I need to send my phone back for repairs and obviously if my system shows it's been rooted it would be rejected.
So I ran Triangle away and it reset the counter to 0. then I used KIES to do a wipe and restore it back to factory settings. Afterwards I did a data wipe and cache wipe in recovery mode just to be sure. However ODIN mode still shows the system status as custom.
how can I get that to revert back to Official? I thought KIES would automatically set that back to official since I am technically using the official samsung firmware no?

What does the device status say on your phone?
I'd try it again and follow all the steps again. Mine worked when I did it so it might a step out of order

Hi,
This is my first attempt at flashing ROMs. Any ROM I try gets stuck at boot animation. Only way for me to get out of it is to boot phone into download . Go into TWRP and do system reboot backup restore. I am currently stock VALHU2 rooted. I downloaded Goomanager /TWRP recovery as flash source. I went into browse compatible ROMs and selected the most current CM9 zip and downloaded. After, I went into flash ROMs ,Order & Flash selected. I then checked Wipe cache/dalvik cache partition, checked create backup, but did not check reset factory settings. Is not checking restet factory settings where I am going wrong.Thank you in advace for any input.

You shouldn't need to reset factory defaults. However, I Odin'd UVALH2 Last night and the phone refused to get past the Samsung screen until I did a factory reset.

How did you do a factory reset?
Yes, you do need to do a complete wipe/factory reset when going from Touchwiz to CM9.

Thought so. Thank you.
Hey man you flashing a ROM through Odin or recovery?
Rooted my Note 2 but decided to go back to stock rom. I ran Triangle away before I unrooted, message came up saying counter would stay at one.
So I unrooted, flashed, via odin, a stock Rom.......
Now when i go to software update I get a message...Your device has been modified software updates are not available..
So how can I solve this?
Thanks

My system status is Custom, I'm guessing that's why.
How do I get this back to default?
I already flashed with an official Rom - jroo3c.n7100xxalj1
Anyone help?
Ok folks, what I need to know is ....
how to get the device status and binary both back to Official?
Surely someone can help with that?

OK. I read it again & have already flashed a stock rom but my SYSTEM STATUS is still custom.
That's weird! I'll say you root again, use Triangle Away (Play Store version) to reset counter and then Flash stock rom back, then wipe cache.

Tried all that till I'm blue in the face but system status is still saying Custom
Damn! Take a Nandroid backup (or any method you like) and do a full wipe.

Ya know, I must have wiped my note over 20 times today & it's still the same...But thanks anyhow
Flash CF Auto root first. Use Triangle Away. Then do a full wipe.
Your initial post mentions your counter would be set at 1?
Why would Triangle Away say your counter would stay at 1?
It should be reset to zero in the end.
Go into download mode and check that
Custom Binary Download = No.
Otherwise you didn't use Triangle Away properly.
Once you're sure it's on No.
Flash via Odin your stock firmware.
Let it boot up, and if you go into download mode again,
Then it should read:
Custom Binary Download = No.
Current Binary = Samsung Official
System Status = Custom
Let it boot up, then go into recovery mode, and wipe data, and wipe cache.
Then after all the wipes, it should become normal again.
My suspicions are that you did not reset the counter properly.

Well I'm still no nearer solving this problem....
When I ran Triangle away the message came up about the counter still reading 1 after running it, no idea why I didn't write the program.
I have not my counter to 0.
I have done all this -
Once you're sure it's on No.
Flash via Odin your stock firmware.
Let it boot up, and if you go into download mode again,
Then it should read:
Custom Binary Download = No.
Current Binary = Samsung Official
System Status = Custom<<<<<<<<<I Want that to be back to default NOT Custom
Let it boot up, then go into recovery mode, and wipe data, and wipe cache.
Then after all the wipes, it should become normal again.
I did all that, must be 10 -15 times already
Why is this still System Status = Custom
All I want is for it to be back to how it was when I first boot the phone out of the box.
Tell us the steps you were taking when using TA.
You must be rooted to use TA.
Root your phone again and use TA again.

This....
Flash Stock ROM (Odin 3.07)
Root with Stock Recovery - CF auto Root from Chainfire (Odin 3.07)
Use Triangle Away
Let it reboot!
Shut down
Enter Recovery
Wipe Cache - Wipe Data/Factory reset - Wipe Cache - Wipe Data/Factory reset - Wipe Cache (I suppose that is one too many but it worked for me that way)
Reboot - you have to reboot. If you donĀ“t the system status will be custom.
Didn't work for me
The only way to have Stock everything is if you flash back to a stock rom AFTER using triangle away. From what you've done, you're still rooted. That's what is causing it.
Do this.
If your counter is not reset to 0:
Gain root access by using the cwm + root,
Use triangle away and choose reset counter by tapping the very last option.
It will reboot. Then go to download mode and flash stock rom. It will reboot. Then go into stock recovery and clear data and cache, and reboot.
If your counter is already reset,
Flash the stock rom, let it reboot. Go into stock recovery and wipe data and cache, and reboot.
This way, you're unrooted and you're back on stock rom.

On Triangle Away, when you click on reset counter, the device will boot and you need to press the Volume UP button to reset counter. Are you sure you did that?

Is my phone still rooted? I resetted the flash counter with triangle away and den use the stock firmware via odin to recover my phone now when i use apps like adaway it says my phone is not rooted.Help with the software update problem

If you`re counter is reset to 0 with Triangle Away, and you flashed a stock rom, you have to do a data/factory reset in settings, backup and restore to reset the status to Normal. If you don`t do that it will say: Staus Modified.
For post 1 and 2, you guys aren't getting the update because the system status is set as Custom, you need to have it as Official to connect successfully to OTA server. To make it official, do these,
1- Use Triangle Away (the paid version in Play Store). This will reset your counter.
2- Now flash a stock ROM via Odin.
3- After flashing, go to recovery, and Wipe data/reset, Wipe cache and Wipe dalvik cache.
4- Use Triangle Away once again.
This should make both the status official and you'll be receiving OTA updates.

If I want to some root-based program, like DirectoryBind, and preserve my game data, installed apps, etc, would the steps be modified as:
1- Use Triangle Away (the paid version in Play Store). This will reset your counter.
2- Now flash a stock ROM via Odin. (or DO nothing if I only rooted the phone before, right?)
2.1 Go to recovery, do a backup
3- After flashing, go to recovery, and Wipe data/reset, Wipe cache and Wipe dalvik cache.
4- Use Triangle Away once again.
This should make both the status official and you'll be receiving OTA updates.
5. Go to recovery, do a restore.
is that correct?
If you ask me, you guys shouldn't worry too much about OTA updates. You can easily update your phone once an update comes out by downloading the rom from www.sammobile.com or other sites and flashing it. Samsung's OTA updates are too rare and too far distant from each other that they don't deserve all this headache. In fact, most updates leak out earlier than they are available through OTA. Just my two cents.
I always thought the purpose of odin was to completely wipe the internal storage back to stock. recovery, rom, data and all. Yet when i odin'ed back to stock-rooted and the rom went back to stock as well as recovery but all my apps were still there. wasnt a problem i just factory reset in stock recovery then downloaded goo manger and FrostyJB.
Did something go wrong for me or is this normal?
Odin only wipe system files. You manually habe to factory reset it inorder to wipe old data.

First Do a Wipe data and Factory Reset and Wipe Cache then re flash stock ROM through Odin. Every thing will be stock then.
