[Q] Need help in custom rom - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Dear Senior Developers,
I am trying most of d custom roms on my Samsung Galaxy nexus GtI9250,
But i am unhappy with the batter backup what i am getting, could you please suggest me any rom or any tricks to get a better battery back up..

What is a battery backup? Do you mean battery use?

Batter can be really sticky sometimes

Turn ur mobile data off when not needed. Background data drains a lot of battery. I almost doubled my battery life whitout using any app or root. A simple trick but works great.

best rom/kernel thread, reported to moderation team
choose your fate, every usage/user is different

There are plenty of guides available online, to help you around with general tips and tricks on battery saving, like turning off mobile data, auto-sync, underclocking, undervolting etc. As for asking the "best" rom and kernel combo, this still falls within the scope of Best rom threads, and these are frowned upon at XDA

Best ROM/kernel combination for battery life

So I've been looking relentlessly for information on how to yield great battery life and for the most part, I've been successful.
However, I want to know what everyone's favorite ROM/kernel combination is in terms of yielding a good standby and screen on time. I got 11h off the charge and 3.6h of screen time.
I'm currently using CM9 with Franco's latest nightly. Dump your setups here. Feel free to include any tips on what you do to save battery life.

it's an impossible question to answer specifically. The lower the frequency/voltage and more conservative the governor, the better life you'll have
There are already many threads discussing this, please refer to one of them instead of creating a new one.

Thoughts? AOKP 37 battery life

Hello this is my first topic that I have posted up, I am aware that there is hundreds of these same type of topics posted up, and I apologize for another one lol.
Just wanted to get thoughts from other members on these results on battery life through AOKP b37(stock kernel that comes with aokp, without touching the CPU settings)
CDMA (with extended battery)
Settings profile:
Basically followed every guide on turning off certain settings to save battery (GPS,wifi use, rotation, vibrate and etc.)
Brightness: 4O Percent
Wifi: 80-90 percent on
Few phone calls
Decent amount of texts
I know that there is a lot Rom/kernel combos and every phone will give different results, but searching through other posts I have noticed that Franco kernel give fantastic performance and battery life to many users and give recommendations to other users to use it.
To me still kinda scratching my head and uncertain if these are decent, bad or good results, and having opinions will help me understand better
PS. Sorry for grammar
Via Galaxy Nexus [LTE]
That's just fine for a CDMA Nexus. It might even be a little better.

[Q] Rom or Kernel

I know alot of people ask which is the best combi, but i dont care about that.
im wondering which one really affects the battery more, the rom or the kernel?
im looking for more battery life and i constantly try many roms and kernels to find the best, but its all very erratic so im wondering which one i should change and look for increase in battery life more
tks

99% of the time it'll be the kernel that changes your battery life (exception being if you're running a poorly written ROM, which is unlikely). Kernels give you the ability to tweak your phone for better performance or better battery or any combination of the two, whereas ROMs more or less just change the user interface. I have gotten pretty good battery life on Tiny's kernel, so you could try that, but you could ask 20 people, and you'll get 20 different answers for the best kernel haha
Yep its said kernel affects battery. My experience over a multitude of android devices says neither have a noticeable effect on battery life. I flash kernels for other reasons, not battery life. I've always gotten similar battery life on stock setup vs any combination of ROM/kernel. Maybe SLIGHTLY less battery if the kernel was geared for performance, but never have I seen a noticeable increase in life.

i am currently on AKs dummy 532 kernel.it gives the best battery life and smoothest ui
Here's a bit more on kernels thanks to MBQsniper

Xenon and Trinity kernel !

Biggest battery draw is going to be the one you didn't mention. Apps. Specifically the ones that run in background syncing data all the time. Try a little experiment by going to your mobile data usage, setting a limit and then disabling background data and auto sync. You'd be surprised how much battery Google now sucks down

i was using AK kernel and my battery was dying in a matter of hours. Ive been using Trinity and I've had great battery life.

Do touch wiz roms have better battery life than AOSP based roms?

Just curious

I run AOSP Rom, SuperNexus, and my battery life is fine. It all depends on how you use your phone, what apps you have, signal strength.
No two phones are alike.
Imo, TW has better battery life. Less bugs, official support =better battery life.

Battery life depends on the user in the end, I've gotten over 24 hours on both. Greenify and DS Battery Saver will help a lot.
I've always had better battery life on TW than I have AOSP.
I run only aosp roms and get 15 to 18hrs especially after lightening zap kernel I have ds battery saver set to aggressive and Greenify (thanks bilgerryan, hadn't heard of it till I saw you post about it a few weeks back), last few days I have had over 3.5hrs screen on, granted I run my screen as dim as it will go. On stock battery

Overall, tw roms have been better for me in regards to battery life. That being said, given the time to let things settle and tweak they both can be great. If you want some suggestions a to what has been the best for me, drop me a pm and I'll name names. I don't want to turn this thread into a fanboy fiasco.

I have to say there is no correct answer. I never got more than 22 hours on a stock rom. One of the AOSP ROMs I flashed netted me 30+ hours. The next flash topped at 9 hours.
I think the battery life on stock ROMs is more consistent. With AOSP you get whatever you get.
Some AOSP roms are really good about battery life. I seriously have two that I like and one gets me about 8-9 hours while the other 14-16 for the same usage. It really, really depends on a lot of factors and I can say for sure, the rom is one of them.

[Q] battery life experience on different rom

lately i have expereiced that aosp battery life is not better
stock rom has way better i had like 11 hours screen time with very little wifi and gps usage
please i have been flashing aosp and tochwiz roms lately and even kernels but iam not able to get required normal attery life
please share ur battery life tips and the rom and kernel ur using with
there should be a general thread about battery life tips what i noticed that note 2 might be the phone with custom roms worse battery life compared to stock
ive used greenify and just use my phone for chrome messages and call
please share good stasts and tips
there should be rom reviews by users about battery and stuff so people can know, its too much time consuming trying every rom and setting it up and in the end replaccing it
please its a request to all users
help other community members thanks
I've been using greenify and rescan media root for a while and I can notice the difference in battery life.

Battery life is normally driven by your kernel. However, chips are mass manufactured and as such are not identical. So what works well for me and my chip may not be brilliant for you.
Imo the only thing you can safely compare, regarding battery life, between two handsets is screen off time. The best I've experienced is 1% drain per hour. to get that I use jedix20 rom with the built in saber kernel.

Yes AOSP has weaker battery life.... just use 4.1.2 ROM for now, and wait for official 4.3

1 % drain with screen on and wifi
thats kinda amazing pls share the link
anyways ok sir i get ur point but atleast an average battery life stats post for everyrom in the market would really help alot
i still have no idea what they mean by great battery life good battery life etc
well my time on desire hd it was quite easy aosp roms had bettery battery then stock rom even and there were was time that it was a small phone would notice battery life in about 5-6 hours
what i wanted to ask was that if yr using aosp pls share ur stats on a dynamic thread with rom detail ive used searches several times but still no avil of info i need people/users should share mare info to the developers to the people so that it would make easy development
well basically what i noticed there are likke 50000 vies and blah blah stuff more then thousands of download and only 5-10 commetns in the bug and review section

Lel I cant force you to use a TW ROM....im just saying that from my experience AOSP has shorter battery life by probably 25% (again, my experience)
I like touchwiz and I use the s pen, so yeah

No that drain is with screen off.
I understand your desire to get a 'league table' of roms/kernels to compare loss etc. However, I've seen people in these threads turn all power sappers off like wifi, mobile etc then leave the screen on on a dark picture just so they can say they've had 2 days of screen on time.
Would that really be real life use and helpful to anyone?
I play asphalt 8 and when I do my battery drains super quick maybe more than 20% an hour. Yet if I'm only Web surfing that 20% would last maybe 5 times longer. So how could you successfully compare that kind of usage?
That's why I think the only real safe comparison is to compare standby time with the screen off. Btw i leave my wifi permanently on.

I'm using PA 3.99 + Plasma 2.02 + DMG1 .
Everything stock.
Frozen apks with titanium : Network location, google backup transport ,fused location , earth ,cell broadcasts , Maps , News weather , Wallet and other apks that i'm not using.
Brightness 25%
Sync 2 gmails , contacts , internet , chrome
facebook
whatsapp
facebook Messenger
g+
and really lot of Apps about 80 in total
Getting about 30 hours + 5 hour screen time + 1 hour Voice calls on 2G
Can get pretty must 24+5hr scr with 3G too
But my main concern is , It does'nt handles the Radio very well , While Signal fluctuates or I'm on the move, battery drain is heavy , When i'm in good reception area without much movement then it does well. I don't know why. Sammy handles this much much better may'be the issue is with Radio/sensors/GPS drivers.
