[Q] Can't update PRL, Profile, or Sammy Software - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

I was deleting some system apps and know I can't update the PRL, Firmware, Profile, Sammy Software. Does anyone know what I could have deleted? I meant to add .bak to the file but obviously didn't do that. I'm Stock and rooted with some custom tweaks and add-ons. Any feedback is great appreciated.

you can't update firmware rooted anyway, but why don't you just flash your stock rom. it will restore every system app

Probably SprintDM

Yeah I don't have that one anymore, Thanks I'll put it back and see if that helps.
EDIT: With that apk back, I can now check for Samsung Software updates.
EDIT2: Added the Sprint_Installer.apk, SprintAndroidExtension.apk, and SprintSyncMLSvc.apk to restore the lost functions. Thanks for all the help guys, next time I'll won't be so delete happy.

[Q] My Tmo Defy Can not Update

I recently got so many notifications about 3.6.360 update for U.S. Tmo Defy on my phone. I've tried to download and update. Nevertheless, the phone can't be updated because I replaced some files of swype before. Although it failed every time, the notification just pop out again and again.
So is there any way I can update it? or stop the notification from coming out again?!
Thanks buddies
May the search be with you next time; but yes, rename BlurUpdate.apk.
Or if you really want to update it, there is a stock T-Mobile nandroid backup in one of the forums here. I went that route, restored the bloatware I'd deleted, downloaded and installed the update, re-rooted, made my own nandroid backup, then deleted the bloatware again.

I've seen people mention using titanium backup to freeze the device manager or updater app. Something to that effect.

thanks but i don't have a clue what that means.
i installed Kies on my pc to try and find the download and "push" it through with Odin, but Kies tells me my firmware is good.
i have NO idea where to dl the newest OTA from T-Mobile and then i'd have NO idea how to push it with Odin.
help, someone????
Titanium backup is an app from the market. With it you can uninstall system apps, or simply "freeze" them, meaning they are still there but no longer allowed to run.
"Device management" is the system app that's notifying you of the available ota update.
So, to answer your original question, download titanium backup and use it to freeze device management in order to get rid of the ota notification.
All this assumes of course that you are rooted and running a custom ROM. If you aren't on a custom ROM, then I wouldn't understand your wanting to avoid the update, as it appears it doesn't affect your ability to root, and may not even unroot your device.

Will anything else be affected if you freeze that app?

I've had mine frozen for a couple days to avoid getting that notification, and haven't experienced any fc's or other problems.

i wasn't trying to avoid it, i was originally trying to install it, but Clockwork wouldn't let me; a couple people in here tried to offer 'halfway' help, but stopped answering my questions, so i mainly just wanted to get rid of the nag, since the mod i flashed got me to 2.3.6 anyway.
turns out that Perfect Backup let me clear the Device Mgmt data, and that got rid of the nag. so i didn't have to pay for Titanium Backup (can't freeze stuff unless you pay for it).
so the resolution is that once i'd flashed to 2.3.6 the OTA was just in some kind of cache, i guess, and all i had to do was clear it.

i just went through the exact same problem. go get Deodexed KL1 (i think it's a stock ROM) and it'll do what the new update is going to do, flash you to 2.3.6.
flash the modem, too, with Odin (KL1 modem) and then find your Device Management 10.* and Clear the Data using Perfect Backup (free).
i was unable to get rid of that nag/notification until i did that.
there may be other ways of Clearing the Data for Device Mgmt - maybe in App Manager. In any case, when i cleared the data the nag was gone.

Flash Mr X's deodexed stock rom. the rom your device downloaded is designed to work with your phones stock recovery and not with clockwork mod. X's rom works with CWM.

Thanks guys. I should have waited for the hint. I ended up resetting the rom and it fixed the nag. So clearing the cache would probably fix it too and save me a lot of reloading of apps and settings.
[Q] Stop OTA for Samsung GS 2 on T-Mobile
Hello!
My wife has a rooted GS 2 with the stock ROM from TMO. I am concerned that the new OTA (T989VUVKL1)might break her root functionality, cause repeated update notification, or cause her phone to no longer work. Does anyone know the app or file I need to freeze or delete to stop the OTA from happening? At this point she is also getting the notification to update (eek!) At some point I will want to upgrade the ROM to the newest one assuming I can keep root access. Thank you for all your help and support!
Freeze device manager.

Here's how I fixed it. Use a root explorer. Navigate to system/app and delete / backup both wssysync files. Reboot . Problem solved

[REQUEST] Assistance with IMS App

So after rooting I deleted IMS app and now my phone is acting crazy and my social hub force closes all the time. So I downloaded two different stock dumps and moved apk file to system/app and restarted the phone but it still doesn't show the app. I even tried to install it directly but no luck. What should I do?
Does build number makes a different when you pull an apk from the system dump?

Easiest thing to do is factory reset, then just reroot it ...
Save time and re flash the room.

I don't want to reset or reflash since I spent hours customizing this thing. I guess I would just live with it for few couple months and hopefully Sammy would release official ICS for tmobile version of s2.
Thanks for the quick response guys.
Build number does make a difference when pushing the apk back. If you have 2.3.6, download the odex stock version from mikeyinid and extract it from there..

You don't need to wipe to reflash. Just reflash and it'll replace any missing files

I reflashed a different rom and it reinstalled all missing apps on top of that. Thanks guys

no never backed up wish i did now ill read up on what you said and try that cheers
has any one got a uk gernetic stock link
Though the question in this thread itself has been asked over a million times I guess, may I also ask our masters one question:
So I used Titanium Backup Pro to Integrate Update into ROM of some system apps. Will I have to restore all the original apps in their original version to have a successful OTA update?
PS, I backed up the entire system/apps folder, so no problem with that. Also, I don't have problems with setting the permissions back with Root Explorer.
Thanks in advance!

[Q] Missing Files on Nandroid 4.1.1 Backup

Hey everyone,
So like many users on this forum, I was a moron and decided to try out the 4.3 update which upgraded my baseband to I747UCUEMJB. Realizing my mistake and not particularly happy with 4.3, I remembered I had made a nandroid backup from 4.1.1 on an extSD. Everything went smoothly as usual when I restored from the Nandroid backup.
My problem now is prior to making the backup, I tinkered with the rom using TiBu to eliminate bloatware. Now my camera isn't working and I can't Odin back to a stock 4.1.1 build because the baseband's don't match.
Am I screwed or can someone provide me an alternative? I have the 4.3 update still which I can flash so if that's my alternative that's what I'll have to do.
Did you delete the apps with tibu or just freeze them? I personally never delete bloat I only freeze it. In case I have problems like yours.
If you deleted them I would flash a 4.3 rom to get back to where you have a useable phone.

Thank you for your response. It confirmed what I already kind of knew but I figured I'd ask in case someone knew something I didn't.
