[Q] Pressing power to keep phone on - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

I'm having this problem where my s3 will turn off by itself unless I keep pressing the power button continuously. I have searched the forums and found nothing. I flashed back to stock rom but that did not help...

It's a hardware problem.

[Q] Cant access bootloader on leedroid 3.0.5

Hey all,
I am running leedroid 3.0.5 on a HTC Desire and I want to install another ROM. I went to run bootloader by turning the phone off, holding down the lower volume button while hitting the power button. The phone is just restarting but in a quicker than normal mode. I have tried this a few times and it is still the same. I tried also hitting the power button and then holding down the lower volume button - this just brought up the HTC logo and the device was delayed for several minutes.
Can anyone tell me what is going on or what I can do?
How to explore each menu in the settings after u install a new rom?
Settings/applications/disable fast boot

Hey. Anyone else have any idea's? I turned off the setting as you suggested but it is still not working.
Takea out the battery. Wait few secs. Put back. Hold POWER + VOL DOWN.
Pull battery and try again. If it doesn't work then it may be that your volume button is acting up. If that is the case, pull battery and press power while holding down the back button. This will bring you to fastboot menu. From there select the first option to enter bootloader.

Thanks guys. I got it working by pressing the back button instead of the volume down button.

[Q] Phone possibly hard bricked, need help

So I'm running CM 10.2 android version 4.3 and I started to notice that when I pressed the power button, it brought up the reboot menu instead putting my screen to sleep so I downloaded the newest nightly and figured it was probably just a bug and went to flash the latest nightly. Upon reboot, my phone got in an infinite bootloop so I pulled the battery, let it sit for a minute and then held the power, volume up and menu button to enter recovery. I got the blue words in corner that you will normally see when booting into recovery, then saw the S3 screen that you'll see right before entering recovery, however, my phone started rebooting again constantly vibrating etc. So then I decided to try and get into download and flash back to stock with Odin. So I entered download mode, pressed volume up on the confirm screen and then it entered download mode and then immediately rebooted and wouldn't stop. Is my phone bricked? I'm wondering if the power button is broken since when in download mode, it reboots which normally occurs when you hold the power button in download mode. Sorry for the long description but just wanted you guys to know what I've done so far and am experiencing. Any help is appreciated. I've been rooting phones from all manufacturers for years now and I'm out of ideas at this point. Thanks!
Definition of a bricked phone: A completely unresponsive device which doesn't turn on at all. Doesn't vibrate upon start up and doesn't have any signs of life.
You most likely have a jammed power button as that has been the issue with the GS3. Not a brick.
Clearly not bricked as the first reply explained. And for the love of god, please use some white space (paragraphs) next time.
If you think that a button is jammed, see if you can physically unjam it without causing damage. If you believe that the flash may be messed up, the mskip's Samsung Toolkit may be able to reflash a known good ROM even with a stuck button. And look into some of the button remapping apps like the aptly titled Fix Broken Power Button app.
Good luck.

[Q] Is my phone bricked and if so what can I do about it?

Hello everyone,
So I have my about a year old sgh-i710 and I've been running the pacman rom on it, anyway, for the last few months it would just randomly reset, and now it won't even turn on unless I repeatedly press the power button, which only puts the phone in "safe mode" normal mode. I cannot get ito recovery or download and the second I stop pressing the power it shuts off; additionally, the phone thinks it has 0% battery although the hardware light says it's fully charged. Is this a brick? And if so, what can I do about it? Thanks in advance.
Do a quick search for 'power button failure' and see how this compares.

So the way I fixed this was, I repeatedly hit the power button while forcing the phone into download mode, then reflashing twrp and then reflashing a recovery from an older stable back up. While in twrp, I also had to repeatedly press the power button. Also, I cannot use my previous battery and am now using an extended battery. With all this my phone has been restored to its previously working state.
Thanks to anyone who has posted in here.

[Q] A bootloop without the possibility of getting to download mode?!?

I am not a total noob. I have always done my research and I am well versed with the procedures but this has me stumped. About six months before I had installed Omega ROM (told you i wasn't a noob) and things were fine and dandy. I was running today and bam! my phone just enters into a bootloop (lost my data on endomondo too). But hey! I am an expert right? or so i think to myself and I try getting into the recovery mode / download mode. I press the volume down, power and home button. The warning comes up and all that i have to do now is to press the volume up key right? wrong!! Inspite of pressing the volume up key the bootloop continues. I dont know what i am doing wrong. I am sure it is a really silly thing but i am not able to figure it out myself. I read the posts and all of them deal with other issues. Can someone help me?
Can someone check this up for me? Switch off your phone and try going into the recovery mode by pressing only the vol. down button and the home button pressed together. If it does not show the warning screen prior to the recovery mode then it would mean that my power button is malfunctioning. It would take just two minutes of your time. Please post your results here. Please.
If you press just the volume down and home button not a lot happens not the warning screen anyway. When I boot into recovery I have to wait for the Samsung logo to appear twice or it just reboots. Might be worth pressing all 3 buttons and wait for the 3rd restart before letting go
Edit
It's volume up home and power for recovery if you get download mode and volume up the phone just reboots hence why you go back to bootloop

The problem is solved. It turned out that it was not a boot loop after all. The power button got pressed and was stuck in that state thus causing repeated reboots. It was by pressing the volume down and home button without pressing the power button that i figured out that the power button was stuck. So i took out the screws and adjusted the band slightly and now alls well.
