I'm not sure what my wife did with her Note 2. Running the most recent t mob OS, just got this phone as a warranty replacement and it worked fine the first 4 days. Now, when she hits her home button it acts like the menu soft key, in apps or inn the home screen. The only thing she has to change these settings is apex launcher, but this problem occurs with the stock launcher as well and changing the settings in apex does nothing. I really don't want to hassle with another replacement, any help here would be appreciated. I did a factory reset even, but no luck with that.
Thanks in advance guys and gals.

If it was a warranty replacement then it was probably a refurbished device. I would contact TMobile about it. I would guess its a hardware issue.
wipe system dalvick cache cache and data then install rom dont forget to backup rom first

This is in regard to the Sprint s2.hopefully this is correct forum. I'm posting this on behalf of my dad, it's his phone. His phone is fully stock and just received the ics update from Sprint. Once he did that, his phone is practically unusable.
First his email would constantly fc. Then GPS went down... though would work in random occurrences. Now just popped up the most bizarre issue. He is suddenly getting errors stating the voltage is too high for charging. The phone is not plugged in. Tried pulling the battery, once back in, the phone goes into off state charging mode and won't power back on without going into recovery. Again, the phone isn't even plugged in, and this is happening with two different batteries.
If it were my phone I'd be calling Sprint getting a new one, but this is his work phone and he's got a lot set up on it. Any ideas?

He will need to call sprint and get a replacement or do a factory reset
Remove your SD card. This done by removing the back of the phone case and pressing the SD card into it’s socket. When you release pressure on the SD card it will pop out and you can remove it.
Hold down the Volume Up and Power buttons simultaneously.
Continue holding the Volume Up and Power buttons until the Samsung Galaxy S II logo screen is displayed.
When the Galaxy S II logo screen is displayed, release the Power button but continue holding the Volume Up button until the Android System Recovery menu is displayed.
Once you are on the Android System Recovery menu, select the wipe data/factory reset option. Moving the selection up and down is done with the Volume Up and Volume Down buttons. Once you have the wipe data/factory reset option highlighted, you select it by touching the Home button.
Once you have chosen the factory reset option, you will see a confirmation screen. Highlight the Yes — delete all user data option and touch the Home button to select it.
The procees of wiping the phone should only take a few seconds and when it is finished, you will be returned to the Android System Recovery menu.
Highlight and select the reboot system now option
You phone will reboot back into normal operating mode (this first boot will take a little longer than usual)
Reinsert your SD and put the back cover in place.
WARNING THIS WILL ERASE ALL DATA
From my understanding of the Samsung ics kernel, that's how people have be hard bricking their phones. Because the eMMC wipe option is still in the code. Its caused by doing a massive wipe in the stock android recovery.

Doing a factory reset could cause a hard brick on these phones? Just to be clear I have a bit of knowledge on the phones, I'm running cm9 on my note, just trying to help him out.

use shubs 1 click odin back to EL29 and then ODIN rooted FF18, be sure to backup and wipe data, wiping data is important, using the factory reset option COULD potentially brick it, as the code that causes emmc bricks is still in the kernel of the OTA

I wasn't saying you didn't know about the brick. I was saying that the ota kernel still has the brick code in it. All good bro

Whoops, no, I should've separated those two statements. I would've never guessed a factory reset could brick. I was just saying I know a bit about phones since my note is similar and I've messed with mine a lot.
He does not want to reset since he has to much saved info, and if I rooted him then he's kinda stuck as well since he doesn't have the time to mess with that stuff. Was hoping there was potentially a simple solution but maybe he'll just have to take it to a store.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda app-developers app
A store would probably be best. They will probably just do a factory reset so backup what you can now.

Is there any chance the phone got wet. Voltage/Micro plug issues in some cases are caused by moisture. If you take it to a corp store rest assured they will tear it down and look at the litmus paper.

I'm experiencing some sort of lag when I try to open my notifications menu. The animation for the system toggles (wifi, gps, bluetooth etc.) Is laggy. I would post a picture of it but cant since its an animation.
You should return it! This phone doesn't lag at all! I have over 100 apps installed!

Do a data factory reset in settings, backup and restore mate. That should fix your issue. Backup important files to the pc first

Do you really think its the device problem or the operating system.?
Also when I first got my note 2 this issue never happened.

Thanks might try that. But copying all those data on my device to my pc will be pain in the ass.

1st of all check that your power saving is off, and try to reset to factory settings, if you have CWM installed try wiping cache and dalvik cache too
My device is not rooted because I don't know how to

My note 2 lags when opening documents and pdf of 100+ pages why is this? Tryed polaris, quickoffice, kingsoft, same on all of them. I'm not rooted or anything just had the device for 2 weeks now
Disable svoice it will help speed things up
To do so open svoice then hit menu and then untick the option for svoice on double tap
It really does make a diffrence

My new Note 2 will not remember default apps. For example, if I install a home screen replacement, every time I hit the home button it asks me to select which to use. Every time I click on a link it asks "Complete action using" with a list off all usable apps. Even when I select always after picking the app. It's done it on 2 different roms. I'm on Jedi-x3.1 atm.
Anybody have any suggestions? It's very annoying.
My first instinct would be to clear cache but I'm new to all this stuff so I may not even be close to right.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using xda app-developers app
I'm thinking it would make more sense to ask in the rom thread if you're not running stock.
Sent from my Inspire 4G
I get that on media files. Modded 7501 rom.
When these ROMs first came out the buttons were reversed. Try hitting the other button. This has been fixed, as far as I know

I am totally stock and I am having the same issue.

Probably not much use to anybody else with this problem but I've managed to make it stop by flashing a different ROM.

Dude first off calm the f down.
You need to explain stuff with more detail and try to make cohesive sentences.
We are here to help mon ami.
Factory reset:
1. Settings>backup and reset scroll to bottom hit factory restore.
2.power off phone hold the power , vol up, and home key. This will take you to recovery. Scroll down to factory reset.
Try option 1 first. Make sure you have "backup my settings to google servers" and those two boxes ticked.
Its a good idea to dl "my backup pro" from play store. This will save you time reinstalling all apps. Do this AFTER you factory reset.
Let me know

My english is bad i will try my best..i install on the play store '' galaxy S4 for All'' i apply all the new setting from this app. Now when i received a call i answer and when the person hang up my phone freeze i see the caller id image and then go black ( the only thing i see is the satus bar on the top of the screen)..Then i have to remove the battery and rebbot the phone every time i receives a call. I,m with Telus Galaxy S3 SGH-i747
Great. Thanks. Now do the factory reset.
I looked over the app and my advice to you is forget about apps like this.
Complete garbage imo, and I cant promise you wont have issues again.
The next best thing to flashing a rom is go launcher ex.
Search go launcher ex, down load it and then use this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2321867
Or the many third party gs4 golauncher themes.
Honestly? Theres nothing like a custom rom to get you as close to the s4 as you possibly can. No "app" can touch the brilliance of our devs. Great time to start learning if you dont already know.

I told you to uninstall the app if it gave you more problems.
Its the app that gives you the problems.
Its not a bug its not the phone its not the ROM.
Its the app
Get rid of it and flash a custom TW ROM if you want your S3 to look like an S4 or go buy an S4

As most others, I love my new G3, but I have one annoying problem. Whenever I set a default app (like home launcher) it keeps forgetting it, and gives me the option every time i press the home button, a link etc. I have cleared cache, wiped, swapped dalvik with ART, wiped again, rebooted and so on, and nothing seems to help. Does anyone have an idea for a possible sollution, or should I just RMA it?
Cheers, Trond.

RMA-ing it won't help as it will be a software issue. But I cannot say I am having the same issue.
If it is only a software issue, it isn't that much of a problem, as I will root and install a custom rom as soon as custom recovery becomes available. As of now, the phone is fully stock, no root, stock launcher etc. And it's the international 32gb version.
