help with verizon galaxy nexious

hi i just rooted my verizon galaxy nexus i have android version 4.0.4 im not sure what roms to use do they have to be compadable with 4.0.4 like the gummy or the the other roms i just dont know what to use i know how to flash ans all thats stuff can any one help me with my first rom please
Well. Most of the big roms out there are built off of Android 4.0.4 (Gummy, AOKP, CM, etc). But some like Android Revolution HD aren't. You can switch between Android-version based roms on a whim though, so just pick any you like!

N7 just arrived. First steps?

Hey folks,
my Nexus 7 just arrived and I am wondering what the first steps should look like.
I am not completely unfamiliar with Android, as I owned a Samsung Galaxy a few years ago, but since then I didn't really have had any more contact with it.
What I'd like is to install a nice custom rom, which is simple yet good looking and has a good battery runtime, etc.
As far as I know the Google stock Android is rather smooth so it could also be a modified original rom. I'm not sure about de-odex vs. odexed. What would be preferable?
Can you suggest the best ROM for that purposes? Ideally it should have a readme on how to install
Also do I need to unlock bootloaders or root the phone in advance or does the custom rom does all that for me?
Thanks in advance and best regards,

WiFi, 2013 Version.
To start with I just installed the Google USB Drivers and that Android SDK ADT Package thingy (all-in-one with Eclipse, etc.). Hope that's right xD
Edit: wugfreshs' tool seems to be the way to go. However, I am still unclear on whether or not to update my N7 with the newest update? I just got a message that there are updates available...
Edit2: Well, seems easy enough to use. Driver Test was successful, so I'll just go ahead and unlock/root it. Would appreciate ROM suggestions though
If you don't want me be messing with it I'd say stock rooted is the way to go.
Odex files help apps load faster I believe, and Roms are de-odexed to allow customizations such as icons and theming.
I really recommend sticking with a stock rooted ROM. Android is so polished theses days I don't see the need to mess with a good thing.

It's basically Stock but with minor improvements (pre-rooted, init.d support, slimmed down etc.)
Well if I was you the first thing I would do is update my stock rom then the next thing I would do is root the tablet with the Nexus root toolkit toolkit provided by WuGFresh.
Use the root toolkit to install the USB drivers then to unlock the bootloader there to root your Nexus 7 tablet
After your tablet is rooted load up the Google Play Store and download the app multi rom manager this app will allow you to to install Multi rom which will allow you to install multiple roms on your Nexus 7 tablet and it will also install TWRP recovery manager for you as well.
When you have multirom installed you can add a second third or fourth rom without ever touching or harming your stock ROM. As for a custom ROM I just flashed CyanogenMod 11 on my Nexus 7 2013 model Flo WiFi only tablet. Just download the latest nightly to get Android 4.4.1 or you can go with 10.2 for a "stable" ROM but the nightly is working great.
When you flash CyanogenMod don't forget to flash Google apps the GApps zip file.
As for adding ROMs with multirom you can do a YouTube search for the exact steps...bit it is quite easy. CyanogenMod or CM rather is the Cadillac of Android Roms and looks/runs great.
As for others I would probably recommend AOKP I have heard good things about it...
Many people like Paranoid Android. I tried it but did not care for it. I did not care for the rom not being rooted, but that is just my opinion.
You can't go wrong with CyanogenMod ROM.
Hope it helps and congrats on getting your N7.

[Q] which rom. help please

I have a rooted n5110 4.2.2 note 8.0
first of all I'm not a noob. However I have been spoiled. Up till nowi have had Motorola decices that have great apps like rom manager and team black hat leaks to help you decide what roms to flash.
I'm at a loss when it comes to all the options in this forum. I see some roms based on 4.2.2; 4.3 and isn't CM 11.0 based on 4.4? If I flash a 4.3 rom and dont like it cani flash a 4.2 rom or restore a backup to get 4.2.2 back? That was a big no no wirh moto devices. Once you upgraded you had to stay less you got a hold of the spf file.
Ive looked into both PAC rom and CM rom: the stable and nightly versions of both. I know nightlies may be unstable so I would stay away from them less it is easy to flash back to a 4.2.2 stable release. And downloaded the right gapps package. Why cant developers just included that in the roms?
So a bit of help please. What are the differences between the 4.2.2; 4.3 and is CM 11 based on 4.0?
I also use twrp as a recovery but have used cwm in the past. I habe both onmy sdcard in case of trouble.
any help or advice would be appreciated.
Thanks
Come on....anybody?

Try Eclipse V5 if you want a TW rom. I am using it. I just flash it two weeks ago. I also on stock 4.4.2 before this. First time flashing. Never knowing soo much about rom and other stuff. Make sure you read a lot before flashing. Most of the instruction can get online. Although V6 is out, but i still stick with V5. Most V5 info can get from "[ROM][GT-N7100][TW 4.4.4] Eclipse By AC" under "Galaxy Note II Original Android Development". Happy flashing.

i have been using android version 5.1.1 based on CM 12.1 by ivan meler and i have been using this phone with this rom for the past two months , it's development has been completed that means it is the most finished version with literally 0 bug or lags and i must say i didn't expected this kind of performance at all ... this made me revert back to my note from my iphone 6 (you can imagine the smoothness of this rom) i would not recommend you marshmallow based roms becasue about 20 days i tried one and it had issue so if you use this device as a daily driver i would say go for 5.1.1 roms instead and CM 13&MM is still in development phase that means developers are still making it worthy .
you can hit the thanks button if i helped if anyhow .. if you need any noob friendly guide on how to root and install custom roms you can always ask me .. and there are quite of few tutorials on xda a well as Youtube

Yes it's based on CM but I tested some Marshmallow Roms and this ROM is really good.
Try Ivan Meler's Cyanogenmod 13 Rom ( Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow).
It´s pretty stable and i had no problems until build 6.
Wirth build 7 there is a problem with bluetooth for some people.

All the custom ROMs (not Samsung official) must be installed with a custom recovery like TWRP or ClockworkMod. The custom recovery can be installed with Odin.
I have been like a month with CM13 and I had no problems, but if you want a stable ROM, install an older one like CM12.1 aka Lollipop.

OK. And how it's update?
From 12 to 13 When will be stable. Need again flash and wipe or OTA update?
Try Dr. Ketan's kit Kat, N3, N4 and S5 features. Truly superb. Great battery life, Viper FX for sound. Stable. Tried many but always come back to this one.

SM-T520 Looking For A Basic Rom Android 5.0 or Higher

Hi, I have been away from modding and roms for quite a while, and to be honest I have forgotten most of what I knew about it all. I have a T520 and it is currently rooted and running a Android 4 rom. I want to use it to view my Eufy Cams but in order for that app to work it needs to be on Android 5.0 or higher. I am looking for a simple setup and a stable and basic rom if possible. I literally use this tablet for nothing else, so the most important thing is being able to use that app. Thanks in advance for any help or advice.
Look at this, its doing a great job for most of the sm-t520 users here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...7-1-xsm-t520-unofficial-lineage-14-1-t3538770
Its Android 7.1.1
