Sorry for bother, I never had problem like this with heimdall and I usually fix them myself but I flashed back to stock because my phone would not install roms correctly. Anyway now im trying to get back to root. I download the CWM recovery tar and extract the bin file and when I go to flash it is says ERROR: Setting up interface failed! then Re-attaching kernel driver. I unpluged my phone and it bricked it. It had the phone-computer logo on it. Im back to stock again but if I use the CWM tar I get bricked. It cant be my cord because I can flash back to stock with no problem BTW im using Ubuntu 13.04

Strange. The only time I've had that error screen with phone and computer was when I attempted to flash a NS4G modem in Odin and had a bad flash.
I would suggest redownloading CWM and compare hash sums. You could give TWRP a try too. (You download a .bin file if directly on their website.)
If still the same, then try to repartition.
I've never used Heimdall, so the above is all I can really suggest.

Well, outside of building a Windows VM in VirtualBox or using a friend's Windows machine to use Odin, have you tried to flash via adb fast boot?

Search Google for how to flash recovery via adb. There are a lot of tutorials around here. I'm pointing you that way so you can get familiar with the process and list of commands as a whole.

Thsnks man ill see i can get it working
EDIT: Now I didnt get to flash to work with adb because the device dosent support fastboot. BUT! I got CWM installed by going here http://oldwiki.cyanogenmod.org/wiki/Samsung_Epic_4G:_Full_Update_Guide and getting that recovery and it worked.
But dude I didnt realize how useful adb was. trying to find out how to use it I did learn a few things about it. Ill be using adb now. By the way i got the other CWM (the one that bricked my phone) from
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1357655 and I still dont know why it doesnt work. ho hum!

Seem to have gotten myself in another bind :/
Ok, so I flashed a ICS ROM and as usual I want to flash something else(I admit its a bad addiction! ). Unfortunately, my OEM cable isnt working and so odin can't recognize the phone!
SO I have mobile odin installed but I need the correct files. Never had to use it until now, I thought I had a correct kernel/recovery to flash but it says "partition not recognized"
So please mind that I will have to download the files DIRECTLY from my phone. I will seriously LOVE anyone who can help me out
Go to the wiki, found in the sticky section, you're looking for el26 kernel with cwm tar file. In mobile Odin, click kernel and find the file. Check md5 and go. During reboot, Press and hold volume up and power till you get to cwm. Do your wipes and flashing there. Good luck!

Assuming you are using something from the OneClick thread, you need to unpack the file first, either double-click the .exe in windows to unpack or use zarchiver on android. The resulting file can be use with Mobile ODIN using Open File.
Here's the el26 cwm kernel

There are several apps like Wifi File Browser that you can install on your phone that will allow you to transfer files back and forth from your pc/phone if necessary. Really nice to use too.
I am pretty new to flashing and rooting android phones. I have a GNex 4.1.1 JB Stock ROM. It was stuck in a boot loop somehow and I wasn't able to fix it by factory reset. Someone told me to unlock and root the phone to install a new stock ROM.
I unlocked using the Wuz toolkit. But rooting wasnt possible because I couldnt push files through ADB. Then I tried doing an ODIN flash using this method (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1827685). But I got stuck at NAND Write Start.
Now I have a Phone <-> Yellow Triangle with Exclamation <-> Computer. Which I believe is download mode for Samsung.
Then I tried an OMAP Flash using this method (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/archive/t-1465412.html). I was successful installing the OMAP drivers and running the bat file. However I am still have the phone/yellow/triangle/Computer logo on my screen.
I tried to do an ODIN flash again but still stuck at NAND Write Start.
I already tried to do this:
1.) Repartiion using the PIT file [ODIN]
2.) Then OMAP flash
3.) Then Flash PDA file using ODIN.
I also tried it by swapping steps 1 & 2 but no progress. Can someone tell me the exact sequence of steps or any advice what to do now?
First of all, let me list your mistakes before I help you out:
Mistake #1: You used a toolkit. By doing so, you skipped over the entire learning part of unlocking and flashing your device, so you have no idea what went wrong or what you did.
Mistake #2: You used Odin when you didn't have to. You can mess up your device with Odin, while it is next to impossible to do so using fastboot. We have a Nexus device, i.e. a device with an unlockable bootloader and the ability to use fastboot. In my opinion, Odin should only be used as a last resort.
Mistake #3: You did not read enough before you decided to fix your bootloop. There are a bunch of stickies in the General and Q&A sections. Did you read any of them?
Now, on to fixing your issue.
Go to the Dev section and find the IMM76D Odin file in a thread started by Chainfire.
Follow the instructions in that thread to flash the complete package. Odin should be able to flash your device even though you are on the screen you currently see. Do not use a JB Odin package, use an ICS package.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
I read a few articles and i know it wasnt enough. I posted a thread on android central and a senior wrote down some steps and i followed that. But going for odin and omap was totally my experiment.
I links to the imm76d image do not work any more. File not found error. There were no other sources i could find. Do you have another link to the file?

I downloaded the image and tried an odin flash but seems to be stuck at nand write start. I also see that this process does not have a pit to repartition. I had previously tried to re partition it using the pit file given in the jb stock rom odin image. Can i use the same one here?

You shouldn't need the .pit file. That's what probably messed things up in the first place.
If Odin is not working, I guess you can try Omap flash and then Odin. Note that if you try omap flash, and then Odin still doesn't work, I don't think you have any other option besides sending it in for repair.

I tried the OMAP Flash. It executes perfectly in the command window but my phone still shows the "connect phone to PC" picture with yellow excalmation. After that I tried ODIN flash the IMM76D tar file but I am still stuck at NAND Write flash. What I want to know is that what are the reason for getting stuck at NAND write flash and what should have happened to my phone after OMAP Flash was complete?
Furthermore I was also thinking if using a USB jig would help me get back into fastboot.

After OMAP Flash, you should still see the "connect phone to PC" picture with yellow exclamation, but now Odin should have worked. Not sure why it gets stuck on NAND write flash. Maybe try un-checking the F. Reset Time option. Someone about a week ago said that it worked for him.

unzipped odin (download all 4 files in folder) https://www.dropbox.com/sh/g4c2i0i0q2kw5c4/87BZrLlod4
stock kernal tar if needed https://dl.dropbox.com/s/m00jzrxv9tphr93/boot-stock-spr-l710palen.tar?dl=1
If you cant use odin you could use adb.
Download stock kernel boot.img https://dl.dropbox.com/s/90o7ch8dduooje4/boot.img?dl=1
Put on root of sd (adb push boot.img /data/media/)
then do adb shell
When you get the # type this line:
dd if=/sdcard/boot.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p7
or since Im such a nice guy FLASHABLE ZIP for recovery https://dl.dropbox.com/s/z6q3z30ojpl9yz8/stockkernel.zip?dl=1

....do i just boot the downloader screen for adb like odin??
adb looks more difficult than my experience level. i dont know hardly anything about programming.. so if anyone knows how to push the zip file from odin plz let me know... im kind of stuck and i need my phone for work tomorrow....

The zip file is to flash in recovery. Adb is also done in recovery.
The .tar is for Odin. Its the link that says stock kernel tar if needed. Load that in the pda slot of odin. And you should know what adb is, if our gonna mod your phone adb is your best friend. Especially in a situation like this.
You should do some reading before you brick your phone.
i reflashed the tar file in odin... nothing still bricked... i downloaded adb and it started downloading all these images.. is that normal? like huge files i think???
ill try the adb thing, if you can walk me through it that would be great.... i will start it back up and let the files download i guess.. i have the stock kernel zip ready so i just dont know how to use adb....
the adb i saw on youtube looks like he is in mscommand or whatever that is called, but the adb i have is like a white box with a bunch of lines an stuff goin on

My first step would be to re-download a stock rom and try to flash it multiple times (which i'm sure you already have done). I know when I had a bad flash back to stock and got a completely black screen, it took me quite a few flash attempts to get it to flash correctly.
ok will do.

I had a similar issue and I managed to recover it by flashing just the stock UVLH1 kernel.
There was also a PIT file packed with Odin which I removed before flashing the Kernel.

Hello all, My name is Zach. I've been around XDA for a while, but haven't really posted anything, I thanked devs for work and have been flashing my phone for a while now. Well, last night, I was exhausted, and shouldn't have done what I did. I flashed the full "CODE_SPH-D710.GA10_818252_REV00_user_low_ship.tar.md5" to my phone via mobile odin from an ics rom (Phantoms ff18 I believe). Everything was going fine until the phone just shut off, and it booted straight into recovery mode.
Well now my phone will not boot, and I have no access to my external memory card via CWM-based Recovery v5.0.2.3 that was installed from the tar. All of my roms are on my external.
Every time I plug it into the computer I get "USB device is not recognized" and it installs an "Unknown Device" driver from windows. So I can not mount it in CWM to send the files to internal.
I have tried removing all drivers and kies, restarting, reinstalling, then plugging my phone back in about 1000 times now.
Now some good news, I can get into Odin mode, but odin does not recognize it due to the problem above^
My question is, is there still hope? and can anyone help me?
I would try redownloading drivers on a diffrent computer if possible and make sure you have original cord. You can also try to wipe data via stock recovery and try to boot again just some quick thoughts also could try to find one of the one clicks and pull cord out and put back in once you open the one click (not during the one click) and see if it will show then start the one click also make sure you have the correct drivers install if you go to sextapes site they have everything you need. Hope it turns out ok:beer:

I hope its fixable :/
Get a Micro SD USB adapter. You can transfer the files with that.
Well. If your phone still turns on there's hope. After you plug it into your computer and it installs that unknown device or whatever go to control panel -> system -> device manager.
Right click on the unknown device, update driver, browse my computer for drivers, let me pick from list of drivers, then forcefully install the samsung driver through there and then try to odin a stock ICS tar http://rwilco12.androidfilehost.com/LeakSite/?dir=Leaks/Samsung Epic 4G Touch/FI27/Original TAR/.
After the you install the tar I would boot into recovery and wipe data and cache then reboot to make sure it's clean. Then after you're back to stock then you can root recovery whatever and try flashing JB again. I suggest using CWM and a zip file this time around though. Good luck.

I'm not sure what exactly happened but it sounds as if you are screwed if Odin doesn't recognize it at this point. It sounds like something went very wrong with the bootloader to me, maybe Mobiletech can help repair your device for $50 if all other advise fails.

Read the original post , the phone does NOT boot into android, it stays on the splash screen, forever.
Is it possible to boot an android OS from my external memory card? I know you could do it on the NOOK Color
Any help at this point would be greatly appreciated.

So, to recap:
You were on FF18 with custom recovery, went to flash the GA10 tar via MO, phone died during process, isn't recognized when phone is in Odin mode and connected to a pc, you can still get to recovery and download mode on the phone but can't flash because it's not recognized, removed/re installed
Correct?
Have you tried another pc? Have you tried another cable? Have you pulled the sd card out and tried reading that on a pc?
There is some sort of lesson to be learned here. :sly:

Id didn't die, it just turned off, and restarted straight into the recovery. I have tried 3, and 4 different cables, the SD cards reads in the computer but isn't showing up in the recovery, I get "No files found" and since I cant boot, I cant change the directory for the SD card.

Yes, But hopefully my phone is revivable!
Have you tried another pc?
And was it a full flash? You saw pass and it restarted?
:edit: Just saw your post about using both laptops.
What gets me, the flashing process and a restart and still you're left with the custom recovery. I'm interested in where the flash got to.. since the tar doesn't flash a custom recovery..
One thing to try - Put the phone in Odin mode, have it plugged into the laptop, then start odin. Try it backwards..
Which version of Odin are you using?

I've tried a few different versions, but I've been trying to use a one-click that way it will just install everything
