Hi Everyone,
I just got my One this week with a Double Dip case. I have noticed already that the coating on the plastic, the coating which gives it that silky, rubberised texture, is flaking off on the bottom edges. (near the USB port).
Is anyone else experiencing this so soon?
Yep exactly the same here. I am not impressed with either of HTC's efforts. They have the looks, but the quality has been dire. The double dip hard case scratched my speaker grill, and the double dip black case is flaking at the edges.
Same here, mine started peeling after a few days!!

hi there, i got my desire 3 days ago so happy wouldn't change to anything .. but yesterday it fell from my pocket on some screws and now i have screens frame scratched (some paint came off) now its metal visible and its poking my eyes is there any shop so i can buy paint to fix it or some scratch repair that u tried thanks for help !
Is it definately metal that is exposed and not plastic?
I havent tried it on my phone, but Duraglit (Brasso) removes scratches from plastic quite well apparently.

I would avoid using brasso as is an abrasive that will basically sand away the top surface of your screen surround making the problem worse. It works with scratches on screens by sanding them down very gradually. Not good for paint work!
If you are not insured against handset damage, I'd recommend getting a gel or rubber case. I have a cheap one off ebay that covers all round the edges. There are plenty out there. They look quite good IMO too. It'll cover over your unsightly marks. You are lucky the screen is unscathed.
Search for 'Case mate torque htc desire'. This is a funky rubber case that comes with a screen protector too. It's £20 but you can get plain ones for £2.50 from ebay too.
This will mean the next time you are pogo-sticking across a field of screws (nice work btw) when your phone falls out, it'll be protected.

I currently have a hard silicone back cover case on my phone but it becomes extremely slippery if I don't continuously wash it.
The back is completely smooth and I am terrified of dropping it.
I need to find a case that actually has a texture or some form of grip and keeping it under $20.
Otterbox Impact Case looks awesome, but I haven't found any good feedback on if its made from silicone that looses grip and goes slippery.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks.
Amzer jelly case. Lots of colors, terrific feel, padded corners, textured grip area, good lens protection, and so cheap on eBay you can get them for less than burgers. And if you're someone who swaps out batteries, or has a car or desk dock that wants a naked phone, they're easily removable.
Thank you for the reply.
I've had silicone cases that would lift up when ever you would slide to one side or the other.
How are the edges on the sides of the screen?
Also, anyone know how the otterbox impact cars are?
Sent from my HTC Evo via the XDA app.
The Amzer just barely wraps over the sides of front face of the screen, maybe 3/32". The bottom comes up about an eighth, and the top is cut out to clear the light sensor, speaker and front camera. I've not had issues at the edges, but I can't say if that's how I use it.
I don't think the Otterbox is in anyone's hands yet.

Alright, thanks for the info.
I am terrified of the sides being lose enough for anything to slide between them and my phone and cause my phone some damage.
(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cUT8179c2lc - at ~1:20 you an see the sides of this case being crazy loose)
I was hoping someone that had an otterbox impact on a similar phone would have a comment on if the cases texture or fit was an issue.
Thanks again.

The Amzer isn't as thin. I've not had the pull-away issues, but then, I won't carry a glass phone in a pants pocket, either. I usually carry mine in my shirt pocket.

Looks like they're going for about eight bucks on eBay, including shipping.
Hi again,
I added grip tape (left over from a skateboard deck) to my current case...lol.
It serves its purpose very well, but looks awful.
I have a chance to get the Platinum Case (Best Buy) for $10.
Anyone have any comments on this one?
Does it go slippery or feel like it could slip out of your hands?
EDIT: I just bought the case. I read some good reviews on it... guess I'll see once it arrives.
Hi guys,
I know this is a silly question but I think its warranted
Coming from a range of IPhone devices I've always used silicon cover that rims around the glass so if it fell out of my pocket screen side down the glass would not crack. Most of my if not of my drops have been from the waist down so hopefully ill continue on that trend and maybe I can escape using a bulky cover.
Now I've just put a gel cover on my note and can't help but feel it adds a lot of volume to a pretty big phone already!!!!
Ideally I want the following but unsure if it will satisfy needs
*Thickish screen protector that will help avoid glass cracking.
*Skin around the boarder if the phone to avoid scratching ( when I do drop it just order replacement skins )
*Rear battery cover is replaceable so not too worried about that but maybe need a skin to cover the camera glass from scratches.
What do u think guys would this be possible and is there any screen protectors / skins out their you would recommend?
Thanks all
a good screen protector will hold your glass in place after its shattered, but wont stop it from shattering.
most screen protectors do not cover the whole screen, they leave the edges exposed. when you drop your phone, its 90% likely to land on a corner first, so you'd need to reinforce the corners to minimise vibrations and the resultant damage in the case of a drop.
the only cases i know of that do this well are the ballistic cases. i had a ballistic shell gel and ballistic hardcore case on my old motorola atrix, i accidentally dropped it from my roof when i was fixing my antenna. no cracks on the screen, no scratches on the device itself. not bad for an 8m drop. sadly ballistic havent released any cases for the note.
Dam thanks ur right the edge needs protection.
Sometimes I think a rubber band would be good enough!! If only someone made a thin silicon band that just edged around the screen and steel frame that would be good enough for me.

I've had ballistic on my last 3 phone and they where amazing. The rubber "balls" in the corners saved my phones numerous times. Never had 1mm of damage. I really hope they do come out with something for the Note. I would be more than fine with the extra bulk knowing it's that protected.
Hi
I bought a oneplus one about 3 months ago and I absolutely love it however I dropped it a while ago and everything is fine but the frame area to the left of the charging port is completely jacked up :/ chunks of it are missing too...
I'm currently using the oneplus flip cover however it doesn't cover it up, so my question is: is there any light tpu/hard shell case that covers up the entire silver bezel, or at least the bottom of the phone so I don't have to look at this anymore xD. All cases I've seen so far leave a bit of the bottom frame exposed just enough so you can see the damage :'(
Anyone know any case that can cover it up?
Thanks!
I advise you to look for the "Diztronic" TPU case, covers completely the silver frame, following the contour of the screen. There's just a 1 cm spot where the frame is visible, at the bottom of the cover, near the hole for the USB cable, but in normal use is not visible. It's 6 months that I'm using this cover in combination with a tempered glass and I'm really satisfied.
Guess it all depends on what kind of protection you want. If you just want mild protection and to just cover the sides, then go with the tpu case. If you want heavy protection, I would suggest the Tudia Omnix Hybrid, http://www.amazon.com/TUDIA-Full-body-Protective-Protector-Resistant/dp/B00SO4XYHA . I have the Tudia case and it has taken a beating and protected the phone very well, even from some pretty high falls. Only con about the Tudia case, is that the front covers the sides of the screen a bit and prevents touch at the the very edges of screen. This can be a bit bothersome if using apps in full screen/landscape when you have to swipe down to exit full screen.

I totally agree, couldn't have said it better. Here are some visuals for you. I got the Diztronic case when I bought the phone, it has protected it from falling out a car, off the desk, and off a moderately high shelf. You can get a tempered glass screen protector off eBay, have to search a bit (TechArmor don't have one). I got one from user dreamlight2004 for around 5 dollars. I made the mistake of getting the OPO screen protector when i first got my phone and it went bad a month ago, a hard scratch from a key. Tempered glass protector looks so much better. Just loaded COS13, it should keep me busy until the OP3 gets announced - so far it's looking to be a really good phone (boo on the OP2 and OPX)

I agree, Diztronic bumpers are terrific.
I'm using this one http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rearth-Case-OnePlus-One-Folie-Ringke-Fusion-Schutzhulle-Cover-Tasche-klar-/121715293296?hash=item1c56cbfc70:g:gAUAAOSwT6pVt5tV And it is awesome. You can also print your designs for this case!
Ringke Fusion for me is great. It covers the OPO completly.
DO NOT BUY THE TUDIA CASE.
I bought it because I thought it looked pretty sweet. It's the worst case I have ever owned, and I have owned a few. Half the case is slippery nonsense plastic. You grab your phone "wrong" (by this I do not mean insecurely, but simply you happen to not have your fingers on enough of the case's rubber outline), it's like holding an eel.
The clips covering the audio jack and usb port are an absolute NIGHTMARE to open, and plugging in your charger for the night would realistically take three hands with 17 fingers each to manage in a reasonable timeframe. Good thing my audio jack's clip, after having been used exactly twice without even the slightest bit of the abuse it deserved, now no longer clips into it's crevice, and is permanently hanging out at a 30 degree angle. The pop-out clip on the back is nail ruining torture to get out, as is the rubber outline holding the front of the case, should you want to get this garbage off to see how far you can launch it through the air in rage.
I wouldn't use this piece of junk if they paid me.
I am using the TUDIA Dual-Layer case+a glass screen protector, which turned my One to a tank
I drop it way too often, but it still works flawlessly, so I can recommend this case. It also coverers the aluminum frame
I can rep the Poetic Case found here:
I took out the screen protector but I have been rocking the case for more than a year. It is kinda bulky but I have no worries about dropping it or tossing my phone on my desk. Also, It is kinda water resistant (with the screen protector). I have dropped like a glass of water on it and quickly cleaned it up with no harm
Anyone finds that the metal frame is very easy to scratch from removing or putting on the case ?
any solution to remove these scratches
Well tbh I don't use any case and don't have scratches.

my mate had this issue when he took out the case to put in a screen protector. he used turtle wax (yup, the one used for waxing your car). he dipped a little on an earbud and started rubbing on the scratch. seemed to work.
It was more an issue with the Z Fold 2 and 3 in my opinion. The frame around ebe screen and back glass was wider, and as much as I love and prefer the matte finish, it seemed to scratch easier.
I have that same issue. My official Samsung pen case scratched the hell out of the corners of my frame to the point I just don't use it anymore.
