The S4 rom will be released soon (if it hasn't already)
Will the S4 rom provide drivers and software that will improve the custom S3 roms we have here?
No.
Samsung doesn't release that stuff to mess with. And seeing how the S4 will come with a locked bootloader no one will even attempt to mess with it to begin with.

Hey guys,
I am thinking to try paranoidkangdroid 4.2.2 ROM for galaxy s3 AT&T. but my phone is still running 4.1.1 and there is no update for the at&t yet for 4.2.
I searched whether 4.2.2 rom will work for at&t or not and got the ans saying NO but there will be soon.
so if they release that and if my phone is still running 4.1.1 will i still be able to install the 4.2.2 rom in my phone?
i tried finding the requirments but couldn't find one.
thank you.

Anyways as a matter of fact, all Custom ROMs for AT&T Galaxy SIII is in the Development section here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1705
I'm still not sure whether you need official Samsung/AT&T update to 4.2.2 in order to try custom ROMs. Anyways I'll flag the Moderator to move this Thread to AT&T Galaxy SIII section, so that people using this device can give you a better suggestion.

Your stock firmware doesn't really affect what you have to do with flashing a new ROM. I have the i747 as well (on 4.1.1 stock) and i flashed Cyanogenmod 10.1 nightlies (4.2.2) pretty easily. You don't need to worry about what you have right now. Just make sure you back up the ROM and follow all the procedures for installing a new one.
BTW AT&T (or Samsung for all that matters) probably won't release 4.2 at all. It's only out for the Nexus devices at the moment. The only way is to flash a new ROM right now.
and yes, you WILL be able to install 4.2.2, even if you're running 4.1.1 on your stock firmware. (Just make sure to backup in case anything goes wrong!) Your new ROM is not dependent on your old one
here's the thing
4.1.2 came out for S3 international ~4 months ago, U.S S3 yet have yet to have it
and there's no real date when they'll even release 4.1.2
so how long do you think we'll able to get an official version of 4.2.1? and then 4.2.2?

4.1.2 began slowly rolling out barely 3 months ago on the international variant. one of the features is the multi-view. as has been covered already, this affects the US variants as we have dual core phones vs the i9300s quad. we wont see a 4.1.2 firmware release.
i dont see any real carrier-published updates for the US models until the release of the s4

actually there will be 4.1.2 for U.S s3
it's just some features that you saw on international (multi-view, etc..) won't be there for us

So then it's not the same 4.1.2 release as people have been inquiring about. And I still say the US S3 won't see a major update until the S4

I have rooted my galaxy Note II N 7100 and installed 4.2.2 slimbean.I have succesfully installed everything. But the problem is so many feautures are missing like multiscreen, S note , voice recorder . I some how feel like going back to 4.1.2 Jelly bean.I am completely new to this. Please suggest me how to install the original Android OS on my note II N 7100.I would also like to know 'Is slimroms 4.2.2 is an official android release or a third party OS?
Waiting for some suggestions. and thanks in Advance.
As you are new to this I will answer you, all features you missed are found in Samsung based roms only, and slimrom isn't Samsung based rom it is some thing called aosp which is the pure Google os. (without any Samsung apps) so to have these apps again you have to download and install any Samsung based rom called 'Tw' Touch Wizard roms, but please read before you do any thing to be sure not to do any thing wrong

It's easy to go back. Download your original firmware from sammobile.com and flash it using Odin. Extensive guides are available both on xda and all over the Internet. Google is your friend.

Saw that some user got the leaked 4.3 ROM for the International Galaxy Note 2. How long will it be, before someone ports it to the AT&T Galaxy note 2?

This question has been asked numerous times already. The kernels between the two devices are different (so porting is theoretically impossible at this point).
To answer your question, porting will be done once Samsung (AT&T) leaks 4.3 for the i7105 or i317.
It is't as simple as swapping out or ignoring the difference in modems. The best you can do for now is to extract the APK files for some apps from a 4.3 system dump (but some may have 4.3 dependencies hence they may force close or result in a bootloop.
I have an AT&T Galaxy S3 with Android 4.4.2. I used Towelroot to root my phone and it worked really well. My only concern is about which ROMs to use. It looks like most ROMs for the S3 are for android 4.3 and not what I have. Since I used a root technique for an S4 does that mean I should use ROMs from the Galaxy S4 4.4.2?
Any information would be great. I do not want to brick my phone!
NO. You must stay within the roms for your device. Flashing anything else is highly likely to give you a brick.
You have already started out on the wrong foot; these forums are for the Sprint S3, not the AT&T variant. Look for your device forum and you can flash any rom listed, regardless of whether the rom is 4.3 or 4.4.2 based
So the benefits of the Developer Edition Note 4 would be the easy root and unlocked bootloader. I assume that this will let us go the AOSP direction for ROMs unless enough developers pick it up to do some TW ROMS. If we get the DE and don't mess with the bootloader, can we get Samsung's 5.0 TW ROM when it gets released?
Every phone I've had has been rooted and (some) unlocked starting with my Google I/O HTC Magic and I'm not sure that I want to lose that.
The other big question is if root in general is going to break stuff like the Sony Z3 and some of the camera algorithms...
no warranty and no OTA updates from what I heard. you're completely on your own so you gotta hope enough devs get it to care to make a new 5.0 tw rom
