im trying to repair a friend's incredible of mine and he said that ever since he replaced his cracked screen the power button hasn't been able to turn on the phone. So what i did is try to open the phone up myself and see if he is missing any parts from the mobo. If you guys have any pictures of the mobo of this phone it would help me identify what could be wrong.

You're best bet it to try to find copies of the FCC approval teardown. Often, but not always, they're floating around out there.

alright thanks and i actually did figure out the problem. There's a small part missing from the power button that keeps the phone from turning on. I was able to use a small object to poke it and it works. but i will need those fcc approval teardown pics. so thanks for the suggestion

Just thought I'd inform those who can't get into download mode any other way, I plugged in the old jig to my Samsung vibrant and it forced my phone into download mode no problem. For those who already have one, no need to get a second. To those who don't, get one on Amazon for $10, it will save your ass
Definitely buying one.

It might have been a little more helpful if you presented links for the "$10 jigs" is my only thought. Either way, nice to know...

So I dropped my S3, BUT, only the silver bezel is scratched, and it is REALLY BOTHERING me when I use my S3. I'm thinking about buying a new part, and swap it out myself.
After watching the video, it seems easy but yet lots of work, also risk breaking something that bound to have more problems.
So my question is, what would you guys do?
Put a case on it and keep using it.
I'm not sure anyone can help you determine the risk vs. reward of eliminating a scratch that only impacts you.
Put a case on it, or poke your eyes out so you don't see it.

Funny responses. This is exactly what happened to mine. Do like me, be VERY thankful that's all that happened and put a case on it now. I bought a big ass otterbox defender the next day. I can't see the scratches anymore but my heart still aches.

you need to start a thread in q/a about your issue, or better yet, find an already created one with the same issue and read it, trust me there's plenty of them....

his post says he is using volume up to get into download.... its volume down for download... might not need a jig...
home + vol down + power for download
No, starting a new thread is not the answer. Searching existing threads is the proper answer. You are not the first person to have this problem.

Oh smart.
There are two ways to get into download when the phone won't come one (if it's not in need of JTAG)
While off:
Hold home + volume down + power
Force download mode:
Hook the USB cord to the computer but not the phone yet. Hold Home + Volume Down and hook the USB cord to the phone.... Don't use the power button...
I've looked around the forums and everywhere online but no one seems to have a solution to my problem. A few days ago i was using my Nexus 7 and i placed it down normally and shut the screen off. I came back to use it a few minutes later and the screen didn't turn on though the device itself was still on. I thought maybe it was just some lag which happens occasionally after i press the power button. I tried restarting it but the screen just stayed black. I think it is still charging because the led notification light still lights up every few seconds as usual and it still seems to be powered on. Is there a possible solution to fix this quickly or would i have to send it back to ASUS since it has been about 6 months since i purchased it?
Can you access to the bootloader ?
I can't actually see the screen so i guess no
Have you tried pressing the power button for longer than a minute?
If that doesn't work you may need to RMA to Asus.

I think you have to take the back off for that. I am not sure though. Maybe someone that has taken their nexus apart can chime in.

hi. i want to root my nexus but the usb port of the device doesn't work anymore after i tripped over the usb cable while it was charging. now the device isn't recognized by windows(and mac too), so i can't connect it to my pc. is there a way to root the device wirelessly?
If you have WIFI, then you can download any number of utilities designed to do this. There's even one that allows you to do adb over wifi.
Google is your friend.

By Googling "root without usb" here are some of the results. Please note that I haven't vetted any of them for malware, etc. So, be careful:

What exactly was wrong with the great answer to your question in the post above yours? All three links provided you in that post are viable options. You have a unique problem, if you don't want to do any reading, learning, or work to solve it, good luck, your tab isn't going to root itself. Your best option is to just repair the USB port yourself with replacement OEM parts. I've done it myself on a couple devices, not that hard.

none of the links worked. quickdraw86 the couple devices you repaired were n7 2013? bc there's a big chance to crack the back cover.

Ah. That makes sense. I replaced USB ports on falcon, toro, and n7 2013, yeah. You're right about the back cover, just need to be careful, and, besides that, i didn't care about cracking the cover at that point, my tab was almost unusable without USB port working. EBay has some decent deals on parts, I have a "cadaver" flo at home I can salvage from if need be for repair purposes.
i thought about replacing the usb port, but my n7 is in mint condition and didn't want to crack the back cover. alligator_asl you the man! thanks everyone for your help.
