Hey guys, i need some help. Just rooted my phone put aokp ROM on.
Everything looked great but it says camera can't connect. I can't get camera to work
Even after clearing gallery data. I tried another ROM with same result.

I would uninstall any other camera apps that might be locking a shared library.

I have the same problem, I've tried using CM10.1, LiquidSmooth, Carbon ROM, all with the same results, the only ROMs that work are Touchwiz Based ones.

Is this a known problem on the AOSP ROMs? I don't run then so I don't know, but I seen ti remember a while back camera having issues

It is NOT an issue. Just go back to TW your camera will work and all will be well.
Currently there are no known camera issues on CM and AOKP based ROMs

For you. If you look through the dev threads for these ROMs no one else is having the issue.

No it is NOT an issue. Look through the ROM threads, do you see everyone posting they cannot use their cameras? If it was an issue don't you think that would be the case? The camera works on the AOSP ROMs . Quit making it out to be more than some issue you have.

Did you do a fresh install and test before installing any apps. Are you using the right official gapps?

I am not saying you are the only one. What I am saying is if it was an issue with AOSP ROMs there would be bug reports all throughout the ROM dev threads. That is not the case. You are doing something wrong or you have a kernel, recovery or hardware issue

Finally a response that could be helpful!!!!
Ive been using the kernel they come with, have tried both twrp and cmw recovery, and if it works on touchwiz, im not sure of hardware issues and thats with four different touchwwiz roms including stock rooted.
And i have seen others report it as well. The restart, wipe, none of those worked. Not my first time flashing and these would crash after fresh installs

I also seems to be having this problem. So far, I tried many different ROMs and from my experience, it seems like the camera only works on TW based ROMs like Jedi and Frosty Jellybean. In any other ROMs I tried such as Carbon, cyanogenmod, and Rootbox, camera does not work.
So far, I tried rebooting several times, fixing permission, doing full wipe before flashing, using different camera app, uninstalling all other camera apps, but none of them seems to fix the problem for me.
If anyone got a fix, it would be great.
Also, my note II model number is SGH-T889V which I got from WIND. Maybe this problem only occurs for SGH-T889V and not on SGH-T889. Can anyone else confirm this?
I know they are flashed at the same time, I did it to illustrate a point, that even with nothing on there, the app crashes!

hey guys,
i've recently started flashing various roms to try as my old one was getting slow and things were stopping to work, i also kinda fancied a change. But each one i flashed with a sense 3.0 lock screen just doesn't work, i mean i've followed all the instructions and the requirements even updated the radio but to no avail. I know this isn't a rom specific issue which is why i'm posting here and not in rom threads.
Hope you guys can help

It's a known bug with a lot of the sense 3.0 roms, however I find it rare that it happens, witch is why most of the roms come with tp2wake/unlock. The only fix is to wate for devs to fix. :-(

Good to see that i'm not the only one with Sense Lock Screen Problems.
Is it possible that this Bug depends on the Hardware-Revision?
I've got PVT4.
The only ROM where Sense Lock Screen was working fine was LeeDrOiD
Now with
AceSMod007 (Sense2.1+3.0 GB | Stable | A2SD+) [STOCK | CM7] [v35 | 03/09]
it is working perfectly for me.

I installed yesterday the exact same ROM (v40) as you with CM7 hboot and while the lockscreen works as it should, after it sleeps and screen turns off then it lags a lot until it unlocks. Even worse when I get incoming call the whole thing freezes, the ringtone is interrupted and everything is non-responsive until the phone wakes up again and works as it should. What's wrong with that?
Agile Lock is an app that provides all functionality of Sense 3 lock screens and then some. I am using it even though the sense 3 lock screen of my LeeDroid ROM works well.
I've been using CM 10 and 10.1 nightly builds on my Verizon GNex for quite some time without issue. Yesterday I decided to try the Carbon Rom(4/22 nightly, 4/23 nightly and 1.6 Stable) and had the same issue on all.
I get no WiFi, or 3G/4G signal. If I try to launch the browser it flashes on the screen for a second and then disappears. It's basically unusable for me. I did a clean flash to make sure nothing from the CM 10.1 Rom would cause any issues but still have the same problems.
I really wanted to check out that Rom because it looks pretty nice and is supposed to be really fast.
Does anyone have any ideas of what I can try? The Rom itself installs fine, but once it's installed I have those issues.
I looked through a bunch of the forum pages for the actual Rom itself on here and didn't notice anyone else reporting these issues so I'm not sure why I'm seeing this. I've installed other Roms other than CM without issues.
Thanks,
Ben

Right now I'm trying the kernel that comes with Carbon. I did do a full wipe prior to installing the Rom.
I downloaded the Xylon Rom yesterday and that installed with no problems at all. So not sure why Carbon is having these issues on my phone.
i am using ak kernel 207
i used the kernel with the rom and had no issues with it also..but ak kernel + carbon = best battery
and the pa setting added now is a icing on the cake,i dont need anything else
WiFi is not working at all, I used TWRP, wipe and advanced wipe, but still can not succeeded.
Well, I am using the latest Carbon Nightly with SmittyV Kernel (also the latest one) and it's working pretty well
Not perfect because my phone sometimes shuts down randomly and it still has some issues like when using the Carbon Active Display with the default messaging app (the "unread message" notification doesn't go away even after I reply to the message and close the app with the back button) and it sometimes freezes the phone (making me have to remove the battery to turn it off and then reboot).
Other than that I'm not having any problems with Wi-Fi. Try to install another rom then install again the carbon rom wiping everything in both flashes
i am having the worst problem. i just got my note 2
and i went to put my favorite aosp rom on and couldn't get
my camera to connect. i get this same error on two different aosp roms.
rite now i am on jedi x13 which is ok rom but i hate touch wiz!!
please any developer or someone that knows allot about these roms

I have used every AOSP ROM ... this is not an issue with the ROM. If you do a complete wipe and install any AOSP ROM .... no apps, can you open the camera? If not there is something wrong with your phone.

Hey,
So I found a MIUI 3.5 ver. ported from the GS3 in the Development Forums with some inexplicable problems with it (home button wont work, Play Store crashes, etc.) which I will address when I reach the 10 post mark, but I was just wondering when a MIUI 3.5 (V5) official version will be released, because even the latest 2.12 for the T989 is glitchy and certain apps crash and doesnt have some of the features and animations I loved in the experimental GS3 port.
So any news from Xiaomi you have heard or developed on?
Thanks, and if anyones wondering I'm running CM10.1 nightlies.

MIUI v5 is based off 4.2. Look up things before you go telling people to flash older gapps. Not to mention I'm fairly positive (it's been a while) that you don't even flash GApps with MIUI because they have their own versions of apps.

Tell everyone which Rom you're running and what you do or don't like about it. I figured the thread would be nice for people looking for roms to try and hear personal experiences with them instead of just a description.
I tried pacman last night but screwed something up (there is an insane amount of options) and went back to stock for now. I know how to change what I did no so I'll probably reflash later. Happy flashing!!
Nothing yet, but definitely Venom/Viper when available for Verizon One. I had the HTC One for a bit and was able to try many. This one just plain out rocks. You can see a thread about it just a few down from this. Watch the video about it as well. So many mods, tweaks etc and just plain out runs...
I'm currently running v2 of hawknest ' EclipticONE. It is based off the stock rom so it runs 4.2.2 and sense 5 with tweaks. It is *inverted sense*. I love it there because of the dark colors of everything. It is very stable with only slight issues so far with the play store but nothing that can't be fixed!

Currently running CM10.2 and I like it a lot. I've used AOSP on my previous 3 smartphones. Everything is working great for me except I cannot get a GPS lock whatsoever. The fix according to some forum posts would be to flash a Sense ROM to get a lock and reflash CM. I'm going to flash GPE to play around and see how that is.
running CM10.2 until Liquid can gett calls working on that rom. I much prefer liquid (a couple more tweaks) but I need my phone to be a phone

I really like some of the features from Paranoid, and this is the closest to getting them. Plus I have a soft spot for the mix type of Roms, having a similar one on my HP Touchpad.
I just installed and am setting up VanirAOSP. So far, so good. I tried CM 10.2 yesterday but it was a little flaky. I'm looking forward to trying Venom.
Also running EclipticONE. Love the inverted sense and I really wanted to keep the stock camera since I'm crazy about the zoe feature. Using Apex Launcher anyway so blinkfeed is not an issue for me. The ROM has been zippy and bug free.
VanirAOSP because it has PIE, Halo, and IR blaster support. I absolutely love this ROM. Plus, Sonic is the dev behind it and he is quite awesome!

No clue. Maybe because Vanir is built off AOSP while PAC is built off CM? That's a stretch though.
I'm running Vanir at the moment. Very simple, great customization options and everything works well without any major hitches.
Looking forward to trying out Carbon soon; loved the ROM on my DNA and would love to see how it fares on the One.

Vanir is going to be different than stock ROM and Bonestock in regards to TiBu. Vanir is on 4.3 AND it is built off AOSP. You need to change the backup folder for those ROMs otherwise it will not work. I just cant remember if changing the backup folder is because of 4.3 or because its built off AOSP. Its one of those (or both).
As I posted in the CM10 thread:
FYI - I learned that there's an issue with restoring apps with Titanium Backup and Android 4.3. You have to change your backup location to: /storage/emulated/legacy/TitaniumBackup from /storage/emulated/0/TitaniumBackup otherwise your restore will get stuck at 0%.
