager?
Now I tried some different methods of flashing with some different recoveries.
- I flashed with android flasher as suggested
- direct with adb
- I put a PB99IMG.zip file on the sd card and updated via bootloader
I used following recoveries cwm-4.0.1.4, recovery-clockwork-2.5.0.7, recovery-RA-desire-v2.0.1
Independend from the flash method the result was always the same.
I got the recovery flashed but after reboot into recovery no menu function of the recovery worked. Even for a simple reboot I had to pull the battery.
So I can only come to the result it's not the method of flashing nor the recovery itself. But of course that will not solve my problem
Any further suggestions are highly welcome.
I found the missing link in another thread

Are you navigating through the screens with the trackpad?
the power button does nothing there.
I used the volume button to navigate and the power button to select the menu entry - that was the fault.
With using trackpad everything is fine.
So problem solved
Thanks guys for your support.
Hello, Im kind of new to both this phone and custom roms, and it seems like ive gotten myself in some trouble.
I installed the ICS alpha rom to play around with, and now i cant seem to install any other rom. I had trouble flashing the clockwork recovery, so i used the alternate recovery listed at the bottom of the Rom manager program. That one worked, and i installed the ICS rom with no problem.
Now i want to install a different rom, but i for some reason cant. no matter what rom i try it gives errors at the verification point during installation and automatically aborts. Is there any way to fix this?
Thanks,
Plethysmograph
Well I know CWM has an option when you install a .zip there's an option to turn off/on signature verification. But alternate recovery I dunno
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
the alternate recovery i have is RA_GNM Recovery 3.02, if that helps. I tried to flash clockwork recovery and i didnt get any problems but when i went to boot in to recovery it just booted in to the other one

Did you then go back into Rom Manager and select "Flash Alternate Recovery" to switch over to CWM?
Also, what version of CWM did you download? Where did you get this file from?
Here is a verified site for Inc recoveries: http://pvillecomp.com/?page_id=28
Im confused, the alternate recovery option is the RA_GNM Recovery. I downloaded the latest version of it from the clockwork mod website (5.0.2.0)
would the problem im having be due to a different PB31IMG?

Ok, that is the proper file. Once you selected the option, your alternate recovery became your primary recovery and vice versa. Amon Ra is now and still your main recovery whereas CWM is your "alternate recovery." Selecting the "flash alternate recovery" option again (if it allows that is) should switch it back over to CWM.
Even after doing all that it still goes to the other recovery. Or maybe im just doing something wrong, which is most likely the case.

Ohhhh, I see the problem. Select "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery" in Rom Manager to go from Amon Ra to CWM. To test, I began with CWM 3.0.0.8:
1) installed Rom Manager and upgraded to 5.0.2.0
2) selected "Flash Alternate Recovery" and Amon Ra was installed. I then booted into recovery to verify it was there.
3) reboot phone and go back into Rom Manager and select "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery" and let it update.
4) go into recovery if you want to visual verification. Tada CWM 5.0.2.0 is installed for me.
How's this work?
I tried those steps and it seems like the other recovery is still on there. I must be doing something incorrect because your steps make sense, but for some reason my phone is just being incredibly stubborn
Also when i go and try to flash the stock PB31IMG file it says the current one is newer and doesnt go through with it. I know i had to use a different one in order to put ICS on, and for some reason i think it may have to do with some of the problems im having.

Hmm, aight how about this...
Go into rom manager and press Menu, then select "Erase Recovery" then try the first "Flash Clockwork Recovery" option again.
Otherwise, download CWM 5.0.2.0 from the link I posted above. Place that file onto the root of your sd card and delete the other CWM file you previously downloaded. As you know, you need to install this PB31IMG.zip via hboot.
I really think we can and will get this recovery situation straightened out.
Edit: just read your second post. Hmm, I wasn't aware of any additional CWM instructions for that rom. I'll take a look at it now and see if anything stands out.
When trying to use the stock PB31IMG file, I get the error that says:
Main Version is older!
Update Fail!
Do you want to reboot device?
Ive tried both and still no dice. Its really odd, and i agree with you on the instructions for that ROM, i know i saw them somewhere but i cant for the life of me remember where.
Flash this thru hboot http://dinc.does-it.net/PB31IMG.zip. Put it on your sd in no folders. Do not rename it. This is an hboot flashable of cwm 5.0.2.0.
Amon RA is stricter than cwm when flashing files by default. If you want to continue to use Amon you will need to go in to it and go to the flash zip menu and select toggle signature verifications. Then try to flash a rom.
Well I did not notice anything in that thread aside from rom bugs and people not able to flash that ICS [alpha] in recovery. The first set of directions I found are here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20486856&postcount=244
I have to ask because both recoveries will be the same blue color. Regardless of the setting you select, when you go into recovery the label still states Amon Ra? As in, even after you go into recovery and select "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery" then reboot into recovery the label at the bottom is the same "Amon Ra"?
I appreciate the assistance cmlusco.
the file linked did work, but clockwork still doesn't show up. it still loads the amon recovery for some reason. this is so frustrsting haha. I mean if there's no way to get clockwork on there do you know of any roms that will install through the amon recovery?
I'm not sure about AmonRa compatibility, I always assumed everything worked for both recoveries. I never strayed from the recommendation to use CWM. I took the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" attitude. Have you tried the latter part of cmlusco's post in Amon Ra?

Verry strange. I have never heard of that happening. Well another sugestion would be to try to flash the stock recovery thru hboot and see if it will take. http://dinc.does-it.net/stockGBrecovery/PB31IMG.zip. If it does, reboot, and then try flashing cw again and see if it will take. If that dosent work i would try to flash an ruu and get back to stock.
I never saw an option to toggle the signature verifications, where is it? I tried the stock recovery, and it loaded up no problems but when i went in to recovery it was still the Amon Ra recovery.
Hello XDA-developers,
I wanted to install clockworkmod on my samsung galaxy gio and something went wrong....
It is now stuck in the samsung splash and not sure what to do.
What I did:
i rooted the device successfully and downloaded px-cwm-V2.zip from here "http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1337178"
next i rebooted it into recovery(stock) and flashed the px-cwm-V2.zip(renamed it to update.zip)
and rebooted it and now its stuck.....
What should i do......
Thx to all.
Can you get into recovery?
If not, you should flash CWM with ODIN, and try again.
Also which rom are you using (stock froyo, gingerbread, etc...). And which CWM did you install exactly?
No i cant get in to recovery.....
ok ill try that...
i think its froyo, i remember it showing 2.2
the CWM i flashed was the one from "http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1337178" (V5.x)
i just renamed it to update.zip cuz the stock recovery couldnt install custom zips
thank u for replying
hope we can fix this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1421650
Flash the third one from the top (cwm-5.0.2.7-ext4+rfs-odin.tar.md5 (Flash With ODIN)).
when i connect it to my computer it doesnt connect...
You have to go into download mode.
how do i got into download mode
Volume Down + Home + Power
where it says select images, which one do i select the rom in
FIXXED
YOUR AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!thank u sooooooooo much
Fist wait, until windows installs odin drivers for your phone, and when odin sees your device:
1. Select ops file (GIO_v1.0.ops)
2. Tick One Package option.
3. At the bottom click on the one package button, and browse CWM.
4. Click start.
Hi,
I would like to remind you that, CMW v3.x above are no longer support amend scripting which is used in Froyo ROM. Instead it used edify scripting which is used in Gingerbread ROM.
When you are on Froyo and try to use the latest CWM, it will not work, and you will encounter a problem just like you said.
Hi everyone!
First of all, thank you for taking the time to read this!
I have tried to do research on my problem but can't solve it...
The problem is that i can't get into recovery to backup my stock rom.
Specs: HTC Wildfire S, marvel A510e, S-on, Bootloader unlocked, Rooted, Radio-7.54.39.28M, Andriod 2.3.5, HTC sence: 2.1, Current Recovery: ClockworkMod 5.0.2.8, Super SU.
I followed the guide: "How to root the Wildfire S with S-ON"on Andriod forums by CafeKampuchia, thumbs up for him, It got me this far but, now I want to do the thing for which I rooted my phone in the first place: Installing a costum ROM. Therefore I want to backup my stock ROM.
When I open in HBOOT (1.09.0099) and select recovery, the phone reboots and i see the HTC screen, this disappears after 2 sec and my screen turns black... (phone is still on beceause the buttons on the bottom are lighted.)
When I boot the normal way and try to boot into recovery trough CWM ROM manager same thing happen. Also flashed this recovery: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1213229 Same thing happed...
So how can i backup my stock rom?
Many thanks in advantage!

Hello!
We have already faced this problem. We cannot find the reason why on some devices CWM is not working. It is characteristic for some devices. The decision is not found yet. We used all known methods for today, and all CWM versions (5.0.2.6 & 5.0.2.8), but are not present result.

You might try placing update zip on root of your sdcard and choose apply update from sdcard.
Too bad it doesn't have reinstall packages.
