i changed my dpi in build prop to 220, everything seems nicer but not the launcher. it has a weird gap in the bottom and right side of the dock and apptray
my question is, how to change the dpi of the xperia z launcher around the forum?
regards

You will need to edit the image files in drawable-xhdpi and make them into proper size for drawable-hdpi.
HDPI folders are for high resolutions(854x480, 800x480), xhdpi for very high (1080p, 720p)

I have been wanting this for wuite some time. To specify, I want the wallpaper in Rosie to be real fullscreen 640x480, instead of only 455 in heigth. Similar behaviour can be seen in Launcher2. The reason for wanting this, is that it will be possible to have a transparent/opaque status bar like it's possible in Launcher2.
My problem now is that I'm stuck. I have been looking through all smali and xml files within Rosie. I cannot seem to find anything related to the physical size of the wallpaper. Any help is extremely welcome.
you could try wallpaper set and save from market
hope this helps

I had a look and it seems to be using
getDesiredMinimumWidth
and
getDesiredMinimumHeight
from android/app/WallpaperManager (framework.jar).
EDIT: Made some changes. Actually, nevermind. It only gets the minimum size, not the maximum.
EDIT2: If you have a look at the resulting png (in /data/data/com.htc.launcher/files) you can see that the width and height actually is 640x480.

I'm not sure it is in the framework, as Launcher2 is able to use wallpaper fullscreen. If you put a opaque statusbar in framework-res.apk, you will have wallpaper behind it in Launcher2. That's what I want to achieve in Rosie. I'm 99% it has to be found in the smali or xml's of Rosie.apk.
Edit: What I am trying to say is, that if Launcher2 can do it, then Rosie should do it to, if it is the framework that is controlling the wallpaper.
I don't think it has anything to do with the height of the background, more like the blending of the statusbar. Because the top pixels of the background are actually behind the statusbar. Could also be that it does some clipping before displaying the background.
I know it doesn't has to do with the blending. If I apply a transparent statusbar, it will just turn black when in Rosie, with no wallpaper behind. In Launcher2 the wallpaper will show.
Ey!!
Maybe a silly question, but does somebody know how to change dpi on DHD?
I mean, my screen can handle 5 ''icons horizontally'' ,
how can I change the dpi to get for example 10 ''icons horizontally''.
Thanks in advance.
There's a thread here abouts for changing the DPI (although might only be if you have Cyanogen ROM) but the search I'm sure you'll do will bring it up.
Home Replacement apps like LauncherPro or ADWLauncher allow you to set number of icons but can be a bit hit or miss.
Thanks for your reply,
i got launcher pro, i made it 5icons horizontally en 4icons vertically.
if you make it more, the icons gets ugly, they dont fit normal, and some problems...
what it does, it makes the icons smaller but doesnt change the screens dpi i think.
i got stock rom.
The ugly icon issue is why I didn't bother changing it.
With a stock ROM, unless it's rooted I doubt you'll be able to change the DPI. I do recall someone mention an App but I memory serving it was for the Galaxy and tests failed on the DHD.

Both methods require root access (A rooted ROM).
true story, which makes mines NOT ROOTED xD
so i have to root it first..? no other solutions?
No you can't change your dpi without root.

Basically I like my rom >> congnition 1.5.1 and I love my GO Launcher.
What is annoying from Day one....Is the Icon size! it is too small for this screen....like unnatural.
Go Launcher as a 5X5 option but it make the screen to stuffy for home screens
Than I saw MIUI screen and The Icons size looks just grate...
So >> Is there an app or other option to make icon size bigger?
THX!
try to change dpi value from build.prop. I like small icons.. so I putted a small value... from 240 to 170.
LCD Density changer
is a small an easy application to change the DPI
higer numbers means bigger ICONS ETC.
I downloaded it from the internet but i do believe it is also available
at the market.
THX M8'S
DPI CHANGE . wont change / destroy the look of my Dialer too?

Where can I get it from ?
I've tried the LCD Resolution app on my ICS 4.0.4 Arc S and the layout of the menus etc were pretty messed up. do any of those apps work well on the Arc S? and if so which one and whats a good dpi setting to use to improve the visual experience?
Sometimes you'll have to experiment with numbers 1-9 on the dpi scale. Example I'm at 240dpi, in order for my stuff to look correct I need to set the rest of my dpi on a 3. So example, my usual dpi will be 163dpi. If I do anything other than 3 besides 240 mg screen and information will be messed up.
Edit : Certain launchers will also make a difference as they may be specified to work at the original dpi or be flexible to a new dpi.
Edit2 : Sometimes certain roms don't like dpi, a few sense and ics roms here on the Droid Incredible have issues with the dpi, if I got below 200, sense and ics roms cause certain things to stretch or stay the same dpi even though its a new dpi. Example, sense lock screen gets smaller and does not fit the screen so its off. I try to avoid using dpi on sense because of this and many other reasons, AOSP is a great place to use dpi.

Because using dpi messes the market up I use LCD Density Modded Pro. It allows you to get items from the market your android can't normally find.

I've searched a lot on this forum but couldn't find a modded Touchwiz for the leaked LSJ 4.1.2, all found are for ICS so they cannot be used.
I would like to remove the icon labels from the homescreen and from dock icons and reduce the number of screens from 7 to 3.
Does anyone have one already modded or can guide me to modify mine using apktool? (I also read on this forum that the smali file needs to be modified somehow).
Thank you!
You don't need a modded one to change the number of home screens. just 'menu > edit page' or pinch the screen and then long press on a page and drag to delete.

- Decompile SecLauncher2.apk, then
- look for variables in res/dimens.xml and res/integers.xml (maybe you will find something like homescreen_icon_textsize, or hotseat_height)
- look for icon styles in res/styles.xml (most likely you will find styles for HomeScreenIcon and/or HotSeatIcon, then you can set the value of android:textSize to 0)
- finally examine layout files in the res/layout folder. For example it is possible that the homescreen icon has a layout file, which tells you what styles / dimensions you should seek.
Good luck!
