[Q] SystemUI Force Closes on removing Camera part - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
Recently my xperia arc s got into water and started to show blank screen.
I dried it up but still no luck.
I opened it up and started removing parts one by one until the screen showed up when i removed the camera part.
However the system ui does not start and always FCs.
I have tried multiple systemUI -serajr, Sxperia Z system UI , stock UI, but all crash.
Can any one let me know how to make it work.
I am currently using Xperia HD 3.0.2 rom and willing to switch to any rom as long as my phone works.
Thanks in advance

First of all, just let it dry for couple of days (3 is the very minimum).
Second, don't open up your phone into parts. Just take out battery and leave the phone itself to dry. Opening up the phone can causes some other issues, if you even accidentally make a tiny mistake.
Third, if you have firmware issues, always flash back to stock firmware with either Flashtool or PC Companion.

Well it was working but then suddenly went to blank screen. That's when i suspected some part got fried.
BTW I have got the systemui FC problem solved.. turned out the flashlight feature(which needs to connect to camera) in quick panel was throwing exception and crashing the systemui.
Just disabled it and all works fine now..
Can anyone let me know where i can get the camera module for xperia arc?

Xperia Play Turns off When Tapped

Hi guys,
Shortly after I got my screen replaced (and possibly the flex cable) I noticed my Play turning off when it was in my pocket.
I went to investigate and found out it turns off because it gets "tapped" on the top. I can't use my phone with this issue.
Opening and then closing the gamepad at normal speed turns it off completely too.
I'm running CM9 (FXP) and I've just done a wipe and still nothing...
Anything is appreciated,
- Shane

I think your flex cable wasn't attached properly. I had a similar problem earlier

Possibly the prawns that connect to the battery are damaged/loose. Therefore not connecting to where they should be, when u drop your phone into your pocket or slide open gamepad.

[Q] Mainboard replaced - keeps forgetting settings

My Xperia S has been extra slow and buggy for a month now. It would get very warm, CPU above 50% for half an hour without the phone being used, shutting down apps I was using, camera would only take one photo before error reports forgetting settings on restart, etc. Personally, I suspected problems with the internal storage. Factory resets don't help.
The repair store recently replaced the mainboard. However, the phone keeps forgetting settings every time I restart: Widgets disappear, some icons disappear, keyboard is reset to default. This applies to exactly the same widgets/icons as before the mainboard supposedly was replaced. I haven't tested it long enough to know if the other issues are still present.
Why does the phone keep forgetting my settings? Are those details related to another part of the device, not the motherboard? I.e. is the internal storage integrated in the motherboard? Any suggestions?

Hi,
Please use Sony Update Service/PC Companion and do a software re-install. If your bootloader is unlocked (you will get a message that " Software has been modified" when you try to use SUS/Companion) then use Flashtool by Androxyde and flash the latest JB's FTF file. You can find the ftf file over here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2342864
This should take care of all software issues.
Good luck

I have not flashed or rooted my phone in any way. I have done factory reset/software reinstall 5 times over the last month. Is it necessary to flash the phone to solve this issue?

If you have already tried doing a software repair, then I guess that the only option left would be to take it to Sony.

[Q] Touchscreen not responding

Hello guys, I need your help.
Today, out of the blue, my wife's ION (lt28at) touchscreen stopped responding. The phone boots just fine (perhaps a bit slower than before, but that's my appreciation), messages are received, apps update automatically, but it doesn't respond to touch. How could it happened? we were just arriving home from a running workout, we were sitting on the porch and the phone rebooted on its own, after that it stopped responding to touch.
Now I've got a very sad wife, very little chance of getting a new device (the market in Venezuela is very restricted and limitative), and no clue as to how to fix it.
Please if any of you can help me here, it will be most appreciated.
Edit: Forgot to mention. the device has its bootloader locked. Firmware updated to ICS 6.1.C.1.111. Rooted (probably about 9 months ago).

Try taking a backup of data and re installing the software using Sony PC Companion.
Sorry for the lack of response. As suggested I tried to repair the firmware via Sony PC Companion. No success there. Looks like somehow its some piece of hardware malfuctioning.
I'm going to try to open the device and see if something is out of place. I'll post what happens then.
my device -->>Xperia S
same thing happen with me after shutdown when i turned it on back(pressing power to ON)
the phone was slow and after 1 or 5 min touch screen not responding...
so i tried switching off but touch screen was not working so i opened by phone backpanel with screwdriver
after that i took out the battery and placed it back.
then again i turned it on after that everything was fine my touchscreen was working good..
i dont know its was my luck or something ..
PLZ dont open your phone if you dont Know..!!!

Rebooting every few minutes - my tablet now resembles a potato

Hi all,
I have a vanilla, unrooted tablet which had Marshmallow installed a few weeks ago. It reboots constantly (like I am lucky to get 2-3 minutes out of it). Sometimes it reboots 7 or 8 times in a row until I give up and hold the power button down.
Have cleared cache and factory reset (multiple times). This hasnt solved the problem. I thought this might be an issue with the Google Play Store, as it generally crashes as soon as I run this (as the first thing I do after the reset) - so after one of the resets I downloaded the latest playstore APK and installed it. Also did not login to the play store in case this was corrupted or something. Have tried this without loading ANY apps other than the stock that comes after the reset - but still the issue persists.
All of the above has been done with the SD card removed - and with full charge
Generally it crashes as soon as I try and run any app or go to settings etc. This is even with the completely factory reset and wiped tablet with no additional apps installed.
Having tried everything, am down to the theory of hardware fault - specifically the battery. After the last update (which failed half way through) I had big problems with battery life and the tablet got (and still gets) quite hot. I am thinking something in the new update might have put extra stress on the battery, which after a few weeks has caused it to fail.
Is this possible, and is there anyway in logs etc to tell if this is hardware or software?
Anyway, other than throwing this away and buying a new one - am not sure what the next step to solve this is. (Maybe revert to previous Android?). Any suggestions or help is welcome, but I am thinking of throwing this away and not throwing good money after bad...
(Have emailed Samsung but of course never heard back - so suffice to say my next tab wont be Samsung)
try download your stock firmware and flash it with odin via your pc.
i had problem with my tab...i had restarts always...whatever i do, every few seconds it restarts by itself... but it works normaly on cable so i went to search for a solution and lol i laughed when i saw what was the solution...i removed the backcover fo the device and then just reatached the battery connector cable and thats it and now my tab works normaly even on battery.not sure if u have similar issue but u can try it it will take u 5 min work and also u have video on Youtube how to dissambly galaxy tab S...cheers mate and wish u good luck
I solved this prob yesterday, itb works fine nw, didnt crash since, just open the tablet remove the basttery vlean its pins then reinstall it
U can find vedios explaining hw to remomve z battery
OK - have updated firmware with ODIN (and tried 3 different versions going back to Android 5)
Have undone the back and removed battery and reset cables. Even replaced the battery with one I bought off Ebay
Cant think of anything else, must be a fault on a board somewhere...
I think she is dead. :crying:
Thanks to those who posted and sent me PM's - really do appreciate it.
By the way, it is definitely something to do with the power. When it reboots and it is attached to a USB, the screen flashes up with the empty battery (ie charging from completely empty) symbol momentarily (maybe a second or 2 tops) before flashing up with 64% or whatever the actual battery level is...

If your battery can go from 0% to 64% in a few seconds, the battery connector needs to be resoldered due to cracked solder joints.
This rework only takes 5 minutes , ask a repair shop or anyone knows how to solder for assistant.

Xperia M "Unfortunately, xxxx has stopped" for ALL apps CONSTANTLY

Hi all, read many threads here and finally posting.
I have an xperia M (C1905 I think)
Short story:
As soon as I turn on this device within a few seconds I get the "Unfortunately, xxxx has stopped". I hit okay and within a second something else is stopped. This is repeated constantly for as long as I could tolerate waiting for. The odd occasion I have managed to get maybe 5 seconds between app crashing to navigate into the settings to try something out or check the album.
I am asking for help on what to do in order to access the files on the device. I really really want to save the images. I since has moved on to a Z and now a Z3 but at this moment I want to get the images. (Factory reset is thus out of the question). I rather leave the phone intact for years to pass until some technology makes it possible to retrieve the files.
Longer story:
I think this issue started occurring after an android update - which leads me to my conspiracy at the end of the post. Basically after an update I started noticing random apps being stopped/crashing without warning. Apps that weren't even being used. This happened maybe once a week, then a couple times a week. Seemed pretty random at first. Thus why I never took a moment to see the exponential trend and act fast to back up data. Over the course of a month probably, this just got worse to the point where an app of some sort is constantly crashing. It could be facebook, then gmail, then google, then a service, then homescreen blah blah anything and everything is crashing just so it can fill the screen. Multiple at a time. I hit ok and another appears or 5 more appear. Then I might get a glorious 4/5 seconds to browse the contents of the phone then boom another batch of crashes. The phone is completely useless right now, no way to navigate. Also, even with the phone turned on in safe mode or not, I cannot access the files whilst connected to my computer. The charging indicator shows up, computer recognises the device but on the odd occasion it does show up in "my computer" the folder does not open and the file explorer/documents just crashes. Xperia companion doesn't work either.
There was also an issue with charging/transferring media with the charge port. Bad connections but it was made better using the Sony original cable I have now. It charges alright now (instead of needing "the right" angle). Still, as far as I can remember data was hard to trasnfer, maybe I got 10 songs copied over before it stopped responding and had to cancel. All the files on the SD card I saved of course but the ones on internal storage are still there. I browsed the album for a few seconds and I just want to get them on my pc. I tried to copy to SD card but I can't perform that with the constant bombarding of crashing app error notifications that fill the screen. Also it seems like once the phone is on, I can navigate around (with the bombardment of crashing) but once the screen is allowed to time out it doesn't wake back with the power button. To mess with it again I have to pull the battery and put it back in. I have booted in safe mode to no avail, apps still keep crashing.
Please please help. I have USB debugging enabled if that helps? I just want to drag and drop my images and then the phone can sit in a draw. I am sure a factory reset would have it working back to normal but I can't lose the files.
Btw I think SONY is purposefully killing off these older devices. The phone worked flawlessly, yes it's older and not as fast but there was not a single issue (besides maybe the charge port wear). This issue with crashing is completely software related after an android update.
The phone is not rooted and no random software was installed (just social media and the like).
THANK you for any help!
Brad
Hey which rom are you using? do you have unlock your bootloader? if you are using stock rom and not unlock your phone bootloader then it can be resolve by using a software repair using sony pc companion.
