** SUCCESS** Import your old SMSes !!

Well.. its not quite as easy as that
I have a backup of my SMSes dating way back, about 500 in total, that i'd wanted to put on my XDA IIs. However there was no software out there that would convert plain text or database format text into SMSes. The closest thing that came to it was the Jeyo Mobile Companion, and all that does is backup your SMSes to an "SPD database format" and restore it again.
So I wrote a small application to convert my old SMSes to an SPD format file, and it worked!
I thought I should share this with you all. It's written in C# ASP.NET, basically cos its easy to edit / compile (you just need the XP web server with .NET framework).
It reads from my MSDE server, but you could make it an Access MDB file, or even a CSV file. It creates "inbox" and "sent items" files.
As I don't really want to have to support it , I thought someone else might want to turn this into a nice little app. So feel free to take the code and use it!
Apologies for the shoddy coding, I did it in a bit of a rush! NB I'm using Jeyo Mobile Companion v1.0.1
And while your at it, take a look at this program

Symbian OS to WM Contacts Transfer Issue ... help required !!!

Dear xda, its really nice to have such a forum where one can discuss issues and help each other . I have recently shifted from symbian to windows mobile and its my first WM device experience . I am having a pretty different problem transferring my contacts from one of my main sets nokia n73 . I have all my full detailed contacts setup in the set and want to move it to my newly bought wm device HTC Touch Pro 2. The problem is that my n73 contacts is setup bit customized in a sense that n73 provides facility in editing or renaming the labels of the phone number fields within a contact. So, I manage my phonebook in a way e.g. I edit a contact named Dave and within that I add a “mobile (home)” or “mobile (business)” field and rename the field to “mobile (Dave brother Josh)” … this way, I can track links to indirect contacts and also add less contact entries with more numbers saved within my phonebook. Now the problem is that I cannot move my contacts with same labels to WM as i think WM don’t offer label customization or renaming . Moreover, i cannot see more than one mobile numbers in the WM contacts whereas some of my n73 contacts have more than one mobile numbers ...... I can easily take backups of N73 phonebook from a 3rd party application named as "Oxygen Phone Manager" which lets me backup/restore my contacts with same renamed labels as setup in N73.
FYI: I am using WM 6.1 orange stock ROM (sim unlocked).
I have been searching on XDA-Dev and Google for more than a week now but unable to find a possible solution . This problem is making my htc tp2 unusable for me even though I want to use it as it’s a really cool device .
Can you xda genius guys help me out here and provide me a method of moving my contacts with the same labels as is setup in n73?????? i really hv high hopes for solutions here ....
If you guys still require some clarification on the issue, do ask....
Sorry if I have put this problem in the wrong section as I have recently joined xda….
Thanks in advance !!
Anybody who can help please !!!!!
Can any xda forum members guide me with this issue I still cant find a solution

Read out SMS from my Smartphone

Hi there, how can i develop an application that can read out sms messages from my touch hd (WM 6.5) ?
i want develop on my desktop pc an application that can read out all sms messages from my phone (tools are vista, visual studio 2008)
greetings
SMS
Should be able to using the Microsoft SAPI (speech) library. Would need to add a reference to it first in your desktop app. Look under the COM tab when adding a reference.
I've done it on Delphi / C++ but I believe it should be the same on C#.

I forget who's Rom I was using. Probably juicy for touch pro1. there was one person that every time she sent a text to me it was marked urgent and my phone would read it out loud to me as it came in. and I mean every time.
What setting in the phone did that?

What is the best backup solution for TP2?

I'm aware that the new stock TM Windows Mobile 6.5 upgrade has a program on it called Mobile Backup. On the ROM I'm using now I have PIM Backup. Specifically what I'm looking for is how to backup email settings without having to do it every time I flash the device. I'm also there are ways to create your own cabs, I assume XML; but I am far from having the expertise to do this from scratch myself. I get that most of these programs will save my contacts, messages themselves but it is the settings itself though I'm a reasonable guy if a program does it all I'm not going to complain; any ideas? Thanks in advance!

[Q] Restore a backup to a new device with different brand

Hello!
I will return my HTC 7 Tophy and get a Samsung Omnia 7. I've backed up my HTC with Zune. Will I be able to restore that backup to my new Samsung with all settings of WP7 restored?
Regards
-- Daniel
I don't think that will fly. Zune is able to discern between two identical focus's and put the correct backup on each. I don't know what Zune uses specifically to identify phones though.
