Gday,
I tried to install Alpha 11 of CM10 on my phone today without backing up existing rom (please don't hammer me for that, I know it was dumb)
Anyway, the boot animation for CM was up for ages so I tried to go back into fastboot but now it just sits there with the
"checking SD card update..." text there and just doesn't progress. I am assuming this is a dead phone?
thank you anyone who tries to help me out here

Never proceed without back ups !
Have you tried flashing the boot.img from the rom?
Did you wipe cache/dalvik cache?
If all else fails, try to find the RUU for your device?
Hope this is helpful..
really sorry, had power plugged in....
Did you flash the correct boot.img through fastboot?

Hahaha okay !
A generalization for android devices if you can still enter bootloader then its not bricked.
Nope , not a dead phone ...

Hi, I have just solved this problem by charging, changing the cable and unpluging. Then I installed JB Android_Revolution_HD-One_X_33.1, but it stucks on HTC logo.
I have S-ON and HBOOT 1.31. CWM 5.8.4.0.
What should I do now?
Thanks.

Hi there,
I would like to ask if there is someone that could help me solve my problem.
I was going to install a custom ROM from Hashcode (OFFICIAL CM10.1), but before I had a chance to flash it I stumbled upon a problem when I tried to flash TWRP from TWEEZERMOD 1-CLICK cordless METHOD, I downloaded TWRP ran it and while it was installing
it rebooted my Kindle Fire 2 I could see Kindle Fire logo and after that flowed by RED SCREEN and no way out of there, I can turn it off when I
long press the power button for 20 seconds, but after I turn it on same thing happens Kindle Fire logo and followed by RED Screen.
I purchased a fastboot cable from Ebay
and after plugging it into my KF2 and then into my laptop, I'm stuck at Fastboot screen with a traffic light BLINKING GREEN.
Can anyone help me with the next steps, as I have no idea what to do, and I tried to google this with no luck.
Thank in advance
Screen
Actually I followed your instructions at the beggining of your thread and they worked like a charm, the KF First Aid didn't for some reason,
But anyway thank you lots.
For people who have the same problem just download this tool from mindmajick
Restoration tool link:
Once downloaded run the tool and in the options choose
1st Check fastboot status
2nd Erase cache and userdata
3rd Restore-Boot and recovery
4th then wait after your Kindle will be booting for a bit, at some point I thought I was stuck at the booting logo but it was just preparing your KF2
SUCCESS =D

Hi there again,
I'm completely lost,
I don't even know how to mount raw system image file nor what it is,
maybe if that is fine for you, could you send me a step by step guide please.
Kind REGARDS :fingers-crossed:
Huh? The instructions there are simpler than rooting and installing custom ROM.
You might be better off with this tool. And you can ask the OP any questions you have since he's very active

Red Screen Kindle Fire 2 Help
I have had a look at that one and for some reason the KF First Aide cannot find my device,
it keeps giving me this message whenever I try to Completly restore or Display the fastboot Status
"The system cannot find the path specified".
I would like to try it your way but as I don't understand the terms used it your instructions or procedures I'm unable to do so,
that is why I asked for you step by step guide.
So when I got to your post I went straight into last page number 4
Followed these steps
QUOTE:
DRIVERS- USE THE ONES IN THIS POST- http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1893838
ADB- USE THE ADB FROM THE KINDLE FIRE FIRST AID TOOL-
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2096888
I installed Kindle fire First AID tool and also installed the drivers needed, unistalled SDK.
Now I don't know what to do, can you help me please?

And one more question,
I just check the list of my apps and I see that my super user is still there and working,
does that mean my Kindle is still rooted?
If so is there any way I could install Gapps on it, the version of my Kindle Fire 2 is 10.4.1
Thank you:highfive:

Hello there,
Yes I do know that, but as it didn't work for me to install TWRP which is quite important for flashing a new ROM
I will be doing a step by step guide that worked for me.
You see I was following the instruction for Hashcode CM 10.1 and when I tried to install TWRP on my KF2
I got stuck at the Red Screen, and then I had to unbrick my KF2, thanks to Mindmajick I unbricked.

I've got a Factory cable on the way, will be here tomorrow.
Also DL'd the KF2 SRT from MindMajick, I'm assuming this does require said Factory Cable, no?
Thanks!

I've got CWM installed onto my Ouya, supposedly, but every time I adb reboot recovery, it boot into the standard Android recovery system, and not CWM. Is there something I needed to do in addition to just installing CWM?
How did you install cwm?

I used the one-click method found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2295645
I also just read that the manual method renames a file that causes the stock recovery to re-enable itself; could it be that the one-click method didn't rename that file?
One-click should do the same. At least for me the one click method fails. Did yours run through without errors? Try the manual one and report back for issues.

I just tried the manual method, and everything went perfectly -- I have CWM installed, and I can boot into it whenever I need to now. I tried again with the one-click method, and it still didn't work, so something weird must have happened with it, but the manual one worked like a charm. Thanks for the help!
Glad it worked for you. I personally don't like these one click scripts. They're too prone to errors.

Try to change recovery and completely uninstall all drivers related to adb and htc...then install latest htc sync or so...normally a full wipe shouldn't break anything relates to drivers

well i uninstalled my old htc drivers and installed new ones and now fastboot is not working, so i can't put a new recovery =/
Then put phone in fastboot mode and let the pc install the drivers...try another usb port at your pc ...and also restart after uninstalling drivers and also after reinstalling...there is also a package with adb and fastboot drivers...in general section and123 posted a link...download that package install it and all should work

Unlocking the bootloader will not cause any issue.
Rooting will result in OTA failure to install. But with your bootloader unlocked, you can still fastboot flash the factory image. (that's just a different method of installing an update. Result will be exactly the same.)
