I can see my 64g sd card and I can transfer files from it to my phone's internal memory and vice versa but when I download a file or back up my apps with titanium backup or back up my Rom it goes to my internal hard drive. I have rom manager and titanium back up set up for my sd card but it still goes to the internal memory.
Because of this my phone memory fills up and I get a message saying I'm running out out memory. I have a Samsung 64g sd card and its fat 32 formatted. Does any one know how I can fix this?

For Titanium Backup - go to preferences and make sure your backup directory is /storage/extSdCard/{whatever_directory_you want}
For Downloaded files - make sure whatever browser you use downloads by default to a folder within /storage/extSdCard/
Remember, /sdcard/ and /storage/sdcard0/ are both pointing to internal memory, NOT the memory card slot.

I have titanium backup set up to save to ExSd card, rom manager is set up to save to external memory but they both still save to the phone's internal memory. I use Google chrome and I went to setting but I don't see where it gives an option where to download to.
I also have k9 mail and I have it also set for sd card but it also saves to the phone memory. I guess what I'm saying is that it saves to the phone memory by default, what am I doing wrong

Hi!
I was looking after this issue since my holidays. My Glide just uninstalls random applications that are on SD card (external_SD) after reboot. The replication is 8 out of 10. I had almost 30 apps on the SD card (mostly games).
What I did:
-restart the launcher
-wipe/factory reset
-change microSD cards
-reformat microSD card
How can I tell apps are uninstalled?
-checked Market
-checked TiBu (Backup/restore > Uninst. filter)
As I said, different apps are uninstalled every reboot. If I again reboot my device, the app(s) previously removed will be installed and another app(s) is removed.
Temporarily, my apps are transferred on my Internal storage (2gb) and so far, no issues. This quite puzzles me for I did not encounter any issues using my microSDs in file transfers, media and etc except for this one.
May you have similar issues and have solutions for them, please share and it will be greatly appreciated.
I posted this in the subforum for this only happened on my Glide (did not see in my Captivate and Infuse with same micrSDs). If you see this as inappropriate, please leave me a message or reply, or simply report my post.
Thanks
Correct me if I am wrong but apps moved to SD actually install to the 4gb USB storage in the unit (/sdcard). Nothing goes to the external SD (/sdcard/external_sd) unless manually moved there. If you want to install a program to the SD you have to use root utilities.
Doesn't help you with your issue but you should be able to completely remove the SD card and see if you continue to have the problem.
I haven't noticed this on my wife Glide but it does happen on my Skyrocket.

No your wrong when you hit the button move to SD Card it actually goes to the MicroSD card. I tried hitting that button without a Microsd card and I get an error it says not External card detected or something like that. When I installed my MicroSD card it moved the apps to it.

You are correct. Good to know. I verified that I have a few apps moved to SD and they do not work when the SD is removed.
However, I can not replicate the OPs original issue. I put the SD back in and the apps are launchable again. All apps remain after reboot. When the SD was swapped was it with a different brand/model. I am using an 8gb Sandisk.
I could not replic

That's weird because I was able to move to SD without inserting a Micro SD card and when I move to SD, it moves them to the internal USB storage instead of the Micro SD card.

responses are greatly appreciated....I also tried moving two apps on SDcard after transferring them to the internal (2GB) storage. my glide automatically removed one of them after reboot. Well it's not a concern until i ended up running out of space on my internal
I noticed this as well on some apps I just reinstalled them on the internal and will not transfer them to the SD I again. I guess some programs don't want to be transferred to SD.

I have the exact same phone, I think you are confused. Move to SD never moves to external SD. Why else would apps like 'Apps2SD' exist then?
Apps2Sd allows you to map certain folders that are hard coded to the sd internal. For example game loft games install on the internal applicaton 2 gig partition a small installer and then Download extra content on the internal sd card. Apps2Sd allows you to map the game directory from the internal sd to your micro sd card. Similar in linux with a sym link. The Move to Sd from the Os (gingerbread). Allows you to alleviate some room from your 2 gig applications partition and move apps to the Microsd card.

Could it be that whether it move to internal or external SD depends on the app? None of my apps have been moved to the external microSD yet. Maybe it is because I have extra space on my internal microSD? Also when I go to Manage Apps > On SD Card, it shows the space used and remaining on the internal SD(USB storage).

if you are rooted, look for a folder named .android.secure on your Glide's hard drives. That folder contains apps that are moved to SD card. I see mine on /sdcard/external_sd/.android.secure
Hi, even if this thread is an old one, the same issue happened to my phone:
I can't use the internal memory to move apps because they are uninstalled every time the phone is rebooted. What is the clue?

there is an app called "APP BACKUP AND RESTORE". Download this app on your old phone. Open the app and transfer all desired app onto your SD card. Next, install the same app on your new phone. there is and option to restore all apps from SD card to your new phone. I've done this and it took about 10-15 minutes (depending on how many apps you are trying to transfer). HOPE THIS HELPS

The newer Samsungs are different in how they handle the SD card. They have their 2 GB internal memory, and therefore see the 16 GB internal memory mistakenly as the "SD card". Your actual SD card is mounted as a different partition altogether.
Someone help me out with this, but I don't think the standard App2SD will work because of this design. Somewhere out there is a mod that allows you to fake swap your internal memory with your SD card, but I've never tried it. I don't run a lot of huge applications so I haven't run into the issue, just seen it around.
Hopefully some searching will help with what I mentioned above or someone else can chime in with more experience.
I cannot mount my internal phone storage to my PC. I've tried multiple PC's and after taking it to Sprint have determined that I need a phone replacement. I've created a Nandroid to my external SD card but want to be able to save the rest of the contents of the internal SD card. Is there any easy way to do this without a PC? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

Yeah that's the only way I know but was thinking maybe someone on XDA knows an easier way. Uploading 4GB to Dropbox would take an eternity.
copy and paste
I’ve used AntTek to copy all my folder except "external_sd" which is your micro SD and copied into the "external_sd" folder. Create a folder in your external_sd folder called InternalSD and paste into there to keep files separated because there are similar folder in each as is Clockwork.

My Suggestion
First, download and install the free app, X-plore, from the market place and go to the configure/setup page and - only if rooted already - show hidden and give yourself root access, and then transfer files to external SD. Once done, set up a Box.com on from an iDevice - that way you get 10GB free versus the typically 5GB of everywhere else - and then download, install and register that account on your Android and then upload to via the program. If Wifi is too slow for you, look into Android Reverse Tethering. If done right, it shouldn't take you too long.
Or just grab a Class 1 64GB SDHC/SDXC - or whatever it is - and just back everything to it, and then use a program like Directory Bind or Lucky Patcher to bind those directories to the internal of the same device or whatever device you plan to move to, that way you never have to worry about transferring all that information back. Just a thought. :fingers-crossed:
You don't even need to download anything. You can copy and paste from internal to external with the regular stock my files app. Just make sure you go to settings and select site hidden files to get every file..

Yes you can flash from internal sd card. Same procedure as if flashing from ext sd card.

Hi there. You would in cwm touch choose install zip from internal instead of install zip from external sd card option. Cwm touch is pretty straight forward. Follow the choices. Also make sure you do your nandroid backup before flashing anything. You would want to save that backup to your external sd card when you get it to save device memory. A few backups on internal storage will eat up ALL your internal storage space on the phone so sd card is important to have. If your using cwm you MUST in settings specify for backups to go to EXTERNAL sd card other wise by default they go to internal storage.word of warning this will quickly use all your device storage so make certain once you get your sd to fix the settings so it will go by default to EXTERNAL sd card rather than internal device storage. Hope this helps you out. Best wishes

OK, mine is working fine, try this...
From preferences, select Backup Folder Location, hit the back arrow twice until you get a listing of folders; "emulated", "sdcard0" and "sdcard1" (this is your external SD), select "sdcard1" then create new folder, create the new TitaniumBackup folder and you should be good.

The only time I saw this was when I could not write to the external SDCard, once I fixed that mine is showing correctly. If you can write to your external SD, you may have another issue.

TB is the same for my G Pad with a Samsung 64GB card. Sure you can specify the external card as a backup location, but presumably TB can't automatically identify it as the external card. I imagine TB needs an update for the G Pad memory architecture (path naming).

I do not move apps to the SD card. I have no need or reason to. My TB overview screen does not show the external card. Those things do not prevent me writing to the card - it is writeable. Maybe I do not understand the problem. For me there is no problem.
EDIT - OK, now I think I understand - TB does not see the external card so it cannot report on its status and cannot move apps to it. In all other respects the card works as one would expect. As I said in my first post, it seems like TB needs updating in order to discover the card as mounted by the G Pad. Either that or use some sort of folder mount app to mount the external card where TB can find it.

Thanks for the info. I had a feeling it was LG's ROM
I've been looking more deeply into this, but I don't have the skills to come up with a solution. However, I have a feeling the problem stems from Android itself and while some manufacturers may have implemented their own workarounds it seems that LG has not. Here is an article which outlines the basis of the problem (if I am right).

I've also been using TB repeatedly to back up and restore Injustice Gods Among Us on my SD card (30 times a day) with no problems.

The problem has nothing to do with backups and restores. It is the inability to move apps to the external SD card. TB gives no clues to the problem - no helpful messages - but other app2sd type apps complain about the way storage is arranged, saying that external storage is emulated. Clearly that is nonsense, because the external SD card it's a very real physical storage device, but I think that multi user support has screwed thing up, as per the article I linked to earlier.
FWIW I have managed to get TB to show the external card on the overview screen by creating a folder in /mnt and using foldermount to point the folder to the external card, but it does not survive a reboot and does not overcome the problem with moving apps to external storage. Maybe foldermount could be used to move large data folders to the external card for apps such as offline navigation or games, which should free up some space from the internal storage. As I have no need to do that (yet) I have not tried.
