Make sure your tablet is tourned off. IT seems that your battery died. So let it some time on a wall charger with the fastboot cable plugt in.

USB Devices not working on 4.0.2

I just updated to 4.0.2 but USB devices (mouse) are not powering up when I plug them in and do nothing. I'm using a female to make USB cable I bought from Expansys.
Where they working for you before the update?
Hadn't tried it before the update since USB host was not officially supported.
Can anyone help with this?
I tested an optical Mouse und supprise it works. But a USB Memory Stick is still not accessible. Does somebody know how to get the stick running?

Are you sure you bought an OTG cable? A simple male to female adapter wont work because it is missing the grounded ID pin on the phones (=host) side. Without that pin the phone won't know it has to act as host and power the attached device.
I the USB Host cable from a SGS2. This seems to work, because the optical mouse works fine.
I'm just waiting for the drivers to connect Memory sticks or HDDs.

I bought this cable when I ordered my Nexus form expansys, it doesn't mention if it's OTG or not but it was cheap so I figured why not..
So if my Nexus cannot provide power to connected peripherals does this mean my cable us not OTG?
I have an OEM OTG from Motorola I use for my Xoom and Nikon D7K and it does not work on the Galaxy Nexus, I am on 4.01 on the Nexus

I believe 4.0.1 doesn't support OTG, update to 4.0.2 and give it a try

XBOX controller is not supported by android last I checked. The PS3 controller is how ever, can can plug and play directly or use an app to use it wirelessly. That app also allows you to make custom set ups for games with out controller support to mimic touch input. I've not experimented much with it though.

Download the app "USB/BT JoystickCenter" from the Play Store. I managed to get my wired xbox360 controller to work by using a usb adapter and then running this app to setup/configure the controller. It's a little tricky but I can tell you it does work.
If you're using an official Microsoft wireless controller with the usb charging cable, the controller doesn't communicate over the usb cord - it gets power only, while still connecting to the Xbox wirelessly

[Q] Red Cross on Battery after Rooting - NOT Charging

Hey,
I just rooted my P601, and I got it working & everything's working fine, but since the rooting there is a red cross on the battery icon while connected to my laptop, it's connected to my laptop and recognized; BUT it WON'T CHARGE! It will charge with wall charger though. I tried different cables, and different laptops, but it seems that the problem is my tablet.
Can anyone help me?!
Thanks in Advance
@reza_1661 theres nothing wrong with your tablet, when I connect my tablet (not rooted and stock firmware) to my laptop the same thing happens as its connected as a media device to tranfer data between the two.

Thanks for your answer @Geordie Affy;
I thought it should be possible to charge it with laptop like all other devices such as my mobile phones ... ! So, there is no way to charge it with laptop? I haven't done something wrong?
No you have not done anything wrong. A usb port can put like 500mAh so it would need like 16 hours to charge your device.

that also happens to me but when i have my tablet connected to a wall socket, to solve the problem i have to disconnect and connect several times for it to go back to normal

maybe it is the "same" cable even with different ones... just for data transfer and not for charging the device...
found a fix
Hi, I have the same issue since 4 months ago, it was already rooted, so I change the usb flex with other new and did not worked, the red cross always appears and it couldn't connect to the pc but the hdmi works fine, so I opened the note and in the place that the flex connect to the motherboar there is a kind of clip, when I presed that clip it charge normal and the pc recognize it so I left there a little piece of paper to make continously presure and woks fine now

You might be able to charge your tablet on your laptop if you power it off (the tablet)
Yes, Tilagoon is correct. The red x means you're charging at super slow speed and you have to have the screen off.(don't use it while charging with PC USB)

will not charge in the car...

Hi,
I have a strange issue. But i do not find a solution now:
I have an integrated smartphone holder in the car - but it did not charge my xperia z1 compact. Cable and every thing is fine, other smart phones are charged well. Even in the usb plug in in the center console I can charge it (of course with a ugly cable in the car) but it dit not charge in the integrated smart phone holder, which seams to have a normal micro usb plug.
What is different with usb charging an the Z1 compact. In the compatibily list for the smartphone holder the xperia is not mentioned - so there should be a know "abnormal" behaviour with this?
I tried micro USB cable with 4 and 5 pins, but it is not charging.
I detached the data- and data+cables so only ground an power was applied - but no charging.
Does any one now a solution or an explanation?
Thanks a lot.
Nicolas
Have found the answer in the nexus 7 forum.... Just connect the data with each other on the male side of the cable.
Thanks
Nicolas

Are you using the power supply that came with the Stick?
A lot of TV USB-Ports do not have enough power. You can try a different 5V USB power supply that has the same or more amperage than the original Amazon. Possible that the Amazon one is broken somehow.
Try running some benchmark on the stick and see if it also reboots.
Yes, I use the original power supply, today I going to try with a charger of galaxy note 4, I appreciate your help
