can some one recommend me a an all body tough skin which proved some form of impact protection achieving the same thing as a physical case/cover?
found a couple of stuff here http://www.bodyguardz.com/brands/htc?devices=1978
not sure how they work , anyone used them before?
i dont mind using home diy materials , some adhesive tapes or materials to achieve it .. anyone knows of any tape or duct tape kind which will have full transparency?
Any skin you find isn't going to provide much impact protection form drops. They are designed to protect against scuffs and scratching. Drop drop protection you'll need a case. But as far as some good skins go... Zagg, Skinomi, Ghost Armor, Body Gaurdz are all good brands. Then only problem with them or at least the zagg from my experience is that the capacitive buttons aren't very sesntive and sometimes don't work under these thicker protectors.

Hi guys,
I know this is a silly question but I think its warranted
Coming from a range of IPhone devices I've always used silicon cover that rims around the glass so if it fell out of my pocket screen side down the glass would not crack. Most of my if not of my drops have been from the waist down so hopefully ill continue on that trend and maybe I can escape using a bulky cover.
Now I've just put a gel cover on my note and can't help but feel it adds a lot of volume to a pretty big phone already!!!!
Ideally I want the following but unsure if it will satisfy needs
*Thickish screen protector that will help avoid glass cracking.
*Skin around the boarder if the phone to avoid scratching ( when I do drop it just order replacement skins )
*Rear battery cover is replaceable so not too worried about that but maybe need a skin to cover the camera glass from scratches.
What do u think guys would this be possible and is there any screen protectors / skins out their you would recommend?
Thanks all
a good screen protector will hold your glass in place after its shattered, but wont stop it from shattering.
most screen protectors do not cover the whole screen, they leave the edges exposed. when you drop your phone, its 90% likely to land on a corner first, so you'd need to reinforce the corners to minimise vibrations and the resultant damage in the case of a drop.
the only cases i know of that do this well are the ballistic cases. i had a ballistic shell gel and ballistic hardcore case on my old motorola atrix, i accidentally dropped it from my roof when i was fixing my antenna. no cracks on the screen, no scratches on the device itself. not bad for an 8m drop. sadly ballistic havent released any cases for the note.
Dam thanks ur right the edge needs protection.
Sometimes I think a rubber band would be good enough!! If only someone made a thin silicon band that just edged around the screen and steel frame that would be good enough for me.

I've had ballistic on my last 3 phone and they where amazing. The rubber "balls" in the corners saved my phones numerous times. Never had 1mm of damage. I really hope they do come out with something for the Note. I would be more than fine with the extra bulk knowing it's that protected.
Hi, few days ago I was happy Z3c owner. Phone is great but it's one of the most fragile phones on market so I'm looking for a case.
I bough Ringke Fusion but seems also not so protective comparing to cases I had before for older phones like Ballistic or Trident.
So, if You would like to help me choose right. Except one I have (Ringke) I found Cruzerlite - looks nice cause on left side only magnetic port is opened so not so many weak spots but it also like Ringke seems like tuned regular TPU for 2$.
Case Mate from Z1c after adding few cutouts looks promising and people are saying it's best protection case. I also found Incipio Dual Layer case but I heard that rubber part is stretching and I hate it when it does.
There are many other cases on eBay for 2-10$ but I would like not to buy another case like this Ringke which is not best choice for me for it's price.
Cruzerlite Bugdroid.
Bought 14 months ago. Great cover
I use the Case-Mate Barely There clear plastic case (edit: for the z3c, not the modified z1c in the poll). It's hard plastic, not TPU, but I like it because it has a very slim profile.
Thank You, but unlike all I prefer something more "bulky". I used that my phone can hit on the street when I'm running and get out of this without a scratch. Pity that there is no such case for Z3c.
Hama Crystal Case for Z3C, fits perfect(without plastic adapters)
This thread should include the Devilcase. It can take hits to concrete, leaves the USB flap and magnetic port exposed, and adds minimal bulk.
I never saw any crash tests with Devilcase but I don't think those tiny parts of foam or sponge between phone and bumper can absorb damage.
I know it looks great but without it phone also looks great and I think with and without this case screen is as well exposed as without it. If I depend only on scratch protection I would take any 0.3mm transparent case.
Anyway thank You for mention.
The sides of the bumper come up about 2mm,so that with a glass screen protector (that you should get no matter which case you buy) there is still about 1mm separating the protector from the offending surface.
And like I said, I've dropped it multiple times onto concrete to absolutely 0 ill effect. It's not like other slim cases, aluminum behaves much differently than silicone.
I'm working in a repair service center and I saw many iPhones after they hit the ground in a alu bumper and they looks same as phones without any protection. Thats why I conclude that all hard cases and bumpers acts the same in contact with the floor.
Of course I'm using tempered glass but it can help in case of direct impact on the screen but it wont help with pressure formed from the side impact.
Still I'd go for something more flexible cause I'd rather not to test aluminum shock absorption.
I think if I wont find anything decent I will order Cruzerlite and after comparing it with Ringke I'll stay with better one.
It sad there is no really rugged case for Z3c.
You can laugh but after reading some reviews I ordered Devilcase.
I didn't want to argue with you, as we had contradictory personal experience. I won't laugh, you made a good choice.
I once had the original Sony case.
Plus: The magnet that opens the screen when opening the case
Minus: The window that is positioned in a different place than the clock widget. One cannot change the position of this clock widget on the lock screen.
Minus: The book-wise opening which makes the front flap being a hindrance for easy handling
Now I bought a cheap one, opening from the top side:
Plus: Easy handling
Plus: Self installed magnet in the flap for automagic opening of the screen when opening the flap.
Plus: Good protection
I have some pictures.
The Sony Cover pictures are taken with original locked phone.
The other pictures with unlocked Marshmallow and destroyed DRM keyes.
It's easy to see the bad picture quality after unlocking. :crying: :crying:
The best by far is the Case-Mate Tough for the Z3 Compact.
It's dual layered with an inner rubber layer and a solid plastic outer layer.
It has cut outs so you can use it with the official Dock DK48 and leaves the usb and sd card flap accessible.

Do You have or tested one??
I have one and it's awesome. Good grip too.
I skipped this one cause most reviews I found was negative. Mostly because like half of the phone is unprotected.
Only a portion of one side is uncovered, all the corners are protected and even if you dropped it sideways the case sticks out.so the phone isn't touched. Try it out you will see how tough it feels.
Make no mistake, the phone is very safe.
devilcase all the way
I dropped my Z3c several times already, sometimes on a pavement. not even a scratch on the phone itself, Barely There protects it really well.
I tested at least 8 screen protectors claiming case friendly for my s10+ but sadly is not true for the outterbox defender case. Anyone got a outterbox defender case and have a actual confirm working case friendly screen protector?
Zagg will work I believe, my girl has one on hers but shes running the pursuit case.
I have a defender also for mine but no luck so far. Got the whitestone dome glass and it failed.
I'm using a symmetry with the factory applied film no issues. Although I wouldn't recommend this case.

How do you find the case bad? It's rock hard, protects well against bumps and is thin enough to not be a bother. I too like the discreet look. It feels the same as the one I have for my iPhone XS.

That's the problem mate, its rock hard, almost like 1990s American car interior plastics.
It seems the quality of the materials and amount of materials used for the symmetry has somewhat changed since the one I had on my Note 9. That felt slightly more absorbing shock wise and also a little bulkier for better or worse.

i have not found 1 case friendly glass or film that fits the defender case without modification. I had to slowly sand down the hard plastic since the edge was rubbing with the film that it would cause to bubble. Sanded on the bottom of the hard plastic only for a screen protector film i bought off amazon to finally fit perfectly without any corners bubbling. been a week and no bubbles. Also no one would ever notice i sanded so im happy for that.
Hi to all
I have two temperate glass, Nillkin and Akcoo. My question is which one is better for protecting when phone fall?
1. Nillkin is placed by the edges of glass and and there remains a small space between the phone display and the protective glass.
2. Akcoo it adheres to the full width of the display on the phone.
So which one is better and is safe when phone fall?
I use Nilkin hard case and it is almost like a skin on your phone with zero protection. The in hand feel and look is amazing though.
I would suggest Spigen thin fit(slightly better edge protection) instead of Nilkin if you drop your phone rarely.
No idea about Akcoo.

Thx a lof for answering on my question. But im asking about temperate glass (screen protection). And I have Spigen and Ringke case.
One more time thx a lot for your answer. But I hope someone who now more about screen protector will answer to me.
As i mentioned on the Tmobile399 Pixel4 thread
i just scored a Pixel4
and i was looking for decent protection for it, i did not want the military bulk cases, nor the very very thin silicone cover
so i opted for middle ground
i found this Ghostek cases to have decent protection, not to thick, not too slim
just right. i chose the smoke-colored translucent case.
I recommend it if you are a normal user, if you are a construction worker who does roof height work, you will need some more robust protection
but for the normal regular user, the Ghostek will do
Also, i looked on Amazon for a screen protector and found this
one that has hundreds of comments
works great, and also have a mount align guide so you do not have problems aligning it in to the screen
it came with wipes and cleaning cloth and some stickers to remove dust specs
just be awrare, that even that you swipe the protector to remove bubbles inside, you still end up with some
air bubbles like, in fact it was some humidity, it disappeared in a day
and it looks great, like a pro installation
perfect alignment , and not any bubbles on it. they disappear after 24 hours
I recommend it
