I was hesitant, but I took the leap and rooted my phone. I wanted to keep everything stock accept for a few things like being able to install titanium backup and call recording. Anyway, after rooting my gosms started acting up and the messages started missing. I was told to get rid of the app and just use the stock messaging app. I did, and now the stock app is force closing. Can someone tell me hop to stop this from happeing or what steps I need to take to get my messaging up and running properly. this is the thread is where i got my root (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1975560). Thanks in advance.

I had a rooted Hero before this and now I have rooted Continuum...I've hit "Problems?" and downloaded the busybox update.......I select Force Remove App.....Titanium Backup says my phone will restart twice....but it only restarts once, and the program I'm trying to remove is still there. I get no error messages.
I had similar experiences on the Hero. What am I missing? I would really like to get rid of this extra crap Verizon put on my phone.

I will say this once, and only once. Do not uninstall bloatware.
If you do delete it, you will not be able to get any OTA updates, but yes it does work. You can ask around, there a few people the deleted it, and they were stuck on DJ20 for a while.
Rather than uninstalling bloatware, why not just freeze it with TiBu? It will have the same effect, but then, you just need to thaw all the bloat when an update is released, and then you can update, and just refreeze whatever is there that you don't want again.
I am an idiot. I finally realized what I've been doing wrong with TB. I was always long-pressing the programs in the backup/restore view. It brought up a window of options but never what I thought I should see. Quick tapping an item is what I apparently NEVER thought to do until now. What an imbecile!
By the way, the freezing suggestion is nice, but you have to pay for the app to do that.
Thanks to the dev work, I'll revert to my former method of backing the whole ROM up with CMR and flashing a new clean ROM.
thanks for the responses

Hello. Yesterday I was trying to install some Xperia S apps, installed SemcPhone.apk and the problems started. Infinite Force Closes showed up and I forgot to make a bakup before. An helpful member helped me in the Xperia S Apps thread and I installed his original SemcPhone.apk, but to do that I had to erase the .odex file that was in my phone to stop the Force Closes. Now everytime I try to make a call I still get a Force Close on com.android.phone and the app doesn't work at all, but happily I can actually talk with the person I called, and end the call by accepting the force close. I have no idea if I can still recieve calls and the phone will always ask my PIN code when I end a call.
Help, please? Will I have to wait for the oficial ICS release? Should I make a Factory Reset, root the phone again, copy the .apk and .odex files to somewhere else, install ClockworkMod Recovery, restore it back and put those files in the right place with the correct permissions?
If you install the updated contacts apk, then it also updates the phone and favourites. I have no problems.

Tried that now, the app updated without problems but SemcPhone.apk still doesn't work.
uninstall the semc.phone apk if you still have it installed, then see. if it still doesn't work, try reinstalling the updated contacts apk.
... Something really weird happened. I restored a backup I made after the problem started and it works perfectly now. Thanks for trying to help, anyway.
Okay, so i was stupid enough not to notice that this is a MOD for S4-http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2303360
Anyways, i installed the mod and now my notification bar is gone. Further, I keep getting "unfortunately #ffd7d7d7 has stopped working" every other minute. Also, it is taking very long to boot from power off.
Any solutions that don't involve in me losing my data?
I've tried installing the remove notification bar file from that post, but that didn't help
Thanks

Okay, I fixed it by installing the newest android update, however, now my phone has become very slow. Any suggestions?
Did you do a factory reset after installation?

No, i just installed the new firmware. I dont really want to lose all my data.
Is there a way to back it up that can allow me to restore it easily? Like an app or something which will restore everything- like whatsapp messages etc..

I assume that your phone is rooted.
Search for titanium backup in play store and backup all your apps. I'm not entirely sure if it will backup your messages and contacts, so I suggest that you use an app called super backup as well.
Try to reinstall your firmware and see if your phone is faster. And make sure you only backups application and not system settings, since those settings might make your phone slow again. I will also suggest that you transfer the backup folder to your computer, just to be on the safe side. Re-download the apps and restore your files after the installation
I'm not sure If this post covered all your questions, so feel free to ask me any questions that you might have
I accidentally deleted the stock Email app using Uninstaller. Even though I had found a replacement e-mail app that I prefer, I actually still needed the stock app to register my e-mail address that I'd paired all of my contacts with when I was on Windows Phone.
However, I've had absolutely no luck getting the stock app restored.
When I tried restoring the app from Uninstaller's Recycle Bin, it appeared to work, but starting the app resulted in the app being unable to open, and force closing. After restoring and deleting etc a few more times, I finally said screw it, and deleted it from the recycle bin, to attempt a clean install from an apk.
I've also had little luck finding proper .apk's for the stock email app. The couple that I did find "Could Not Be Installed" or Email Could Not Install or something like that.
How can I fix this? I'd like to avoid reverting to Stock ROM, since I've made some changes I like, and have made progress on a number of games that I don't want to lose.
Or maybe there's just an easier way to get my Contacts info from my Windows Phone e-mail address? That the only reason I need the stock email app back.
Thanks in advance!

if you still have the apk push it into system ,app then reboot should work
I've run into this strange issue since yesterday - Any email app (and I've that includes GMail, Stock EMail, Cloudmagic, K9 Mail) closes automatically when I attempt to open any email. This happens only when opening an email, doing anything else on the apps is ok.
And the strange thing is that its not a FC either. It just closes. Without any Force Close error or exception. I've tried clearing the data on the apps, even removing the GMail app from system and re-installing it.
I assume it has to do something with whatever I did yesterday - I installed a couple of fonts from the Fonter Xposed module, but I had taken a full backup of all the fonts previously and restoring them isn't helping either. I've restored pretty much eveything I did, including removing Xposed and all. But the strange thing is it only occurs with email apps.
Anyone run into a similar issue in the past and have any clue? I've collected the logcat for the issue and I'm going over it, I see some NullPointerExceptions but not sure if these are relevant. I'm going through the logs in more detail right now, I'd appreciate if any other dev or someone who has run into this issue before can take a look and point something out.
If it comes down to it I'll just reflash everything, but just trying to avoid the trouble. Any help is appreciated.
<edit> Nevermind. I went through the logs, restored pretty much everything I can, cleared data, re-installed apps but couldn't resolve the issue. Can't point out exactly what caused the issue either. So I just went ahead and did a "Restore upgrade error" process from the LG PC Suite and re-rooted using Stump root. No data lost and issue resolved. Good enough. </edit>
