Spent 3 days in Vegas, very impressed with the LTE out here. Can't wait for San Diego to get lit up! Here is my best speed
Connection Type: Lte
Server: Las Vegas, NV
Download: 25.07 Mbps
Upload: 11.09 Mbps
Ping: 58 ms

Perhaps you should post this in the lte discussion thread. That way your observation won't get locked.
Hastily spouted for your befuddlement

Chicago only please. AT&T's LTE in the Chicago land area isn't as fast as it is in others markets. I believe they only gave us 10 MhZ whereas every other market got 20 MhZ. So let's see your LTE speeds throughout the Chicago land area.
Coming to Chicago next month, I just hope in populated areas data works, instead of time outs.

Slow. As expected for ATT in Chicago. But one time I was able to get 16 up 9 down.

In the South suburbs I was able to pull 25mb down, but those towers have far less congestion on them. I can usually pull 4-8mb down on HSPA+. When I see people in Texas pulling 50-60mb down I frown very easily. ):
In a visit I made there a bit over a month ago, I was staying down in the loop one night and struggled to get more than 3 Mbps both up and down, despite being around 10pm. Being that was my first visit to an ATT LTE zone, I was more than disappointed. Had a much faster test (~15-16 Mbps down) while taxiing at ORD.
I'm western suburbs right now and pulling sub ten for both upload and download.
But in the Lincoln Park area I was hitting around 18 for both. Going it starts to speed up like other areas!

Chicago area sucks in LTE speed. I live in southwest where is best area for LTE speed in chicagoland and get down 20-30 mb and up 5-10 mb, but in loop i can't getmore then 3-5 down and 1-2 up
This is the *best* I've gotten, in Lakeview--7.7 Mbps down and 5.7 Mbps up:
Sorry to jack this thread but I just came back from my former hometown of Cleveland. Where they just got 4G. Thought this was pretty good.......

My LTE speeds are great in the cities I live in the city Concord, and when connection to LTE in my area it is very fastest speed I ever got was 27 download, and 7 upload. The average is probably 15 down/3 upload. And hspa average is probably 5 down/ 1 upload.

Yeah man, I live in Sac and we don't have it here yet but I travel for work and when i'm in Davis I get it
How are data speeds in the area? I'm considering T-Mobile over my current Sprint service. My typical Sprint speeds on my GS3 are usually 80-300 kbps. Sometimes higher every once in an area anyway.
Their unlimited data plan looks pretty good if the data speeds are useable. Thanks!
Here's the map, I take no credit for

Definately check it out and add your results if you are willing! Instructions and description for the map are in post 2.
Also, I just verified for you that Detroit has been upgraded to the new hspa+ 42. This means you will get speed very close to current LTE networks. Many people have reported 20+ mbps downlink using speedtest. You should see some of these on the map.

A friend in my area tested his speeds at the same time I tested mine on Sprint. T-Mobile downloaded @ 7500 kbps, while my Sprint was like 33 kbps.
In my home in Detroit I usually get between 9 and 10 mbps. At my job in Livonia though it gets as high as 22 mbps. So it's kind of spotty but your speeds will always be better than Sprint 's

That's what I want to hear! Thanks!
I've never even seen 9mb on Wimax. I'm glad they clipped me for roaming.
I get good speed in Detroit depends where you are east side west or downtown

Not a clue what you're asking....
He's asking about data speeds on the various frequencies of the phone.
Officially, no LTE on this model, yet. Rumor has it, and I'll be testing soon, that if you unlock the SIM (I already have) that you can get AT&T LTE on the phone. I've already confirmed that you can get HSPA speeds on AT&T with it.
Re: the speeds in the OP...yes, the phone in theory supports 42 Mb/s on HSPA+...far higher than your posted speeds, in real world, who knows. Real world speeds are dependent on many variables - location, towers support, backhaul capacity, network traffic between the phone and the server, etc.
In my area, the best I've ever seen on HSPA+ with this phone is about 14 Mb/s, which is comparable to my VZW LTE phone's speeds on speedtest.net.
If you're using speedtest.net, test with several different servers. I'm in Los Angeles, and the app usually tests me out of Monterey Park or downtown LA, and I get lousy speeds with those due to network congestion. If I switch to a San Jose, CA or Nevada server, speeds can quadruple.

Are you sure you weren't on WiFi with that speedtest? The Xfinity doesn't sound like a mobile connection.

Xfinity is Comcast's new branding for their Internet/cable packages. I suppose it's possible he was tethering. That's the only way that result would make any sense.
No tethering

Oh gunna say, you can use speedtest.net which is the og site .
The note 2 has a 42mbps radio so it can support up to those speeds, but it depends on many factors as mentioned above.
In berkeley, ca I get 25 mbps and in the los angeles area (san gabriel) I'm getting 14 mbps
You might have to change servers as the servers around you might be slower than those a little farther away.

Some towers have been turned on. Can someone please get some speed tests? And please run the sensorly app for one commute to contribute data to the coverage map.

How do you know its LTE and not 4G H+?
I just did a speed test and im running 20mbps
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda premium
4G LTE is also available at DFW. I did a speed test and it was running 19 mbps. Not sure if it can go faster or not since the max is 20 mbps on speedtest app. I am very happy with galaxy s4.
Can anyone in a KNOWN LTE area who is using PREPAID confirm whether or not they are getting LTE? I was told by T-Mo that prepaid SIM are not provisioned for LTE.
I've always gotten 20mbps down that's not LTE. Your on LTE if your upload speed is well over the normal 2-3 mbps
If it was HSPA there would be better coverage and it would have been there in the past. This coverage map was empty one month ago when i checked it. Its appearance coincides with the lte roll out.
Did hspa ever get 20mbps?!
The data icon should be something like 4G with subscript LTE. Also, the tests that I ran, the upload speeds were 7 Mbps and 12 Mbps. The bad news is that LTE was on for couple hrs and now it is off. I guess they are still testing the towers. Im from DFW.
I'm using an HTC One, but just noticed today that 4G LTE was displaying in the status bar whereas before it just said 4G. This is in Hollywood to be more precise.
There's LTE all over West LA now. This was as of last night.
I did a few tests in Culver City and got about 22 down and 9 up, with 60ms ping.

I'm about 25 miles east of Downtown LA. I'm getting 20Mbps down and around 1.5-3Mbps up. 4G notification icon only says 4G, not 4G LTE, but still quiet a bit faster than my S3 which used to average around 6Mbps in the same area.

That's pretty fast but lte could be faster. Maybe it will get better. Clearly it's not completed since service has gone on and off.

If you're in LA on a Galaxy phone, dial *#0011# and take a screenshot of your ServiceMode. By looking at it I'll be able to tell you what's the maximum theoretical download speed for your market (LA), what AWS channel they're using, what are your signal levels, etc..
Thanks.
