since monday, my GN2 charges too slow. As in taking up to 8 hours to go from 5% to 35%. I don't know why. I bought a new charger today and it does charge the phone faster however, that only works if my phone is powered off. Should I send my GN2 back to samsung? When I first had my GN2 it took 2 1/2 hours to charge completely. But now I can't even get it to charge to 40% in 8 hours. What is going on? Is there anyone else having the same issue?
Is your phone getting hot when it charges? Are you on a custom kernel or ROM? Stock?
So it does charge fully in an hour or two when its off? If so sounds like you have a rogue app running that us using juice while its charging, thus taking energy away from the battery.

I'm on a stock rom and using perseus kernel. As for gn2 running hot, that answer to that is no.

Things stop working. You will not know unless you test it. The other option is to flash back to stock. If that does not fix it you know it is the battery, the charger or the phone.

Yep same with me. Once I changed the cable the charging went back to normal
I had the same problem, and found out it was the charger, it was charging at .4 amps, and it should be charging at 2.0 amps if you want the fastest charge, i use a app called GalaxyChargingCurrent to find that out. I bought another Samsung charger for the phone that's rated 2.0 amps, Which fixed the slow charge.

Any idea what causes this? because it just started happening a week ago after having it charge normally for five months.
I read somewhere, that the cable can degrade over time, I bought power supply and cable to make sure I fix the problem. The article said that there are different grades of usb cables. If I find it I will post a link.

Hello,
My battery is not charging while the charger is connected !!!
the phone detect the charger but the battery won't charge :s
any idea ?
thank you
Try any other chargers?
If yes, and still doesn't work then I'm going with faulty charger port. Just got done setting up a refurb from VZW b/c my g/f's gnex had this issue.
The only other thing I can say to try is bending the tab/metal plate in the middle of the charging port up towards the glass a bit to center it more. May work.
i've tried 3 differents chargers and usb cables.it shows "charging" on lockscreen but the battery drains !
i'll try to bend the metal plate to center it more.hope it will work

I had this problem. The charging port (the thing in the middle of the port) on the phone was bent. Took a safety pin and moved it a bit.

This is a known Samsung hardware problem with GNex. The USB port's contact (in the center) is made from cheap, thin metal -- unpleasantly reminiscent of the Galaxy S cheap, thin metal GPS antenna; a total fail. It's really criminal that Samsung releases product like this, and moreover that they don't halt production and engineer the problem out before putting more lemons out there.
The recommended solution -- bending the contact into alignment -- worked for me for about 5 seconds. Repeat 5 times, and then the phone simply wouldn't start up.
Your best solutions:
1. If it's under warranty, send it in for a fix
2. If it's not, search this forum for instructions on buying (ebay?) and replacing the USB port.
In either case, I'd worry about the problem re-occurring. I bought the very overpriced desk dock so that I can charge using the pogo pins. However, in my car I still need to use the USB cable ... very carefully.
I wouldn't ordinarily get phone insurance, but in this case I'm considering it. Not sure if it would be a covered incident. Does anyone know of a well-priced third-party insurance company that actually provides the coverage that one expects?
Hi there.
Has anyone managed to fix this issue?
My phone has the same problem. When I try to charge it, battery icon changes to charging animation, but battery percentage will not go up. In settings, status of battery is "discharging". Also, battery settings page does not show any application using battery other than "Android OS" and "Screen" which i find strange - usually at least 10 apps are shown on this page.
Have tried different wall chargers and USB cables, have tried getting the pin in the micro-USB port to the middle. still no help.
On the latest version of JBSourcery ROM, if that helps.
Thanks.
battery calibration?
this may be the case if you recently flashed a new ROM and your battery is not properly calibrated yet. you may try to let the battery completely discharge and charge again (of course, this only works, if it is indeed not a hardware issue also, use only wall chargers)... repeat that a few times and your battery should be calibrated again... had this problem a few times after flashing a new ROM, but that fixed it.

Does sound dead sadly, should have some charge if it came new.
Does it get detected as anything by windows even if off?
Any repsonse if you hold down the power button and both volume buttons?
Mine did the same thing when it was fresh out the box. I just left it on sharge for a couple of hours and the charge light then lit and it powered up. The battery was just very flat on arrival.
Did your battery warm up though? This ones cold to the touch
I think it's dead so already called for a replacement but gotta wait for it
In the meantime I will leave it to charge overnight but I'm not hopeful at all, be better if we could access the battery instead of HTC going all apple on us
As I got my hox, it was fully discharged too, and it took ca. 30 minutes to bring it back to life...

When I first got mine was at 15% battery, after 24hrs charging (original charger, laptop, Inc s charger...) nothing changed.
Ended up with a replacement but took optus Australia 3 weeks to replace it.
...
Try to change cable I have to do that because stock cable that came with phone is sh..t.One day just stop working. Now using NOKIA CA-101 and no problem at all fantastic build quality. With stock cable had that problem couple times
Even if it does not light right up, the battery should get warmer when charging. Like advised, try a different cable, if that does not work either, then there probably is no simple solution that you can solve on your own.
So I immediately fell in love with the fast charging capability of this phone. Unfortunately ive noticed its not charging as fast as it used to. I ran it down to 2% yesterday and put it on the charge. I get the slow charge in the notification, which ive been getting a lot, so I unplug and replug and it dosent return. 2hrs later I'm at 28%, when I wake up to go to work its only at 91%, problem is I woke up for work at 10 and put it on the charge at like 3:45. Anyone else noticed this?? This isnt the first time its happened just never this bad... I'm using the stock charger. I tried others but same thing. I've noticed sometimes that if it doesn't make a good connection it will say Slow Charge in the status bar. When that happens I just disconnect and reconnect.

I used a different cable from a Kindle because it was larger. Figured as long as it was connected to the same wall adapter the phone came with it would be fine. Unfortunately it looks like the only way to get the fast charge speed into use LG's cable which is way to short.

Yes I have charged it 100% multiple times, The only difference is i use a sammy charger that outputs 0.7 amps once in a while. I dont suspect the charging thing to do this.

Like Highfigh suggested check how long you can run on a full charge. If you get some good hours in then maybe the battery % is not reporting back properly. A reset/restore could possible resolve that issue.
I believe I am getting pretty good charge. I will try once again, I was thinking this might be something with stock rom and hence I posted it online. Thanks every one for the help

exactly the same story here. in my case it's not so easy to turn it on. it would seem like the device is completely discharged, even if it just showed some 40 % battery left. i have to wait several hours to even try to bring it back to recovery mode. very long press does nothing. it happened couple of times already. very annoying with such seemingly superb tablet. i'm not living in the us of a, so no quick replacement for me
That's bad I can turn on mine in a few minutes. Again mine happens very rarely. I also get an excellent battery life. How long does yours go on a charge.
I would also like to know if there is any kind of Logs that we can look at. It's getting irritating, did you try rooting your device to see if that might fix the problem.

Try a different cord, if the issue still stands, you may want to replace that USB port.
